The key learning objectives and tools used to implement them and the evaluation results will be detailed. Evaluation results show that robotics projects are effective in engaging the students and an effective active learning tool.

Courses are made available online using Blackboard (Bb) Vista. Bb vista learning system is an e-learning software that allows educational institutions to create and host courses on the Internet [2]. Complete web-supported courses were offered to undergraduate students across all levels. Two case studies are presented in this paper, a sophomore course ECEN 214, Electric Circuit Theory, offered to second year students and ECEN 455, Digital Communications, offered to final year students. In this paper, the many tools offered by Bb Vista are discussed, such as interactive homework submission system, grade book, and anonymous survey submission and chat tool. In addition this paper will discuss the use of the ‘Assignment ’ tool to create customized homework problems to each individual student, each student in the class is presented with a set of uniqu...

A set of virtual experiments and instruments are in use by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program exposing students to latest CAL technologies and encourages the study and implementation of computer learning applications in teaching. The experiments are part of an undergraduate course, ECEN 455, Digital Communications, offered to final year students. The experiments are made available online via secure internet connection. Hardware equipment was set up at the laboratory and was connected to the campus network via a network server. Hence, the students were able to access and control the laboratory equipment at a distance. The experiment is performed virtually using software that resembles the hardware equipment set up. Nevertheless, students are able to vary hardware parameters of the laboratory...
