I am associate professor at the Sorbonne Paris Nord University (University of Paris 13 until December 2019), France.I received my PhD degree in 2000 from INPL (Institute National Polytechnique de Lorraine), Nancy, France. I obtained my HDR degree (Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches) in 2016 from the UPMC University (Université Pierre et Marie Curie), Paris, France.My research interests are network and service architectures (SOA, Cloud and Virtual net- works), QoS and information modeling and network management.More recent works are currently focused in the convergence between architectural and informational dimensions of Services/Networks of the future, in special with the architectures and platforms in the Cloud, and the dynamic orchestration and deployment of network services in virtualized environments (SDN/NFV). My work is concerning different uses cases: 5G network slicing, ITS architectures and VDTN routing, Smart cities and IoT platforms.

We therefore design a novel fronthaul network scheduling architecture and scheme based off the Burst Limiting Shaper (BLS) mechanism to provide Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees to service differential traffic which include ultra Reliable and Low Latency communication (URLLC) traffic and non-URLLC traffic In this work we compare our strategy to Weighted Round Robin (WRR) scheduling algorithm under bursty and low traffic conditions. Simulations are used to evaluate our schemes performance ad show how well it compares to WRR.

The principle of End-to-End (E2E) slice includes not only a service chain of physical or virtual functions for the radio and core of 5G/6G networks but also the full path to the application servers that might be running at some edge computing or at central cloud. Nonetheless, the development and optimization of E2E network slice management systems necessitate a reliable simulation tool for evaluating different aspects at large-scale network topologies such as resource allocation and function placement models. GeoDTC: A New Geographic Routing Protocol Based on Distance, Time and Custody Transfer

This paper fits into the continuous efforts of researchers to propose a routing protocol able to ... more This paper fits into the continuous efforts of researchers to propose a routing protocol able to successfully deliver data at an affordable cost under the challenging networks that are Vehicular Delay Tolerant Networks. Through the literature, several routing protocols based on various approaches have been proposed. However, during the last decade, the geographical approach emerged as the most natural to apply, due mainly to the popularisation of embedded GPS navigation systems. Despite this, and the proposal of different geographic based routing protocols for VDTNs, researchers are still looking for an ideal one, because of hard assumptions, limited performances or small and idealistic evaluation scenarios compared to real word environments. In this paper, we propose GeoDTC, a new geographic routing protocol dedicated to VDTNs, based on two distinct metrics namely: Distance and Time; jointly to the recurrent use of Custody Transfer. We conduct an extensive study to compare our proposal against well-knows protocols namely: Epidemic, Direct Delivery, GeoSpray and Prophet, under realistic simulation environment and scenario by using the large-scale dataset TAPAS Cologne. Simulations results reveal better performances for our proposal. Moreover, they demonstrate the potential benefits of intensive usage of the Custody Transfer and the introduction of various mechanisms.

We treat the specification and modelling of different notions in the context the dynamic deployment of services. We propose a new and extensible object-oriented information model to represent the various concepts involved in this context. Our information model enables us to represent the notions of service, resource and profile and also to deal with the management of networks resources. UML is used to represent our model. We also present an initial view of the knowledge that is needed to manage the resource allocations and distribution of services.

Providing dedicated cloud services that ensure user's QoS requirements is a big challenge in ... more Providing dedicated cloud services that ensure user's QoS requirements is a big challenge in cloud computing. Currently, cloud services are provisioned according to resources availability without ensuring the expected performances. The cloud provider should happen to evolve its ecosystem in order to meet QoS-awareness requirements of each cloud component. In this paper, we consider two important points which reflect the complexity introduced by the Cloud management: QoS-aware and self-management aspects. QoS-aware aspect involves the capacity of a service to be aware of its behavior. Self-management implies the fact that the service is able to react itself with its environment. In this paper we propose to integrate a QoS agent in each cloud component in order to control and inform the system about its current behavior.

However, current Network Slice (NS) demonstrations are not fully aligned with the ongoing standardization activities, particularly with the Network Slice Subnet Management Function (NSSMF) defined by 3GPP. This paper provides a novel Framework for NS Subnet Management, called NESSMA, that satisfies a list of requirements derived from an exhaustive analysis of up-to-date NS standards. The Framework is designed to jointly manage NS Subnets and their supported services having in mind its integration with NFV-MANO.

To meet these goals, the network has to ensure a complete management and control of all network resources. For instance, it has to react to the fluctuation of the load and change the assignment of network resources if needed. The key problem is how and when to add and remove resources in order to meet the required Quality of Service (QoS) of users. In this paper, we consider a network based on Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Network Slicing technologies. We interest on the management of the deployed network slices. To this end, we propose a Dynamic Handler Framework (DHF) that collects information about slice performances and then determines if the slice resources need to be modified or not. The proposed framework is based on a fuzzy logic algorithm that selects the adequate management decision based on two criteria which are the load ratio and the predicted load-time fairness index. In this paper, a mathematical formulation of our proposal and an evaluation of its efficiency are presented.

To cope with the intermittent connectivity of vehicular communications, numerous protocols based on Store Carry and Forward (SCF) paradigm were designed, ranging from an adaptation of generic Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) to those specifically dedicated to a vehicular mobility context. All these routing protocols use different kind of policies to decide when and to whom each node forwards its carried data. Typical strategies are based on epidemic dissemination, opportunistic forwarding or rely on some geographic information. Our approach lends to the reduction in random access delay budget through a combined static/dynamic resource usage approach with respect to traffic types with different latency requirements. In addition, we obtain figures for optimum performance random access (RA) resource partitioning for ultra Reliable Low Latency (uRLLC) and non-uRLLC traffic.

In the context of future vehicular applications, new models must to be defined to enable the acce... more In the context of future vehicular applications, new models must to be defined to enable the access and interconnection of existing control systems. This paper presents a model of a Gateway for the interconnection between two networks, on one hand IEEE 1609, and on the other hand Controller Area Network (CAN). The former defines Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment (WAVE); the second is a serial communication bus that is used by the automotive industry for interconnecting all kind of devices into a car, such as ABS (antilock-braking system), etc. A possible application of the Gateway is to use the potential collision messages not only as warning messages for the vehicle driver but as control messages for the device controlling the brake into a vehicle. The Gateway’s model is developed using the Unified Software Development Process and its language the Unified Modeling Language (UML).
