Brij Mohan
It has been a privilege to serve academia in various fields of the arts and humanities for about six decades. I have finally reached the goal-- a full-time writer-- that I cherished for a long time. It affords me the tranquility that I needed to focus on issues that confront humankind. My work spans many genres--books, journal articles, editorials, conferences, and Letters to the Editor.
My search for a paradigm that uplifts the human condition amidst the thunders of a new tribal-authoritarianism, confounded by AI, threatens human survival. Civility and citizenship are foundational pillars of a decent democracy, which is endangered by the forces of New Tribalism that I wrote about in Eclipse of Freedom (Mohan, 1993). Freedom From What? Who is afraid of freedom? Scholars, scientists, and intellectuals have a challenging role in rebuilding a broken society.
Supervisors: I search for light and learning everywhere!
