A theoretical model is developed for a low-capacity steam-generating system consisting of a linea... more A theoretical model is developed for a low-capacity steam-generating system consisting of a linear parabolic concentrator and a receiver placed at the focal plane of the concentrator. The variation of the fluid temperature has been studied along the receiver length for different values of the solar concentration ratio. Variations have also been determined of the rate of steam production for different receiver lengths, with and without wind effects, at various solar concentration ratios. Numerical calculations are discussed.

Combustion study of Iraqi natural gas used in diffused shape flame is necessary to improve energy... more Combustion study of Iraqi natural gas used in diffused shape flame is necessary to improve energy conversion in power plants and other usage of thermal systems. Oxidization of fuel to get energy is not a function of chemical reaction speed which happened very fast. This response occurs when there is a mixture contains an amount of air with any selected fuel. This study concentrated on the effect of bouency on flame length since the mixture ejected up to down. Till now, most studies focused on burning fuel in horizontal flame where bouency force effect on its length assumed to be negligible. The result from this study leads to the conclusion that the short flame length that has no effect on the combustion chamber erosion.

Calcite Solubilization by Bacteria: A Novel Method of Environment Pollution Control

Global warming due to the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas, by the anthropogenic sources is a... more Global warming due to the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas, by the anthropogenic sources is a great threat to the environment. A part of this gas is absorbed by soil bacteria as well as aquatic bacteria and it is converted into insoluble calcium carbonate (CaCO3) or calcite. Increased calcite concentration in water and agricultural land creates many problems to the human. In this investigation, an attempt has been made to carry out some experiments to isolate some bacteria from cow dung, which have both calcite solubilization and urease activities. Isolated bacteria solubilize calcite due to the secretion of citric acid, oxalic acid and sanazine pigment. All bacterial isolates were identified by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and the phylogenetic relationship among them was also studied using MEGA 6 software.
