Materials and Methods: The effect of different concentrations of some polyphenols and glycosides on contractile responses of isolated aorta, ileum and trachea to Acetylcholine, KCl and phenylephrine (PE) were evaluated. Results: The results of the current study indicated that luteolin and chlorogenic acid has potent relaxant effects on KCl and PE-induced contractions in rat's aortic ring. Amygdalin and tannic acid reduced ACh-induced ileum contractions significantly. Conclusions: The inhibitory effect of luteolin and chlorogenic acid on the contraction induced by PE and KCl may be due to their anti-adrenergic and anti-hyperpolarizing effect.

medicine. In the existing literature, there is evidence regarding the effects of fenugreek on ethylene glycol induced kidney
stone formation of rats. Regarding the other drugs, such as Cystone, the seeds of Trigonella foenum-graecum (fenugreek)
are reported to have been used as anti-urolithiatic in traditional medicine. Thus, the present study was undertaken to
investigate the effect of fenugreek on the prevention of kidney stone formation. Twenty male albino rats were divided into
4 groups: Normal, Ethylene Glycol (EG), Cystone and Fenugreek. The duration of the experiment was 28 days. Ethylene
glycol group led to increases in kidney weight, malondialdehyde (MDA) and platelet count, while Cystone and Fenugreek
combat the effect of EG. Haematological examination showed that the hemoglobin and red blood cell count in rats treated
EG were significantly lower than those in the controls while Fenugreek and Cystone decreased the EG effect. Our studies
demonstrate the anti-urolithiatic and anti-oxidative potential effects of T. foenum-graecum, which could exert beneficial
effects against the kidney stone formation and the associated free radicals complications in kidney tissues. Further clinical
trials are needed for evaluating its benefits and the possible side effects.

Hawthorn belongs to amember of the Rosaceae family, which contains many flavonoid and procyanidine as the majorcomponents for treating various cardiovascular conditions. An extract prepared from the fruits, leaves and smaller stems of hawthorn was used to investigate the potential effects on isolated ileum, trachea and aorta. The ME (1X10-3 – 3 mg/ml) tested in this study was found to be more sensitive inrelaxing contractions induced by Ach for ileum (with Log IC50’s of -1.844 mg/mL) and trachea. The ME was more potent in inhibiting KCl- than Ach-induced contractions, with log IC50’s of0.7685 and 1.639 mg/mL respectively. In rabbit jejunum, ME caused a dose-dependent spasmogenic effect, followed by relaxation at the higher dose. Pretreatment of the tissue with atropine abolished the contractile effect and the relaxant effect became dominant (Log IC50’s of1.038 mg/mL). The results of the study showed that ME dose-dependently inhibited thecontractions induced by PE and KCl (with log IC50 of 0.7506 and 0.9370 mg/mL) in isolated ratthoracic aorta. We concluded that ME showed vasodilator and hypotensive, anti-asthmatic and spasmolytic effect.

The 1st group was given standard diet and water ad libitium and considerd as controlgroup. The second group, the diet supllemented with Cd (80mg Cd/Kg diet). The third group was provided with Vitamin C (along with drinking water as a concentration of 2500 mg Vit C/L) and Cd supplemnted diet (80mg Cd/Kg diet). Animal in group 4 were treated as group three plus Piracetam (200 mg/L of Dinking water ). Animal of group 2 with Cd supp lemented diet exhabited a significant increment in WBCs count as compared with animal of the control group. On the other hand, animal treated with vitamin C (group 3) and Vitamin C plus piracetam (Group 4), the WBCs count was returned more or less to the normal value. Animal of group 2 ( provided with Cd supplemented diet) showed significant decrease in RBCs count, PCV and Hb content as compared with group one. However, Vit C along with Piracetam (T4) diminished the anemic with offer of Cd and RBCs count and PCV returned to its normal level. Cd adminstration decrease serum glucose concentartion , where as the supply Vitamin C (T3) and Vitamin C Plus Piracetam (T4) returned the serum glucose concentartion more or less to its normal level. From the results, it can be concluded the Piracetam with Vitamin C showed a potent preservation role against toxic influence of cadmium on the hematological parametrs studied.

Rutin (1X10-7 - 6X10-3 M) caused a concentration-dependent relaxation of aortic rings precontracted with phenylephrine (PE 10-6M) while produced non-significant relaxed effect on KCl induced contraction with Log IC50’s -3.025 and -2.885 M/ml respectively. Rutin exhibited potent inhibitory effects on (ACh 10-6 M) precontracted ileum of the rat with Log IC50 -5.996 M/mL. Rutin produced more potent inhibitory effect on ACh- than KCl-induced contractions in trachea, with Log IC50’s of -4.371 and -4.301 M/mL respectively. While rutin showed more potent inhibitory effect on PE-induced contractions potently than KCl precontracted aorta with Log IC50’s was -3.025 M and -2.885 respectively. From the data obtained during the present work, it can be concluded that rutin induces concentration-dependent relaxation in rat's smooth muscle. The mechanism of the relaxation may involves via nitric oxide-guanylyl cyclase pathway for aorta and anticholinergic activity for ileum and trachea.

The physiological effects of Rhubarb Root, Lovastatin and their combination on some haematological and biochemical value in male rats (Rattus norvegicus) were studied. Fifteen rats were randomly assigned to 5 groups, (T1) cholesterol diet, (T2) Lovastatin, (T3) Rhubarb (T4) Rhubarb and Lovastatin and (T5) as a control. The results can be summarized as follows:- Serum glucose (s.g) concentration shows significant differences between treatments. (T1) shows significant increment in serum cholesterol (s.ch) as compared with control (T5) Total cholesterol showed a significant differences (T3 and T4) treatments when compares with the control group (T5). To demonstrate the effects of rhubarb Lovastatin and their combination treatments on the haematological parameters, we compared the hematological values of the groups (T2, T3 &T4) were compared to control group (T5) subsequently then we focused on inhibitory effects of combination of Lovastatin and Rhubarb. It was concluded that the rhubarb root was effective in lowering serum cholesterol especially when giving in combination with Lovastatin group

Quercetin (1X10-7 - 6X10-4 M) and AE (1X10-3 - 10 mg/ml) caused a concentration-dependent relaxation of endothelium-intact aortic rings precontracted with phenylephrine (10-6M PE) or a high level of KCl (60 mM). AE and quercetin exhibited potent inhibitory effects on KCl- than PE- induced contractions. Quercetin shifted the PE concentration- response curve to the right hand side and downhill. L-NAME and indomethacin did attenuate the vascular effect of quercetin. From the data obtained during the present work, it can be concluded that quercetin induces concentration-dependent relaxation in rat's thoracic aorta. The mechanism of the relaxation may involves mainly the inhibition of NO and to a lesser extent of cyclooxygenase.

Rats were divided into four groups, rats maintained on a normal diet for 5 weeks, rats maintained on a high carbon tetrachloride injection, and other two groups received Ginkgo biloba in the diet alone and Ginkgo biloba with α- tocopherol. Rats injected with carbon tetrachloride showed significant increased platelet count and PDW. Ginkgo biloba decreased WBCs count, platelet count, PDW, MPV and P-LCR significantly. On the other hand, combination of Ginkgo biloba with α-tocopherol decreased WBCs count, PDW, MPV and P-LCR significantly. It is concluded that carbon tetrachloride injection in male albino rats is associated with liver fibrosis and thrombosis, throughout increasing WBCs count and platelet indices. While, Ginkgo biloba is very powerful in removing thrombosis and decreasing thrombotic indices.
