Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells in peripheral blood transplantation (alloPBSCT) or bone marrow transplantation (alloBMT) have different biological characteristics which may affect differently prognostic factors for incidence and severity of chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD). To determine the prognostic factors of cGVHD in patients receiving alloPBSCT, data on 87 patients who survived at least 100 days after matched related donor myeloablative transplantation were analyzed. Factors significantly associated with higher incidence of cGVHD after alloPBSCT included CMV-positive donor, acute skin GVHD, and diagnoses other than lymphoma. Factors predictive for poor survival following cGVHD diagnosis included platelet count < 100,000/mm 3 and history of acute liver GVHD. Acute liver GVHD and etoposide in the preparative regimen significantly increased risk of death due to cGVHD after alloPBSCT. All alloPBSCT multivariate models were fit to an independent cohort of comparable matched related donor alloBMT patients (n = 75). After alloBMT, only acute skin GVHD and diagnoses other than lymphoma retained prognostic significance for predicting cGVHD. Low platelet count was the only variable predictive for poor survival in cGVHD patients after alloBMT. Acute liver GVHD was the only factor that retained prognostic significance for risk of death due to cGVHD after alloBMT. These data suggest there are some cGVHD prognostic factors that may be unique to recipients of alloPBSCT. More studies are needed to determine whether cGVHD prognostic systems should be used interchangeably in patient populations receiving different stem-cell products. Am.

The eect of land-use changes on nitrous oxide (N 2 O) emission from tropical peatlands in Indonesia and Malaysia was studied in the ®eld and in the laboratory. The amount of N 2 O emitted from the peatland varied widely according to the land-use management, water contents, addition of fertilizer or organic waste and location of the site. Changing natural peatland to cultivated land can have a signi®cant impact of either increasing or decreasing N 2 O emission to the atmosphere depending on the land-use management and environmental conditions.

Nanostructured lead-free solder Sn-Ag-Cu (SAC) was developed by electrodeposition method at room temperature. Electrolite bath which comprised of the predetermined quantity of tin methane sulfonate, copper sulfate and silver sulfate were added sequentially to MSA solution. The methane sulphonic acid (MSA) based ternary Sn-Ag-Cu bath was developed by using tin methane sulfonate as a source of Sn ions while the Cu+ and Ag+ ions were obtained from their respective sulfate salts. The rate of the electrodeposition was controlled by variation of current density. The addition of the buffer, comprising of sodium and ammonium acetate helped in raising the pH solution. During the experimental procedure, the pH of solution, composition of the electrolite bath, and the electrodeposition time were kept constant. The electrodeposited rate, deposit composition and microstructure were investigated as the effect of current density. The electrodeposited solder alloy was characterized for their morphology using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM). In conclusion, vary of current density will play significant role in the surface morphology of nanostructured lead-free solder SAC developed.

During infection, there is increased expression of CALC-I gene resulting in ubiquitous release of procalcitonin (PCT). Since the expression of PCT is dependent on the genetic constituents of a population, this study aimed to validate the diagnostic performance of PCT in differentiating sepsis from noninfectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) in a Malaysian intensive care unit (ICU). Materials and Methods: Ninety-five patients fulfilling the criteria for SIRS were enrolled. Daily concentrations of PCT, C-reactive protein (CRP) and white cell count (WCC) were measured over three days. The diagnostic and predictive performance of these biomarkers were assessed using area under the curve of the ROC. Results: In this study, medical and surgical cohorts had similar PCT concentrations. Peak (p=0.02) and daily PCT (p<0.001) concentrations were significantly higher in patients with sepsis compared to SIRS. There were no significant differences in the CRP and WCC concentrations between the two groups. Peak PCT was significantly higher in patients with bacteraemia than those without (49.1 [19.3-57] vs. 6.9 [1.1-25.6 ng/ml], p=0.001). PCT was diagnostic of sepsis and bacteraemia (AUC of 0.73 [0.64-0.83] and 0.80 [0.66-0.93] respectively). Peak PCT was significantly higher in septic patients with culture positive compared to culture negative (p=0.02). At the optimal cut-point of 10.68 ng/ml for peak PCT, sepsis was very likely with specificity of 86% and psotive predictive value (PPV) of 91%. There was a good correlation between PCT concentration and the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score in the sepsis cohort (r=0.62, p<0.0001). PCT was better than CRP or WCC in differentiating sepsis from non-infectious SIRS in critically-ill patients. PCT is diagnostic of sepsis and bacteraemia, and is also useful as an indicator of severity of organ failure in sepsis.

2 and N 2 O emission CH 4 uptake Conventional tillage No till Global warming potential Soils can be a source or sink for the atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHGs) depending on the land use management, which needs to be understood properly for devising management strategies to mitigate climate change. It is hypothesized that the aggregate size distribution under different land use management practices and the C and N concentration in these aggregates may influence GHG (CO 2 , N 2 O and CH 4 ) emissions from soil. To test this hypothesis, a laboratory incubation study was conducted using soils from a 16-year old tillage experiment on corn (Zea mays L.) and the adjoining forest on a Crosby silt loam soil (Haplic Luvisols) at the Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resource Laboratory of the Ohio State University (OSU), Columbus, Ohio. It was observed that in forest soil, cumulative CO 2 and N 2 O emissions were significantly higher than those from the cultivated soil by 81.2 and 100%, respectively. However, there was no significant difference between conventional tillage (CT) and no till (NT) with respect to the cumulative CO 2 and N 2 O emissions. Emissions were significantly higher from the large macro-aggregates than from other aggregate size fractions. There was net CH 4 uptake by the soil during the incubation period. The cumulative CO 2 and N 2 O emissions and CH 4 uptake from different aggregate size fractions accounted for 59, 56, and 47% of the emissions/uptake of these gases from the bulk soil, respectively. The contributions of the large macro-aggregates towards the bulk soil CO 2 (39%) and N 2 O (37.9%) emissions and CH 4 uptake (49.7%) were significantly higher than those of the micro-aggregates and mineral fraction. Total soil carbon, nitrogen, particulate carbon and nitrogen, and mineral associated carbon and nitrogen accounted for 87, 87 and 66% variation in the cumulative CO 2 and N 2 O emissions and CH 4 uptake, respectively.

