However, there has been some misconception about how DT differs from BIM. As a result, industry professionals reject DT even in BIM-based construction projects due to reluctance to innovate. Furthermore, researchers have repeatedly developed tools and techniques with the same goals using DT and BIM to assist practitioners in construction projects. Therefore, this study aims to assist industry professionals and researchers in understanding the relationship between DT and BIM and synthesize existing works on DT and BIM. Design/methodology/approach A systematic review was conducted on published articles related to DT and BIM. A total record of 54 journal articles were identified and analyzed. Findings The analysis of the selected journal articles revealed four types of relationships between DT and BIM: BIM is a subset of DT, DT is a subset of BIM, BIM is DT, and no relationship between BIM and DT. The existing research on DT and BIM in construction projects targets improvements in five areas: planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance, and decommissioning. In addition, several areas have emerged, such as developing geo-referencing approaches for infrastructure projects, applying the proposed methodology to other construction geometries and creating 3D visualization using color schemes. Originality/value This study contributed to the existing body of knowledge by overviewing existing research related to DT and BIM in construction projects. Also, it reveals research gaps in the body of knowledge to point out directions for future research.

Nonetheless, the provision and management of facilities in Malaysia’s public parks has been inconsistently and inadequately administered due to budgetary constraints. To optimise a limited budget whilst safeguarding the multidimensional benefits of parks, this paper aims to identify and classify park facilities according to its vitality. The research was conducted in two stages, involving observation and a questionnaire survey. In total, 1,658 respondents who had experience of visiting the public parks in Malaysia took part in the survey. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and reliability analysis were deployed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software to classify the park facilities whilst measuring the consistency of the classification. Nineteen identified facilities were classified into two constructs, namely essential...

This is due to the increased demands of women travelling with either private vehicles or public transportation. Inclusivity and equality planning is more than just providing women's coaches, special pregnant women seats, and women-only lines in public transportation. Walkability, as one of the most important keywords for mobility, must be enhanced by excellent walking conditions and facilities that are inclusive and equal. In this context, walking for women often relates to the issue of safety and security in addition to accessibility and connectivity. This paper describes different groups of women with divergent perceptions of safety reasons and security. Through the questionnaire survey we have establish a significant relationship between distance and the nature of activity regarding reasons for women walking to the LRT stations.

The role of the physical built environment in place and identity development has not received adequate attention in built environment literature. This paper attempts to identify the unique and exceptional characteristics of places which create a unique environment and make a continuing contribution to the overall sense of the place. A preliminary survey was conducted in Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB), a small town in the northern part of the Malaysian state of Selangor; to examine the characteristics of the place that influence and contribute to the identity of the town. The survey results demonstrate that the cultural heritage of the physical built environment acts as an important trigger for the town’s identity. While it is undeniable that cultural heritage is indeed greatly the product of non-visual sources; subjective meanings, experiences, beliefs, ide...
