Awais Farooqi is currently doing PhD in Electrical Engineering at UiTM-Malaysia, his research is focused on Implementing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Renewable Energy Power Systems. At present he is working as Sr. IoT Engineer at Inchz-IoT Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia), mainly focusing on achieving Industry 4.0 oriented goals by providing industrial IoT solutions to clients mostly involved in industrial automation and up-gradation of older version of machine to bring them into smart world of communication. Modern solar-powered pumping systems are already being utilized in various fields and industrial ... more Modern solar-powered pumping systems are already being utilized in various fields and industrial applications especially in agricultural water irrigation systems where pumping water at a remote location is required with fewer electricity accessibility from the grid is not feasible. PV solely depends on solar hours per day and it is not reliable when a location exhibits variable weather conditions, such as in Malaysia, having 12 solar hours daily but maximum 5-6 peak performance hours are as usually achieved due to the cloudy and rainy nature of the weather. In this case, PV-grid is not able to generate power as per daily demand and would create voltage sags, swell, and power outage when it is directly connected with the water pumping system for irrigation. This research aims to develop an economical & ergonomically designed pick-andplace sorting system for bag-making machines in the packaging industry. It provides a standard universal setup that is feasible to adapt with any type of bag-making machine as a pick-and-place attachment. This automated system can be installed at pickup location of the bag-making machine for the operation of pick-and-place of packaging bags, which is able to distribute packaging bags into the accepted bags platform without the supervision of a physical operator. This pick-and-place sorting system is able differentiate between two coloured bags while accepting the correct dimension of it to place it at a location of 'accepted bag' else at a location of 'rejected bag'. The proposed machine system can sort-out three different dimensions of test samples by accepting bags with a fiducial mark and correct dimension only, while rejecting the bags without fiducial mark and of incorrect dimensions. A standalone mechanical structure based on stepper motors, electronics design and embedded control system was developed that includes an IR-proximity sensor, as a fiducial mark/colour detector and a loadcell based dimension analyser, to differentiate between different dimensions of the test samples.

A technique called Green Manufacturing Index (GMI) is moulded in this paper, which will determine the effectivity of the green manufacturing process in terms of economic and environmental prospects. The method of GMI has been developed by sub-categorizing the machining practices based on their limitations, economic and environmental impacts to maintain a sustainable manufacturing standard for industries. The proposed technique would be applicable to any manufacturing process in industry.

This implies that the DVR is capable to mitigate power quality disturbances at load terminal. Harmonic is a major power quality problem polluting distribution network causing the end-user equipment to fail operating due to the occurrence of disturbances in voltage, current or frequency. This paper discusses on the DVR used as the proposed technique to mitigate the voltage sag and swell in a distribution network connected with energy storage system and mini-hydro turbine system.

The prime objective of the philosophy is to find a technique in machining or material removal processes that are environmentally friendly, with minimal wastage, energy efficient and optimal condition for the machining processes. This review paper discusses the significance of textured novel cutting tools, is one of the promising technologies and process. It discusses the Dry Machining process to capture green sustainable manufacturing practices. The study may answer of how it stands among other methods including minimum quantity lubrication and nano fluid lubricant. This paper also presents the importance of advanced manufacturing tools to match the sustainable future needs with an idea of proposed methodology to conduct a research on textured novel cutting tools for sustainable machining.

The machining technologies and modern intelligent systems are expensive and require easy handling... more The machining technologies and modern intelligent systems are expensive and require easy handling and integrated-able machine with various devices to perform multiple machining tasks. Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines are accessible by manufacturers to perform several machining tasks due to effectiveness in handling accuracy. The majority of CNC machines are costly due to it complex but efficient machine and software design. This project is aimed to develop a cost effective and easily integrate-able CNC Machine System that is accessible to add-on Nd-Yag Laser Device. The deliberate mechanical design and the path of laser beam entering the machine and exiting the laser-head with intended electronics control structure controlled by CNC software is developed. The designed CNC Nd-Yag laser Machine is a teaching tool for workshop and is targeted to perform laser cutting and suitable engraving or welding tasks for small and medium scale industries. By testing the machine its expected positional accuracy was achieved and the control mechanism for Nd-Yag laser path reflection function was successfully tested.

For chemical industries environmental consideration is an issue. It is required to control the op... more For chemical industries environmental consideration is an issue. It is required to control the operational inputs to reduce and minimize emissions including air pollutant and global warming gasses such as CO2 and Per-fluorinated chemicals/gasses (PFC's). Therefore we need to look for the solutions that aid to limit the waste (solid and liquid chemicals), and to reduce them by recycling methods. This paper focuses on the topic that introduces the miscibility studies of Styrofoam cup (polystyrene foam) in water (inorganic solvent) and in acetone (organic solvent) by using Materials Studio Software. The structures of Styrofoam cup, water and acetone were constructed prior to the calculation of miscibility. Optimization was carried out on the models and the energy of the built structures was reduced to the minimum levels in which the most stable state of the materials was achieved. Two miscibility tests, blending energy and mixing energy, were done on the optimized structures. In blending test, acetone was proven as a better solvent to dissolve the Styrofoam cup as compared to water. The temperature range of 0–56 o C was used in the mixing energy analysis. Results showed that the miscibility of the Styrofoam cup-acetone system was higher than the Styrofoam-water system at all temperatures. Besides, both systems also showed improvement of miscibility at elevated temperature.
