Although neonicotinoids are generally considered to be safe, data show that they can cause harmful effects on human and environmental health. Due to the lack of information on their mechanism of toxicity, the effects of imidacloprid and thiamethoxam on DNA methylation as the most used marker for epigenetic effects were investigated in human neuroblastoma (SH-SY5Y) cells. The cells were exposed to imidacloprid and thiamethoxam in concentrations of 100, 200, and 500 μM for 24 hours, then global DNA methylation and expression of genes involved in global DNA methylation ( DNMT1, DNMT3a and DNMT3b) were investigated. Global DNA methylation significantly increased after imidacloprid exposure at 100 μM, and thiamethoxam exposures at 200 µM and 500 μM (>1.5-fold). Imidacloprid significantly decreased the expression of D...

However, the possibility of micro-cracking in the material at the end of the forging process should be considered. The main constraints here are the aging of hydraulic systems and possible casting defects. Therefore, in this study, the modernized process of an old forging press with a capacity of 30000 kN was carried out. For this purpose, the capacity of the forging press has been increased by modifying a new generation pump and hydraulic accumulator group. Thus, by increasing the cycle time of the hydraulic forging press, it is known that effective forging can be performed in a shorter time (from 1.7 to 1.3 seconds). When the modernization results are examined, it is seen that the necessary forging processes can be completed before the material cools down to the critical temperature.

As of April 14th 2020, this mission delivered public light curves for 1000 TESS Objects of Interest (TOIs), observed with 2 minute cadence during the first 20 months of the mission. Here, we present a search for rotation signatures in these TOIs, using Fast Fourier Transform, Lomb-Scargle, and wavelet techniques, accompanied by a rigorous visual inspection.

Research on non-Muslim minorities in Turkey during the 1950s has mainly focused on 6-7 September 1955 events; however, the political and ideological conditions in which these events took place have not been fully examined. The minority press has a long history, starting mainly in the last quarter of the 19th century during the Ottoman Empire. Few of the periodicals continued after the formation of the new Republic in 1923. I looked through copies of Jewish, Armenian and Greek community newspapers published in Istanbul, in the1950s, namely Şalom, Jamanak and Apogevmatini, reviewing their Cold War positions, policies and discussions focusing on three different, but interrelated levels: The first one is international relations; the second level is national; the last point is the group dynamics and specificities of their ideological/political positions.

Roots are over there; that is, you don't belong here, you are not a human being here; you are a foreigner; that you can not exist. Then I went there and I felt that I don't belong there either. There is something missing here and there. I don't belong here, something missing there. It's too hard.

With the outbreak of crisis, security concerns come to the front in the Black Sea geography. This high level of war risk crisis has taken place on the international agenda for a long time. The developments in Crimea together with Ukrainian Crisis, had led to increase of question marks about the future of Crimean Tatars. Indeed, after the outbreak of crisis, the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation today is still considered illegal in terms of compliance with international treaties by many countries. At the same time, all of the backgrounds of these developments are highlighted by several sources stating the rivalry between the Western World and the Russian Federation. Among the reasons that Ukraine especially Crimea have great importance for Russia in military, economic and historical factors have come forth. In this context, Russia who wants to keep Ukraine in his near abroad, acts toward ...
Urban Transformation and Nostalgia in Merdivenkoy, Istanbul

