An architecture based on single-server serving multiple clients has been proposed, which enables all neighboring power systems to have simultaneous access to the remote load flow server for continuous load flow solutions. RMI (Remote Method Invocation) based distributed database environment has been implemented in such a way that for every specific period of time, the remote server obtains data from each neighboring power system client's database and provides continuous automated load flow solutions to all the registered power system clients. In this proposed work, a multi client - single server RMI architecture with heterogeneous distributed database environment has been implemented which provides continuous instant load flow solutions for the systems spread over remote geographical locations.

Martin Burtscher algorithm is used for data compression since most of the power system data is expressed in per unit representation which is in floating point format. Many research works have been reported for representing and solving power system problems in distributed environments which include RMI, Component based, SOA and Grid computing. As the size of the power system is growing large and large due to increase in demand and the interconnections between large power systems may vary time to time due to addition of new generating units and due to geographic conditions, it becomes difficult to estimate the current operating states of the real time electric power system network and data communications between the network becomes difficult. The proposed method of power system data compression finds faster rate of data communications where the data is required for realtime analysis in a distributed environment.

A single-server/multi-client architecture which enables the neighboring power systems to access the remote load flow server at any time, with their respective data and to get the load flow solutions from the remote server has been proposed. An RMI (Remote Method Invocation) based distributed environment has been implemented in such a way that for every specific period of time, the remote server obtains the system data simultaneously from the neighboring power systems which are the clients registered with the remote load flow server and the load flow solutions from the server have been sent back to the respective clients. The load flow server creates a new thread of control for every client's request and hence complete distributed environment is exploited.

A component which is based on a single-server serving multiple clients has been proposed which enables all neighboring power systems to have simultaneous access to the remote economic load dispatch server for obtaining continuous load dispatch solutions. An EJB (Enterprise Java Beans) based, distributed environment has been implemented in such a way that each power system client can access the remote economic load dispatch EJB server through JNDI (Java Naming and Directory Interface) naming service with its power system data. The server computes the economic load dispatch and it provides the continuous automated load dispatch solutions to all the registered power system clients. Economic load dispatch EJB server inherently creates a new thread of control for every client request and hence complete component based distributed environment can be achieved.

A test case of IEEE30 bus power system and different types of fault are simulated using PowerWorld v.18 software. Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) software was used to implement Cluster Analysis with Cosine Similarity models towards the data simulated by PowerWorld software. The proposed model has two processes the first process will determine 3 phase fault, single line-to-ground fault and double line-to-ground fault. A Second process will determine line-to-line fault and double line-to-ground fault too. In some cases double line-to-ground fault can be determined in first process, but in this paper the double line-to-ground fault was determined by a second process. In the proposed model each phase of the nominal per unit bus voltages will be clustered and the output will be evaluated together with uninterrupted phase voltage data in order to determine the bus at fault and the types of fault. The innovative proposed model had successfully determined the bus at fault and the types of fault in 30 bus Power System.

Cluster analysis-based data mining techniques model has been implemented to locate the three-phase transmission lines fault in IEEE 30 bus power system. Power World version 18 software was used to simulate the IEEE 30 bus power system and the three-phase transmission lines fault. The bus voltages at fault were collected and import to R statistical software to identify the faults at buses. Through cluster analysis using squared euclidean distance method, fault has been identified at each bus. Then the data also imported to R statistical package to compute the cophenetic distance of dendrogram and check the accuracy of clustering. This meant that the application of data mining techniques yields a huge potential in solving complex problems related to power system, it not only yield an accurate result but also fast computation. The proposed innovative successful model was able to locate the fault at each bus by bus nominal voltage comparison method.

The proposed model has an excellent display notice board to display notices or messages at places that require real-time visibility, thereby transferring messages by Short Message Service (SMS) through cellular device. The proposed work in this paper elaborately narrates the procedure to construct a display notice board that has the quality of displaying messages in continuously running mode, and enabling the user to alter the ongoing message using SMS instantaneously. This system also has the feasibility to bind with other devices such as PC or laptop. The best feature of proposed system is the dual system for changing messages. And also utilizes two way power supply such as Renewable energy (Solar Power) and AC power. This feature enables the proposed model to work under any situations which overcomes the drawback in the existing display notice boards. Additionally, a motion detector has been included which turn ON or OFF the system automatically if any motion is not sensed.

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems control and monitor industrial and criti... more Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems control and monitor industrial and critical infrastructure functions, such as electricity, gas, water, waste, railway, and traffic. The main objective of this work is to develop SCADA simulation model for packaging system in dry ice plant. Dry ice is an important refrigerant for keeping foods cold and preventing bacterial growth during shipment. Dry ice used for cooling or freezing foods must be very clean and considered food grade to ensure that food it may touch will not be contaminated. Some recent developments for its use include using the pellets in blasting or cleaning and its increasing use in transporting medical specimens, including hearts, limbs, and tissues, for reattachment and transplantation. The manufacturing process of dry ice has not changed significantly in many decades and is a relatively simple process of pressurizing and cooling gaseous carbon dioxide. But because of its growing demand, packaging becomes vital. An attempt has been made to develop and automate LOGIXPRO based SCADA simulations for dry ice plant to improve packaging and extensively reduce operating labor costs.

Hydropower energy is broadly used all over the world, whether in the form of minihydro for a single village or a massive dam to serve the entire country. Industrialized countries have utilized their hydro potential extensively. However, in the developing world, particularly in the equatorial zone, hydropower remains an option with considerable potential for satisfying energy needs. The study was conducted using the RETScreen Clean Energy Project Analysis software. Based on hydrology analysis, the design of mini hydro is optimized by considering costing, efficiency, expected operating and capacity factor. In addition, plant design and size are evaluated by using capacity factor, NPV and payback period. From the financial analysis, a NPV value of RM3.5 million and payback period of 10.8 years is obtained for the u...

Solar collectors are commonly utilized to convert solar energy directly into heat for purposes ranging from house heating to timber seasoning and crop drying. The purpose of this research is to design a modified solar air heater (SAH) with a baffle plate and to examine the performance due to the provision of zinc-ferrite nanocoated baffles. The entire system is mounted over a transformer for effective cooling and also produces hot air for industrial requirements. A flat plate collector and a centrifugal blower were used in the experiment. Maximum output air temperatures of 55°C, 62°C, and 72°C were measured for collectors without baffles, baffled collectors, and inverted baffled collectors, respectively. It was also found that the thermal efficiency of flat plate collectors without baffles was 36%, with baffles, it was 44%, and with inverted baffles it...
