I... more This text addresses the triple intersection between Journalism, Public Relations and Marketing. It argues that the three are discrete but inter-related systems, each one with its own logic and structure. As Public Relations take care of the public image of an organization, Marketing is the responsible to sell products or ideas, and Journalism is grounded on the public display of information provided by sources. These differences are the reason of the diverse public response to each one - since they three are constitutive elements of public communication, they cast public interest information to the society.

Eine theoretische Annäherung Gesellschaften, die sich im Status der Transition befinden, sind in vielfältiger Weise gefordert, nicht nur im Hinblick auf die Veränderung ihrer Systeme, sondern auch im Hinblick auf die kulturellen Umbrüche. Diese Umbrüche machen sich vor allem als Veränderung der Kommunikationsmuster bemerkbar. Im Kontext der medialen gesellschaftlichen Kommunikation repräsentieren sich diese Umbrüche natürlich in der Umstellung des Mediengebrauch durch Rezpienten, aber auch in der Praxis der journalistischen Medienkultur: Journalistinnen und Journalisten lernen um, sie redefinieren ihre Rollenauffassung, ihre geysellschaftliche Funktion und ihre ethischen Prinzipien. Nicht selten vermischen sich dann politische, journalistische und private Deutungssysteme. Der Artikel bemüht sich, für die Beschreibung, Klärung, Ordnung und Wertung dieses kulturellen (und professionellen) Wandels einen Rahmen von Begriffen aufzustellen, die zwar im Umfeld der Theorien des sozialen Wandels definiert sind, aber weiter greifen (und auch weiter ausgelegt werden) und daher auch als theoretische Referenzen für die Analyse des Transitionsprozesses und dessen Auswirkungen auf die Medien-und Kommunikationsgesellschaft angewandt werden können. In diesem Sinne beschreibt der Artikel auch ein abstraktes Modell für die kritische Analyse der Transitionsperspektive in der türkischen Gesellschaft, auch wenn diese hier nicht sui generis untersucht wird Schlüsselwörter: Transition, sozialer wandel, journalismuskultuı. Geçiş sürecindeki toplumlar sadece sistemlerinde olan değişikliğe değil, kültürel devrimlere de ihtiyaç duyarlar. Bu dönüşümler her şeyden önce kendilerini iletişim örneklerinde gösterirler. We investigated histological and compressive properties of a calcium phosphate bone cement (BoneS... more We investigated histological and compressive properties of a calcium phosphate bone cement (BoneSource (CPC); Stryker Orthopaedics, Mahwah, New Jersey) plus carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) using a sheep vertebral bone void model. Bone voids were surgically created in L3 and L5 in each of 40 sheep, and the voids were filled with the cement. Histological and radiographic evaluations were performed on one vertebral body from each animal at either: 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, or 36 months after surgery; mechanical testing was performed on operated and non-operated vertebral bodies from 35 sheep. Undecalcified sections were digitized, and the area of the original defect, new bone formation, empty space, fibrous tissue, and residual cement were quantified with histomorphometry. Decalcified sections were evaluated qualitatively. The cement was biocompatible, extremely osteoconductive and underwent steady resorption and replacement by bone and bone marrow. Histomorphometry showed variations in the rate of cement remodeling among animals in each time group, but on average, at 36 months the original defect area was occupied by approximately 14% bone, 82% cement, and 4% bone marrow. Even in animals that had greater resorption of cement, there was good bone ingrowth with no fibrous tissue. Compressive testing did not reveal a significant difference in the mechanical properties between vertebral bodies augmented with cement and non-augmented controls, irrespective of the postoperative time. BoneSource mixed with CMC had adequate osteoconductivity, biocompatibility, and adequate compressive strength. There was variability among animals, but histology suggests that considerable cement was still present in most samples after 36 months.

Denn die Medienumwelt spiegelt und interpretiert die soziale Praxis und wird do selbst symbolische Umwelt. Vermutlich geht diese Behauptung gar nicht weit genug. Denkt man den gedanklichen Ansatz zu Ende, dann wird man nämlich behaupten können: Wenn etwas Relevanz erhält in dieser Gesellschaft, dann vor allem -oder oft nur- im Kontext von Medien. Noch aber ist diese Eingangsthese zu platt und zu undifferenziert.

