The proper application and appreciation of drama as a means towards the proper building of intell... more The proper application and appreciation of drama as a means towards the proper building of intellectuality of pupils in the primary and post-primary schools in Nigeria has been ignored. The rates at which pupils at these levels of education are missing the habits to build intellectuality today are enormous. Ultimately, child development is an aspect of drama in education (children theatre). The 1 teaching of drama in primary and post primary schools has faced a tremendous set back, because stakeholders in the theatre and education have different notions about drama and that has succinctly and really placed the teaching of drama in primary and post-primary schools in the background. This paper investigates and examines the intellectual space created by the non-teaching of drama at these levels of education, and the harm caused by this negligence. The paper concludes and submits that drama should be introduced into the curricula of these levels of education. Children stand to gain greatly from drama if introduced at these levels of education in Nigeria. Because other countries like Great Britain, Russia, America and a host of others have use drama to develop their states.

"Corruption is one of the most dangerous social ills in any society…corruption attacks the vital ... more "Corruption is one of the most dangerous social ills in any society…corruption attacks the vital structures that make for society's progressive functioning, thus putting its very existence into serious peril" (Anger, B. and Tsuwa, J. T.). It is premised on the above epigram, that the study sets out to look at the menace and problematic of corruption on the energetic youth of this nation. Apparently, different scholars, critics, playwrights, poets and novelists and a host of others rigorously engaged with the theme of corruption with its attendant problems. Liken it to Adeyemi (1991:1), "for a very long time, corruption has become recognized as a major problem in Nigeria, where it has become a cankerworm, reaching the dimensions of an endemic". Olorede (2011:219) acknowledges that: "corruption has become a household name in Nigeria" Inspite these efforts the peril of corruption persists. It is against this backdrop that this study want to help in the exhumation of the possible ways the disease called corruption and its effects on our teaming youth can be eradicated. Youth, on the other hand, can be said to be the early time of life. The nature of youthful experience is greatly affected by cultural and economic norms. The passage from youth to adulthood is frequently acknowledged by ritual formalities. Idealized youth is embodied in enduring themes of art and literature. Considering the nature of the study, the researcher adopts a qualitative type of research and content analysis of Niyi Osundaare's State Visit and Emeka Nwabueze's A Parliament of Vultures as instrument with references to other relevant texts. The study concludes that the plays that explore the corrupt system of the Nigerian politics should be written and studied. The paper suggests that such plays should equally be interpreted and analyzed for performances.

Creative mind is seen by array of scholars from the theatre and other disciplines as looking for solution to every challenge that comes before it. There are lot of challenges that are bedevilling the human race at large. One of such issues is that of tribalism, nepotism, political instability which has subsumed mankind in general and Nigeria in particular. It is the quest to seek for rightful solutions to some of these challenges facing the Nigerian society that has make playwrights all over the Nigerian shores to begin write their plays towards ameliorating some these challenges with their creative prowess. The playwrights commence the use of their creative minds to put the Nigerian society in the rightful manner democratically. The study intends reading some select Nigerian playwrights who have creatively used their minds to help in putting the Nigerian democratic practice in the right direction through their creative proficiencies. The paper suggests that the proper examination of creativity in some the plays written by the Nigerian playwrights will help a long way in reshaping the democratic process in Nigeria. The study concludes that the art of playwriting should be encouraged, and redirected towards the reconstruction of the Nigerian democratic practice
