In addition, pedestrian population is dramatically increased for huge number of urban migration for by the establishment of so-called labor intensive many garment industries, all head offices, business, better communication, better employment, good and higher educational opportunities, health facilities and higher income etc. But there are very lacks of pedestrian facility and which are available that are not proper use for the cause of enormous deficiency (Mahmud et al) Daynik Bangla – Rajuk Office is one of the major arterial pavement which connects the Central Business District (CBD) with the city. Though on-street parking is provided along the pavement to meet up the existing parking demand, there is a huge pressure of on-street parking in this pavement. It affects the normal movement of the pedestrian and flow of traffic through the pavement. As a result, the efficiency of this downtown has been worsening day by day. DIT Pavement is a north-south directional primary pavement serves a major demand of the city but the pavement is fully discontinuous. In Gulistan circle, a heavy flow of pedestrian is seen. Pedestrian crossing facilities is poor. The most serious problem is the encroachment of retailer traders and hawker on footpaths. As a consequence, pedestrians are often forced to walk in the street instead of the footpaths which increases the risk of traffic related pedestrian injuries and also have the adverse effect of the reducing the capacity of the pavement and thereby increasing congestion (Mahmud et al) Moreover, dustbins on the streets close to the footpath cause problems to pedestrians when the garbage stored inside these overflow on the streets and footpaths. Besides, footpaths used for toilet purpose create problems in walking. As in the study area (Dainik Banglar Mor to Gulistan Circle), the conditions of urban design elements of pavements are not so good and These cannot ensure comfortable movement and safety for pedestrian. In this term paper, the main focus is on evaluation of pedestrian problem (safety and moving) and lack of existing facility of the city. Finally, on the basis of analysis some suggestion and recommendation is given which should be required immediately for safe, efficient and appropriate movement of huge number of pedestrian in the study area. 2. Objectives of the study: • To explore the present condition of pavement in the study area. • To assess the impact of present condition of the pedestrian in the study area. • To explore the existing problems that are encountered by pedestrians • To examine the scope of improvement of existing facilities • To recommend options to improve pedestrian facilities in the study area.
