In this experience report, we relate the Capella story from the initial development by Thales down to the open-sourcing strategy. The rationale for adopting the open-source model is detailed with commercial, competitive and strategic arguments. The global roadmap of Capella is then presented. One year after the start of the CLARITY project, a first feedback is shared.

When these services are applied to monitoring the activities of daily living (ADLs) of the elderly, additional constraints related to respect for private and family life must also be taken into consideration. The paper presents the IoT infrastructure that supports the corresponding service. A software and hardware architecture is proposed; as well as the various technical choices; all being guided by these requirements. Experimental results developed in a real environment are presented and provide us with feedback to improve the solution.

We consider a synchronous industrial network, where data transmission delays can be computed and known in advance. We consider a particular class of PLC control applications, namely applications that support periodic input acquisition. It is shown how control specified with the Grafcet language can be achieved in a distributed PLC control system, when data delivery delays are not negligible, and how the input acquisition period can be by minimized. A technique is introduced to transform the Grafcet diagram of a PLC application into one that can be executed in a distributed environment.

Behaviors are specified with a graphical synchronous model: "SyncCharts". SyncCharts supports hierarchical descriptions, concurrency and preemption. It is fully compatible with the programming environment of the Esterel synchronous language and can generate output formats understandable by synthesis tools. Thanks to the mathematical semantics of the model, the correctness of the design can be formally established. Taking the example of a non-trivial binary encoder/decoder, we show how our approach makes the design easier, without loss of rigour or efficiency.

In addition, AUTOSAR attracted the attention of other non-automotive industries, like railway, agriculture and construction machines, power generation and marine technology. The first versions of the standard successfully achieved the objective of integrating in a common framework various components from different suppliers and ensuring their interfaces interoperability. In actual and future versions of the standard, the objective becomes even more ambitious as it considers behavioral and timing characteristics of these components. Therefore, this paper presents the current status of AUTOSAR Release 4.0 concerning the behavioral modeling and timing characterization of components and opens several research and development directions for future extensions of the standard.

We consider a system (this can be a simple centralized control or an application site on a local area network) as a finite state machine (FSM). The behavior of this FSM is expressed by way of hierarchical reactive synchronous boxes (HRSB). HRSB provides a framework

The work aims at formally checking the design: scenarios/controller consistency, safety properties. For this, a strengthening of UML behavioral models is necessary: SyncCharts are used instead of Statecharts, and Sequence Diagrams are extended with synchronously sound constructs akin to Message Sequence Charts. The formal foundations of the approach and the associated tools are briefly presented.
