This study was based on the issue that the Indonesia high school student's writing ability was still low. Therefore, it was needed to find out the factors causing the problem and solution to overcome in through the implementation of the Text-Based Modelling Strategy (TBMS). The study used the experimental methods with the Randomized Pretest-Posttest Comparison Group Design. The data were collected in the forms of essay, questionnaire, interviews result, document, and observation result. The main sources of the data were the students of SMA YAS (Sekolah Menengah Atas Yayasan Atikan Sunda or Senior High School of the Sundanese Education Foundation) in Bandung. Beside, the Indonesian teacher and some documents from the school saced as the additional source of the data. The result of this study proved that the TBMS could overcome the hindrance of writing, and it was also effective in increasing the students competence of writing an essay. The result was also valid for significance value of the essay writing aspect's competence (substantive, textual, lexical, syntactic, and graphemic). Though they altogether increased the writing competence, it was seen that the TBMS was much better and more effectictive than the BMS (Basic Modeling Strategy) and CLS (Conventional Learning Strategy). The study found that the procedure composed and applied in the TBMS, that has never done before, contributed positively to the increasing of writing competence.

Metode Weak experiment dengan "The one group pretest posttest design" digunakan dalam penelitian ini karena menggunakan satu kelompok perlakuan, tidak menggunakan kelompok kontrol, tetapi padanya diberikan tes awal dan tes akhir (Fraenkel & Wallen, 2007). Pada penelitian ini, tidak digunakan kelompok kontrol karena subjek penelitian berasal dari daerah yang sama sehingga kemungkinan besar potensi lokal yang digunakan untuk media dan sumber pembelajaran juga relatif sama. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini yaitu PKPS yang memanfaatkan potensi lokal pada konsep keanekaragaman makhluk hidup, sedangkan kemampuan klasifikasi dan kemampuan berpikir logis sebagai variabel terikat.

One of the main problems of the global environment is the crisis of biodiversity loss. The ability of teachers was instrumental in the successful implementation of biodiversity and conservation education so as to produce citizens who are concerned and responsible. Depth questionnaire survey, aims to explore the capabilities of teachers' understanding of the concept of biodiversity, conservation, and biodiversity hotspots. Some 21 science teachers from various districts in the province of West Java and Banten involved in this research. The results showed in general teachers do not holistically understand the concept of biodiversity and conservation. Even the concept of biodiversity hotspots are generally not recognized by the teacher. The ability of teachers to update their knowledge and limitations on resource book to be the cause of the weakness. Teachers are expected to update their knowledge through various ways and to optimize the resources available. Development resource book for teachers in order to improve holistic knowledge about biodiversity and conservation has also become a necessity.

Krisis penurunan biodiversitas merupakan salah satu masalah paling serius dan termasuk ke dalam permasalahan utama lingkungan global. Hanya orang-orang yang literat biodiversitas yang dapat menemukan solusi terhadap permasalahan-permasalahan tersebut. Guru memiliki peran penting dalam menghasilkan orang-orang yang literat biodiversitas. Kendati demikian, terdapat sejumlah permasalahan muncul dari guru. Literasi biodiversitas guru masih rendah dan kurang mengenal potensi lokal biodiversitas yang dapat dijadikan sumber belajar. Salah satu penyebabnya yaitu sumber belajar literasi biodiversitas bermuatan potensi lokal untuk guru masih terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan bahan ajar literasi biodiversitas bermuatan potensi lokal untuk meningkatkan literasi biodiversitas guru. This qualitative study aims to explore the traditional knowledge information about the plants used for health of women, the folk classification and the conservation of medicinal plants which do villagers in the Cibodas Lembang West Bandung Regency, West Java Province. The research subjects involved consisted of 66 villagers residing in Cibodas Village. The results show that there are 113 species of medicinal plants used for health of women in this village in various ways of preparation and mode of use. There are about 98 kinds of diseases that generally assisted be made well with medicinal plants. Folk classification of medicinal plants is a horizontal classification with artificial and natural systems. Conservation efforts by society in the form of planting certain medicinal plants along the placenta and planting in the yard and garden. The response of community is very good. They perhaps that diversity of medicinal plant and its conservation can be included to school curriculum as part of biodiversity education.
