Monique Mergoil
In 1989 I started to publish a first book under my name. Now the 'Editions Monique Mergoil' have a catalogue of 135 titles, shared between a dozen of collections (some of them having more than 40 volumes). The aim was to answer the needs of the archaeological community, making use of big books but having little money to print them. Thanks to the 'print-on-demand' technology, all these volumes have been published without any public cost and a minimal impact on trees and other resources.
A specificity of our publishing house is the importance given to the collection directors, who are entitled to choose the manuscripts and check their scientific level. Once a manuscript is accepted, the author needs to provide a 'ready-to-print' pdf but then we do not charge any cost for the printing and trading of the books.
With the help of network technology, we can now send information about our new publications to more than 19.000 institutes, museums and specialists throughout Europe, but also on a world wide scale. Editions Monique Mergoil has therefore become an important actor in publishing activity linked with archaeology.
