The growth of cities and increase in their structural density lead to several problems. The most important of these is the formation of urban heat islands and the decrease in the bioclimatic comfort levels. This study focuses on the effect of different planting alternatives on bioclimatic comfort. In this context, different planting options with only leafy, only coniferous, leafy and coniferous at half at 4 m, 6 m, and 8 m intervals along with the current planting state of the study area in Gaziantep, Turkey were prepared. These plans were simulated with ENVI-met software. As a result of the study, coniferous plants were observed to have a cooling effect of approximately 2 °C-2.5 °C compared to the leafy ones. In the simulation results of the map obtained with coniferous mixed plants, it was determined that the cooling effect values of only coniferous and only leafy plants were at almost average. Relative humidity was 15% higher in the plan conducted with coniferous plants compared to leafy plants. It was about 8% higher than leafy ones in mixed planning. There was no significant change in wind speed maps. In the plans with 4 m intervals on average radiation temperature maps, the refreshing effect of the coniferous was more than the leafy. As a result of the study, it was found out that the highest cooling effect was achieved in the planting plan created at 4 m intervals using coniferous plants.

Meydanlar insanların bir araya gelerek sosyal aktivitelerde bulunduğu ve kentin genel karakterine uygun olarak şekillenen, belirli sınırlar ile çevrelenmiş mekânlar olarak ifade edilebilir. Günümüzde meydanların, ticari, kültürel ve rekreasyonel amaçlı kullanımları oldukça yaygındır. Özelikle gençlerin bir araya geldiği, sosyal ilişkiler kurduğu, fizyolojik ihtiyaçlarını karşıladığı, kişisel gelişime ve sosyalleşmeye yönelik kazanımları elde ettiği üniversite kampüsünde yer alan meydan karakteri taşıyan mekânlar oldukça önemlidir. Kilis 7 Aralık Üniversitesi 2007 itibariyle kurulmuş ve fiziksel gelişimini sürdürmektedir. Kampüs yapılanması sonrası sosyal etkinliklere de ev sahipliği yapabilecek bir mekân olarak meydan peyzaj tasarım projesi oluşturulmasına ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. Bu ihtiyaç doğrultusunda yapılan proje ile mekanın sosyal ve kültürel etkinliklerin gerçekleştirilebilmesine izin vermesinin yanı sıra günlük kullanıma da fırsat veren bir yaklaşım içerisinde olmasına önem gösterilmiştir. Söz konusu proje üniversite yönetimi tarafından uygulanmış ve üniversite kullanıcıları tarafından sıklıkla tercih edilen bir mekân haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Kilis 7 Aralık Üniversitesi özelinde gerçekleştirilen kampüs meydan tasarımını proje ve uygulama aşamalarıyla birlikte incelemektir. Bu bağlamda yapılan çalışmanın kampüs meydanlarının tasarımına ve kullanımına yönelik önemli ipuçları verme niteliğinde olacağı düşünülmektedir. Böylelikle yeni yapılacak olan benzer projelere kurgusal bağlamda katkılarda bulunabilecektir.

Schoolyards are important components of open-green spaces that shape the physical structure of cities and contribute to citizens from ecological, social and cultural perspectives. These areas are potential educational environments where children and young people can develop their physical, social, emotional and mental skills, and they also act as the key actors to acquire environmental awareness. Designing these areas according to some ecological indicators to have better open-green field qualifications for school gardens in the cities and better relationships with nature is extremely important for contributing to the urban ecosystem and the multifaceted development of the users. The most important indicators are green field ratio, naturalness value of the plants used and vegetation variety. This study examines the open and green areas of 58 schools (8 kindergartens, 36 primary schools, 14 high schools) in Kilis city center within the framework of these indicators. The results show that the amount of open-green areas per person in all schools is below the standard. In the study area, primary schools have the least ratio of green areas and the least amount of green areas per person while high schools have the highest ratio of green spaces. The average naturalness score in all schools is over 60%, but vegetation diversity in schoolyards is insufficient. As a result of the study, it was determined that schoolyards in the city have deficiencies regarding their contribution to urban ecosystem, healthy development of children / young people and establishing relations with nature. So, some suggestions were produced in this context.

Purpose Campus areas should be designed as centers where social activities can be fulfilled to meet students' needs, and which can serve the society by promoting sustainability. Nowadays, transportation systems (bike path, public transport, etc.) that support sustainability are not very common in campus areas. This situation leads to many environmental, economic and social problems. Therefore, it is extremely important to develop sustainable transport plans to uncover the current state of the transport system and to meet future transport needs. In the study, it was aimed to compare the spatial characteristics of Kilis 7 Aralik University's current situation and its design in line with sustainable transportation principles. A significant decline has been experienced in the quality of life of people living in cities due to the deterioration of the ecological balance, decrease in biodiversity, together with air, noise and water pollution occurring as a result of population growth and urbanization. All of these factors have triggered global warming, which is one of the biggest problems in recent years. For this reason, the climate has become one of the most important factors in urban design works. The purpose of the present study is to determine the microclimatic contribution of urban open spaces to the city in the context of climate-balanced physical planning criteria, and to propose an analytical model, which may constitute a basis for planning and design works. Firstly, the climatic requirements of the city of Gaziantep were examined by creating bioclimatic comfort maps. In the following stage, monthly wind roses were created by determining the dominant wind directions for the summer and winter seasons. Optimum location and directions that were balanced with climate were determined and slope and aspect maps of the area, land use types and area selection criteria were also created. In light of these data, ecological compatibility and feasibility maps were prepared. In the feasibility map, the temperature and humidity maps were created with ENVI-met, which is a climatic simulation software, for the most extreme days in an area where there were residential areas and educational institutions, multi-storey residential areas, working areas, social and open green areas, and afforestation areas. The results that were obtained with the simulations were subjected to Regression Analysis to determine the relationship among the climate parameters and the design criteria. As a result, the increase in the quantity of urban green spaces and equality on the spatial distribution of these areas will improve bioclimatic comfort (the warmest hour of the hottest period regression analysis' result is β=-0.384). It has been determined that planning high-density plantation in green spaces and selecting dense and broad-leaved plants will provide a cooling effect (on average 2−3°C less). Furthermore, adding more green spaces in cities will increase the thermal comfort within city blocks, especially where high-rise buildings are common. It is confirmed that high-rise buildings cause thermal stress (the warmest hour of the hottest period regression analysis' result is β = 0.472). Hardscapes have a negative effect on the temperature (the warmest hour of the hottest period regression analysis' result is β = 0.425). In addition to these data, it was found that the mean radiant temperature values, instead of temperature values, would yield more accurate results in microclimate analyses and interpretations.