In life story narratives, these three examples give us information about the history, economic linkage, and life styles of neighboring families. The first category basically consists of the families that live in the area for a very long time, over some decades or more. Even one of them mentioned that, their family is living there for hundreds of years. The second category, which represents the biggest group living in the area, consists of families migrated from Sivas, a central Anatolian city, in the 1950s. Third category consist of Kurds migrated from eastern Anatolian villages and cities such as Mardin. Each category has different kinds of nostalgia about the past. Interviewees from the first category talk about family narratives related to the small village Merdivenköy, Fikirtepe and the area. Mostly, they have a story of a “well off” family, structured and detailed narratives about the family history, including relations with the Ottoman Palace such as doing some sort of production for it. They seem very sensitive about the local cultural characteristics and what’s going on in the area; realistic about and reconciled with what will happen as a result of slum clearance. Interviewees from the second category mostly emphasize the hardship of settling in a muddy suburban area, where once “muddy lands” now turned out to become valuable urban properties on which new and modern neighborhoods, shopping malls and office buildings will be built. They are expecting to get maximum gain out of the exchange of their small property, since they are desperately in need, because of the financial crisis situation. Although their houses with small gardens near the small industrial area are small, old, and neglected for years, they expect the most. Relatively newcomers, Kurdish people in the area talk about the good old days on the one hand and the painful stories about migration and settling on the other hand. They do not think about going back to their native lands, since here it is easier for them to find jobs in the informal economy as they live very close to central parts of the city. As a part of a larger research study focused on the experience of urban transformation, we made more than 50 interviews, trying to make a general outlook of the area, working on the dynamics of change before and after the urban transformation that had been started in June 2010. By using oral history research techniques and social science methodology, we conducted in-depth interviews with the people living in the neighborhood, made observations in the neighborhood and took photographs. The author’s work is about the reflections of nostalgia in their family histories and experiences of different categories of families living in the area referring life story narratives. As far as the author can see in each group he works on, there are different contradictions related to their position in the city and conception of the area. The urban transformation presented and is perceived as a fortune for all of them, but it will have contradictory outcomes in reality for each as indicated in other examples in the world. "
Test Automation with the Gauge Framework: Experience and Best Practices

For example, they often enforce strict syntax for test cases, like the “Given-When-Then” format, which may not always be easy to write for a given test case. A new test automation framework named Gauge (gauge.org) addresses that limitation since it does not prescribe the BDD testing process with a strict syntax. In Gauge, writing a test case is as easy as writing down the flow of test cases in several itemized sentences in a natural language, like English. In the context of Testinium (testinium.com), a large software testing company which provides software testing services, tools and solutions to a large number of clients, we have actively used the Gauge framework since 2018 to develop large automated front-end test suites for several large web applications. In this paper/talk, the speakers will share several examples and best practices of developin...

We have chosen, from a set of open-source/commercial MBT tools, an open-source tool named GraphWalker, and have pragmatically used MBT for end-to-end test automation of several large web and mobile applications under test. The MBT approach has provided, so far in our project, various tangible and intangible benefits in terms of improved test coverage (number of paths tested), improved test-design practices, and also improved real-fault detection effectiveness. The goal of this experience report (applied research report), done based on "action research", is to share our experience of applying and evaluating MBT as a software technology (technique and tool) in a real industrial setting. We aim at contributing to the body of empirical evidence in industrial application of MBT by sharing our industry-academia project on applying MBT in practice, the insights that we have gained, and the challenges and questions that we have faced and tackled so far. We discuss an overview of the industrial setting, provide motivation, explain the events leading to the outcomes, discuss the challenges faced, summarize the outcomes, and conclude with lessons learned, takeaway messages, and practical advices based on the described experience. By learning from the best practices in this paper, other test engineers could conduct more mature MBT in their test projects.

Comparisons of these two methods were performed and reported on parameters of code line number, actual error detection rate, test run time parameters. In the model based test method, the tests were developed by using Selenium library with Graph Walker tool. In traditional tests, modular tests were preferred and JUnit and TestNG libraries were used. As a result of the comparisons with the specified parameters, it was concluded that the model based test reduces the burden of test formation as predicted and is fast and inclusive.

To quantify photocatalytic efficiency of P-25, textile production was performed in a harmony with textile manufacturing by combining finishing process and coating procedure. The results of the study suggest that the textiles treated with P-25 particles produced without a secondary treatment were effectively coated and their stain discoloration ability was also validated with solid color spectrometer.

In this study, the effectiveness of CMP implementation on titanium-based implant surface modification was compared to machined implants, such as baseline and etching and biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) particle-based sand blasting treatments, in terms of the surface chemical and mechanical performance. Initially, a lab-scale 3D CMP technique was developed and optimized on commercial dental implant samples. The mechanical competitiveness of the dental implants treated with the selected methods was examined with the Vickers microhardness test as well as pull-out force and removal torque force measurements. Furthermore, the surface structures were quantified through evaluation of the arithmetic mean roughness parameter (Ra). Subsequently, the surface chemistry changes on the t...