Increased body weight is a major risk factor for the metabolic syndrome which is a cluster of coronary heart disease risk factors, like: hypertension, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidaemia. This study was conducted to determine the frequency of abdominal obesity and diabetes mellitus in the population of Peshawar and association between them. This was a cross sectional study, performed by the Cardiology Department, Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, in the population of Peshawar. All participants were interviewed in detail regarding known risk factors for coronary artery disease. Waist circumference (≥102 cm in male and ≥88 cm in females) was used as the surrogate marker for abdominal obesity in already diagnosed patients of type-2 diabetes mellitus. The experimentally research was governed to estimate the external (source) and internal signal combined system without separate each other. Referring to that, the Lumped Parameter System (LPS) analytical modeling method by Matko et al (2001) as looked as possible is significance and accurately to estimate the internal pressure or difference pressure fluctuation of fluid lines. By using the LPS method were known that the horizontal fluid lines dynamic system with longitudinal grooves number variation (in fractal geometry image) for which will be used as an object in this research are fulfilled as a low frequency model class and small gain pressure fluctuation for every measurement acquisition result It's properly in the LPS modeling method, the hydraulic fluid lines should be looked as a compressible fluid and over pass storage of energy charging so the response is not only affected by resistance but also by inductanc e and capacitance of the fluid. The three fluid elements respectively for a pipeline length unit are constant, have positive values eventually and modified as a function of the pipeline hydraulic diameter. It's confirmed that the result could be given to predict the locally linearly stability character of the fluid flow energy flux different between upstream and downstream pipeline positions.

Lahan basah di Indonesia mencapai 32 juta ha dan ditengarai sebagai sumber emisi gas rumah kaca (GRK) berupa CH 4 , N 2 O dan CO 2 sehingga perlu usaha-usama minimalisasi emisi gas-gas tersebut ke atmosfir. Limbah pertanian lahan basah merupakan sumber emisi GRK yang dihasilkan ketika limbah tersebut dibakar dalam rangka pengendalian hama penyakit, produksi abu untuk pemupukan, atau mengalami dekomposisi oleh mikroorganisme pada lahan. Salah satu teknik yang dipraktekkan oleh industri untuk membakar limbah adalah dengan pirolisis, yaitu membakar pada instalasi dimana suplai oksigen bisa dikurangi sehingga dapat meminimalisasi emisi GRK sambil menghasilkan biochar. Harga instalasi pirolisis yang tersedia dapat mencapai 50 milyar rupiah, sehingga tidak terjangkau oleh penggilingan padi, koperasi maupun petani secara individu. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendesain instalasi pirolisis rendah emisi GRK dengan biaya terjangkau oleh pengusaha penggilingan padi dan/atau koperasi (> Rp 5 juta). Desain yang diuraikan meliputi instalasi ceret, drum tunggal dan drum ganda dengan kelebihan, kekurangannya serta prospek pengembangannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa instalasi dengan ceret dapat menghasilkan biochar (1) biaya murah, (2) rendemen rendah, (3) kapasitas kecil (>500 gr), sedangkan instalasi wajan dan drum tunggal (1) rendement tinggi, (2) biaya murah, (3) asap cair tidak dapat ditampung. Desain instalasi dengan kombinasi drum-wajan mempunyai (1) rendement tinggi, (2) kapasitas memadai, (3) asap 100% bisa ditampung sehingga berpotensi untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut. Hasil pengujian biochar terhadap lahan basah menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi biochar mampu meningkatkan populasi mikroorganisme tanah dengan tanpa peningkatan signifikan pada emisi GRK.

This study started from the assumption that isti'ârah widely used in the Qur'an and has the essential elements of interest to be investigated further, especially in Sura al-Baqarah, Ali Imran and An-Nisa. The purpose of this study is to find the letter isti'ârah characteristics and its influence on the meaning of the verse. The method used in this study is descriptive method, to explain in depth the meaning of the words used and selected based on its context in the Qur'an. The results of this study it can be concluded that the media is seen as isti'arah Qur'an to convey the message of Allah to mankind by way of revealing the relationship between the meaning isti'arah with the intended meaning in the verses of the Koran. In terms of education, isti'arah also very useful to use in teaching and learning, particularly useful in helping teachers and textbooks so easily understood by students.

This research uses qualitative research, with the type of field research (Field Research). The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The research subjects were students and teachers of guidance and counseling at SMK N 3 Klaten. Data collection techniques in this study using interviews, observation and documentation. The data validity test used data triangulation which was carried out before entering the field, during the field, and after finishing in the field. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kerjasama siswa kelas X SMK Kristen 2 Klaten melalui games. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas (action research class) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus menggunakan model Kemmis dan Taggart, terdiri atas empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi.
