The Lutheran and Catholic communions' commitment to the first-ever positive joint commemoration since 1517 in From Conflict to Communion (2013) is a head-start. The quincentenary is God's kairos moment for bringing all churches together (not just Lutherans and Catholics) to more fully and more visibly enter into the unity that we already share in the common faith. How we prepare towards the commemoration will mark the future of the churches. The urgency for making the concerted effort is now.

This article brings the 2013 Joint Working Group text Reception and the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Commission on Unity's 2013 report From Conflict To Communion into dialogue with the 2017 commemoration of the Reformation with Reformed Christianity, Anabaptists, Baptists, Brethren, Evangelicals, and Pentecostals. This investigation takes as its backdrop the mutual recognition and reception of churches. The paper reviews recent documents with a view to applying the reception of the quincentenary vision among these churches.

This consonance in EG, TTL, and CTC is significant given the dissonance on theological and missiological perspectives across the representing ecclesial bodies since the mid-20th century. Following a review of pneumatology in these three documents, the paper proposes a forward-looking trajectory to a more expansive view of the Spirit's ever-mysterious operations in the church, in missions, and in the world.

The context for the Joint Commission for Orthodox-Catholic dialogue warrants the use of the metaphor " two lungs of the church " by official church leaders, ecclesiologists and theologians to speak of the Spirit's work in and between both communions. However, I want to call attention to the pneumatological and ecclesiological problems in the use of the image " two lungs of the church. " If the Holy Spirit breathes upon and through the Body of Christ, reading the Spirit's operation in the church (pneumatological-ecclesiology) cannot ignore, and much less dismiss or absorb (either explicitly or implicitly), the charismas outside of the Roman Catholic Church and Orthodoxy. Protestant denominations, such as Baptists, Brethren, Evangelicals, Presbyterians, Pentecostals and Charismatics are also contexts for studying the Spirit's work in the churches. The paper concludes by proffering a mapping of recent pneumatological contributions of other Christian denominations and churches to invite theologians to assist in reframing or reconceptualizing a more appropriate anatomic metaphor for the Spirit's work in and among the churches together.

Dr. Jeffrey Gros, F.S.C. In particular, his contributions that are examined relate to (1) ecumenical education in the Catholic tradition, the Pentecostal tradition, and for a wider ecumenical readership; (2) official dialogues, reports, and the cultivation of ecumenical relationships between/among communions; and (3) contemporary and future trajectories in ecumenism and ecclesiology. The commemorative essay begins with an introduction to his vocational calling and service, and it concludes with essential lessons he might have shared to orient aspiring ecumenists. I offer a hypothesis that, apart from the trajectory of hospitality, the constructs of ecclesial identity and accountability as ecumenical categories pose more problems than they would assist in the separated churches1 process toward full and visible communion. After an analysis of the current taxonomy of ecumenical proposals, I hope to re-engage the ecumenical project by proposing a theological rethinking of “recognition״ in an interdisciplinary discourse.
