Khanh Chau Le
Dr. Khanh Chau Le is a senior researcher at Ton Duc Thang University and a distinguished expert in the field of mechanics. He previously held the position of Extraordinary Professor of Mechanics at the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany until 2021.
His academic career includes serving as a full professor and Head of the Materials Mechanics Research Group at Ton Duc Thang University (2018-2021) and as a flying faculty member and Co-Director of the Master's Programme in Computational Engineering at the Vietnamese German University (2009-2017). His international experience is highlighted by a visiting professorship at the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique in France and several research stays at Wayne State University in the USA.
Dr. Le’s early research focused on applying the variational-asymptotic method to the vibrations of elastic and piezoelectric structures. This foundational work is summarized in his 1999 monograph, Vibrations of Shells and Rods (Springer Verlag). His research interests have since expanded to include the dynamics of smart structures, nonlinear vibration, fracture mechanics, crystal plasticity, and micromechanics. He has also authored two other key texts in the field: Introduction to Micromechanics and Energy Methods in Dynamics.
Deeply committed to the academic community, Dr. Le serves as an associate editor for the Vietnam Journal of Mechanics and as a member of the editorial boards for three leading international journals: International Journal of Plasticity, Archive of Applied Mechanics, and Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids. A dedicated mentor, he has successfully supervised 11 PhD candidates and 48 Master's students and is a frequent reviewer for numerous international journals.
Dr. Le’s extensive research has resulted in approximately 120 publications. According to Google Scholar, his work has been cited over 2,300 times, reflecting his significant impact on the field with an h-index of 28.
