Diplococcium aquaticurn sp. nov., from submerged wood in Australia, is distinct in the genus in having slender conidiophores and pyriform, uniseptate, bicolored conidia. Diplococcium dendrocalami sp. nov., from senescent culms of Dendrocalamus sp. in the Philippines, differs from other species in the genus in having robust, unbranched, attenuated conidiophores and oblong to ellipsoidal, thick-walled, I-2-septate, large conidia.

This species produces long, cylindrical asci and 3-septate ascospores surrounded by a mucilaginous sheath, and differs from other species in Saccardoella in having fusiform ascospores. A key and synopsis of Saccardoella species are provided.

Results of an investigation into the fungi associated with submerged wood in Lake Barrine, north ... more Results of an investigation into the fungi associated with submerged wood in Lake Barrine, north Queensland, Australia are reported. Thirty-nine fungi were identified, 15 ascomycetes, 23 deuteromycetes and one basidiomycete. The frequency of occurrence and the effect of the incubation period on the recovery of fungi has also been investigated and is presented. The new species Massarina lunispora and Dactylaria lakebarrinensis, and some other notable species, are described and illustrated.

We are investigating the fungi occurring on intertidal Nypa fruticans Wurmb. in Brunei and peninsular Malaysia, and in this paper report 11 new species, nine ascomycetes, and two hyphomycetes. For further details of the fungi from Nypa fruticans the reader should refer to Hyde (1992 a, 1994). ASCOMYCETES Aniptodera intermedia K. D. Hyde & Alias, sp. nov. Etymol : In reference to the intermediate characters of this taxon. Ascomata 210-330 µm in diametro, subglobosa, hyalina, membranacea, solitaria, papillata, periphysata. Asci 46-62i15n5-18n5 µm, 8-spori, clavati, pedicellati, unitunicati, ad apicem truncati, apparatu apicali praediti. Ascosporae 10n5-13i7-8 µm, 2-3-seriatae, ellipsoideae, unicellulae, hyalinae. Ascomata 210-330 µm diam., subglobose, hyaline, membraneous, solitary in old fruiting bodies of other ascomata, with a periphysate papilla, which is erumpent through the host surface. Peridium 12n5-15 µm wide, composed of several layers of hyaline cells in the form of textura epidermoidea (Fig. 1). Centrum breaking up into catenophyses (Fig. 2). Asci 46-62i15n5-18n5 µm, 8-spored, clavate, pedicellate, unitunicate, apically truncate, with a refractive apical thickening and pore (Figs 3-7). Ascospores 10n5-13i7-8 µm, 2-3seriate, ellipsoidal, unicellular or occasionally bicelled, hyaline, smooth walled, lacking any sheath or appendages (Figs 8-11).

It differs from other Spadicoides species in having verruculose conidiophores producing verrucose, obclavate, rostrate, multi-euseptate, versicoloured conidia. Spadicoides obclavata Kuthub. & Nawawi var. heterocolorata R.F. Castañeda, Guarro & Cano is considered distinct from Spadicoides obclavata, and Spadicoides heterocolorata comb.nov. is proposed.Key words: Hyphomycetes, Licuala, palm fungi, systematics, tropical fungi.

It differs from other species of Everhartia in producing symmetric, hyaline, aseptate, horseshoe-shaped conidia. Everhartia phoenicis is compared with other species in the genus. Everhartia is very similar to Delortia and the differences between these two genera are discussed. Two species of Everhartia, E. aquatica and E. tumidoapicis are transferred from Delortia.