The study focuses on accessibility to green spaces. In this context, the study aims to determine the accessibility of green areas in metric and topological terms, and to examine and discuss their social and functional contributions. Design/Methodology/Approach The study was designed in 5 stages. In the first phase of the study, a convex area map was formed within the limit of accessibility based on the literature research. In the second phase, the axial map was created. In the third phase, the integration map was used to determine the visual perceptibility of the green areas within the study area. The Depthmap software was used in analysis and creation of the maps. In the fourth phase, all findings obtained are explained and discussed with detailed graphics and maps. In the last phase of the study, some suggestions regarding the study area and general spatial planning approach were developed in the light of scientific principles in order to ensure urban green areas' contribution to the city and residents Findings All analysis results were evaluated in a holistic manner and the spatial relationship between residential areas and green areas in the study area was found to be weak and the perception of green areas was moderate. Research Limitations/Implications Further studies should be conducted to evaluate the accessibility of several parks of different sizes with other various methods. In the study, accessibility values were obtained with the Space syntax method. These values can be compared to each other with other analysis methods. Practical Implications This analysis will enable issues such as park locations in city plans, their size, and intervals to be more professionally handled. Thus, living space conditions and indirectly cities will be improved. As a result, urban life quality will flourish. Social Implications Urban green spaces are important components of the city in that they contribute positively to urban residents in terms of environmental, social, economic etc. aspects. For this reason, it is extremely important for people to have easy access to parks for socialization purposes. Originality/Value It is considered that examining accessibility with the space syntax method, unlike other conventional methods, adds an important value to the study.

Pandemi, dünya üzerinde birden fazla ülke ve kıtada, geniş bir alanda yayılış gösteren direkt ya da dolaylı olarak tüm insanlığı etkileyen salgın hastalıkların genel adıdır. 2019 yılı sonunda Çin'de ortaya çıkarak dünyaya yayılan Covid-19 Koronavirüs salgını da geçen iki yılın ardından hala etkileri devam eden bir pandemi niteliği taşımaktadır. Bu etkiler, sağlık boyutuyla ağır tablolar ve ölümlü vakalara kadar varırken, sosyo-ekonomik yönüyle de insan faaliyetlerinin her seviyesinde etkin düzenlemeler ve kısıtlamalara yol açmaktadır. Derinden etkilenen sektörlerden biri de eğitim-öğretim sektörüdür. Pandemi ile birlikte dünyada ve Türkiye'de farklı düzenlemelerle uzaktan eğitim çalışmaları uygulanmaya başlanmıştır. Bu süreçte Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli Üniversitesi'nde de eğitim-öğretime uzaktan devam edilmesi kararlaştırılmıştır. Bu çalışmada; uygulamalı ders yoğunluğu olan meslek disiplinlerinden biri olan peyzaj mimarlığı bilim dalı lisans öğrencilerinin deneyim ve düşüncelerinin saptanması yoluyla, uzaktan ve yüz yüze eğitim süreçlerinin öğrenci verimi açısından avantaj ve dezavantajları belirlenmeye çalışılmış, ortaya çıkan bulgular üzerinden değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Uzaktan eğitim sürecinde; öğrencilerin özellikle uygulamalı derslerde dersi anlamada zorluk yaşadıkları ancak ödev hazırlamanın daha kolay olduğu, genel sorunların kişisel adaptasyon eksikliğinden kaynaklandığı, sosyal hayatın içinde daha başarılı ve mutlu oldukları, mesleki açıdan gelişimde ve zamanı verimli kullanmak için iyi bir fırsat olduğu sonuçları ortaya çıkmıştır.

Toplumlar kültürel birikimlerine sahip çıkarak gelişirler ve var olurlar. Birçok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapmış Anadolu’nun her yerinde, bu köklü kültürün derin izlerine rastlanmaktadır. Bu izleri taşıyan kültürel miras alanları; toplumların kültür birikimleriyle şekillenmiş, geçmiş ile bugün arasında bağlantı kuran tarihi, kültürel somut ve soyut değerlerin tümüdür. Hiç şüphesiz Hacı Bektaş Veli’de yaşadığı yüzyıla iz bırakırken sahip olduğu misyonu ve değerleriyle günümüze kadar gelmiş kültürel miraslarımızda önemli bir yer tutan mutasavvıf ve İslam filozofudur. 13. yüzyılda Nevşehir ili Hacıbektaş ilçesinde kurduğu külliye, vefatından sonra türbenin de aynı alan içine inşa edilmesiyle birlikte kültürel misyonunu daha da genişletmiştir. Kendi adıyla özdeşleşen Bektaşilik ve Ahilik geleneğinin de beslendiği sevgi, hoş görü, toplumsal eşitlik gibi insani değerleriyle bu kültürel miras ve çevresi, sadece yerel değil evrensel ölçekte de büyük bir öneme sahiptir.