Humans, since discursively constructing their environment, execute their life in both ways, as an... more Humans, since discursively constructing their environment, execute their life in both ways, as an existential part and as well as in the way of a structural and culturally programmed partnership of their environment, which can inwards be differentiated as natural, as social, as cultural and as symbolic environment, though the one is discursively interrelated with all the others – at least on the level of the relationship between human and environment: there is no qualified relationship to nature, if this does not stake in a (morally) qualified cultural, social, and symbolic habit. The attitude they adopt towards nature (land) decides on the cultural level the notion of landscape as a symbolic figure of environment. And vice-verse: the notion of a landscape intervenes attitudes and habit towards nature. The decisive moment is the construction (thinking, building, adopting) of relationship. Media provide the individual as well the society with symbolic environment – thus framing the symbolic interaction (cf. Mead 1973).
Taking that as a starting point of arguing a rough design on media humanism - meant by purpose as an anthropo-logical stimulus to rethink the theoretical concepts of media in and because of their relation to the human conditions of social life (humankind existence) as well as to the notion of dignity of human, humanity and humanness, humanity and humanness.
The pleadings for humanity (humanness) in context of the analysis of societal media event (eventness) and of the inherent chances and challenges for the postulates of values is not morally meant but ethical-logically. The assertive term of humanity is about a determination of a referential measurement (value), which is experienced in context of everyday life, it is about an hermeneutical concept (measurement, interpretation, resolution, calculation) to value the possibilities of enactment of that life-typical permanent conditions of ambivalence. That is only possible within the logical structure of philosophical- phenomenological and hermeneutical approach.

Frankurt – Brüssel – New York: Peter lang, S. 15-48 Lehren und Lernen versteht man als interdependente, jeweils spezifisch typisierte Aktivitäten, die im Rahmen zueinander gewandter und verwandter Rollen den Status von kulturellen, mitunter auch ritualisierten und personalisierten Verhaltensprogrammen zur Aneignung diverser Kulturtechniken (Bildung) genießen: Lehre bietet Bildung (Ausbildung), Lernen generiert Bildung (Wissen). Der gesellschaftlichen Verankerung dieses Rollenprogramms in Bildungsinstitutionen (Schule) ist es zu verdanken, dass man die Möglichkeiten der für notwendig emfundenen Veränderungen von Lernprogrammen immer nur innerhalb dieses Rollenspiels wahrnimmt. Auch dann, wenn über Systemänderungen gesprochen wird, fokussieren diese in der Regel auf den Erhalt, auf die Absicherung oder Kontrolle dieser als zentral gedachten sozialen Figur von Bildung. Darüber hinauszudenken und jenseits dieser Figur neue und anders positionierte Konfigurationen von Bildung zu entwerfen, wird aber möglich, wenn nicht sogar dringlich, wenn man sich der medialen Charakteristik von Gesellschaft besinnt: Medien formen nicht nur die Kultur unserer Gesellschaft, sie sind die Kultur unserer Gesellschaft. In ihnen beschreibt sich die Gesellschaft, wie sie ist. Und sie ist, wie sie sich beschreibt. In diesem weiter gefassten Bogen der Analyse sind " die Medien " aber nicht eine Metapher für ein Werkzeug, sondern eine konzeptuelle Figur für die soziale, kulturelle, symbolische und technische Sphäre, in der sich eine Gesellschaft in vielfältigen Augen-und Seitenblicken als gespiegelt betrachten kann. Im Kontext einer so kulturtheoretisch kurz beschriebenen Mediengesellschaft erkennt sich die Gesellschaft als im Modus " der Medien " realisiertes Konzept von Soziabilität und sozialer Praxis. Und in diesem Bogen, um den Faden dieser Abhandlung wieder aufzunehmen, sind die Möglichkeiten der Beschreibung von Bildung im Kontext einer Mediengesellschaft noch lange nicht ausgeschöpft. It's obvious, Turkey has come into waters of huge crisis, as a society as well as a nation and as... more It's obvious, Turkey has come into waters of huge crisis, as a society as well as a nation and as a country. The reasons are manifold and do not just lie in history or in religion and its contradictory interpretation. They also can be stated in cultural contexts of societal (media-) communication, of acting and reacting in politics, and, of course, of social change. Social change, in sociological context is understood as a phenomenon of alteration of models and of paradigms of social relation (cf. Hall 1975, Giddens 199o): social change is not something that happens first on levels of structures. It happens as cultural performance and signifies mostly unexpected changes that a society experiences in its social and cultural structures. In context of international relations and media-communication it might be interesting to observe, how other societies react socially and politically. The forms of reaction result in a mirror of and for identity building absorbing all open stated or hidden valuations and thus create images with more or less far reaching or deep rooting prejudices. Has mutual observation once come to that level of communication, especially the international one or any communication across boarders of culture, religion or ideology, then it is either difficult to find a balanced sphere of mutual understanding as well as to overcome the crises, unless there is an intervention of and for meta-communication: creating a discursive zone in which there is place for time, motifs, and interest to talk about, how to find a new level and a less uploaded bridge of inter-communication. Exactly that is, what Turkey needs now. The scientific analysis, as a third partner, providing a mirror and a folia of and for reflection, can build such bridges of meta-communication.

Regarding the media communication as the source of public opinion building in a media society, th... more Regarding the media communication as the source of public opinion building in a media society, the question of reliability, relevance, credibility and trust is, taken all in one overall category, a question of media quality – as long as the term of media is meant to represent more than just the technical, the economic or the organizational infrastructure of acting information and communication my means of the media. The quality of media, often used as a concept of professional media work, is more than just this. It is a cultural concept of a literate and socially elaborated usage of media on both sides of the scheme of roles of socially mediated interaction and means more than just the quality of media management or the professionalism of journalism (Bauer 2014: 284), as journalism is not just the whole relevance-factor of media-related or media-based construction of public opinion. Claiming theoretically this both-side understanding of media quality provokes, in case of focusing on journalism, to understand the quality of journalism as a media-literate and professionally elaborated work with and on social communication for and in the interest of communicative values for the constitution of public sphere and the construction of a mindful and meaningful public opinion. Mindfulness and Meaningfulness are considered as the intrinsic factors of the construction of (public and) social reality saying that reality is the perception of relevance and relevance is the socially shared perception through communication (Bauer 2014: 307, 332, 340).

Metaphern der Vernunft Kommunikation und Gesellschaft sind so alltäglich gebrauchte Begriffe, das... more Metaphern der Vernunft Kommunikation und Gesellschaft sind so alltäglich gebrauchte Begriffe, dass man geneigt ist zu vergessen, dass sie nicht fest umrissene Gegebenheiten (Objekte) beschreiben, die abbildgleich das wären, was ihre Begriffe bezeichnen. Vielmehr sind die Begriffe Umschreibungen von Beobachtungen unterschiedlich auszumachender Muster der sozialen Praxis und sich ähnlich wiederholender Zusammenhänge des sozialen Lebens, in die allerdings Deutungen (Konzepte) davon eingemischt werden, wie man sich vorstellen kann (mag), dass sie sein könnten oder zu sein hätten. In dieser Komposition sind Kommunikation und Gesellschaft kulturbegriffliche Konstrukte, die einander brauchen, um jeweils deutungstypisch beschrieben werden zu können. Die Begriffe verdichten lose Beobachtungen in Form von Beschreibungsmetaphern, die jeweils indizieren, wie deren Inhalte grundsätzlich zu denken wären (Paradigma) und welche Denkfiguren (Noemata) dabei grundsätzlich vorstellbar wären: bei Gesellschaft ist es der sozial-differentielle Modus der Vergemeinschaftung und bei Kommunikation die Vergemeinschaftung der differenten Modi (vgl. Bauer 2014; 31). Die beiden Begriffe kennzeichnen zwei Seiten einer Medaille, wobei der Begriff des Mediums (als das verbindende Dritte) des materiell-ästhetische Moment (die Medaille) sowohl von Kommunikation wie von Gesellschaft ausmacht: Das Moment der Medialität verweist Kommunikation und Gesellschaft zueinander. Oder anders: Kommunikation und Gesellschaft haben im Sinne kultur-definierter Beobachtung miteinander zu tun, weil (sic!) sie durch das Medienmotiv (Medialität) ästhetisch-sinnlich ausgewogen zueinander sortiert und gefügt werden. Diese ästhetisch ausgewiesene Fügung von Gesellschaft und Kommunikation ist aber nicht strukturell-funktional zu verstehen (wie: Kommunikation macht (fügt) Gesellschaft, oder: Medien machen (fügen) Kommunikation), sondern als kultur-hermeneutisch begründete Rationalität von Ordnung, Balance und Harmonie: Kommunikation interpretiert, was Gesellschaft ist oder sein könnte. Gesellschaft interpretiert, was Kommunikation meint oder meinen könnte. Es ist – am Ende-das Moment der (ästhetischen) Vernunft, das es möglich und notwendig macht, Gesellschaft im kulturellen Muster von Kommunikation und Kommunikation im kulturellen Muster von Gesellschaft zu denken und zu verhandeln.
