It develops the topic of Marxist pedagogy and its educational impact on university students, which has been neglected by the scientific community. The topic is explored through an analysis of the educational activities of the Czechoslovak Youth Union, which at Palacký University in Olomouc in the late 1940s and during the 1950s brought together students and organised their cultural, study, sport and other activities. This was always done under the direct ideological control of the Union and the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. The dissertation has a research character and its design falls into qualitative research. The theoretical part describes the historiography of the history of pedagogy with emphasis on the topic of Marxist pedagogy and explains how it was influenced by the philosophical direction of Marxism-Leninism. It also characterizes the development of the post-war history of higher education. In the practical part, using qualitative content analysis, we establish the basic categories of Marxist education (principles, goals, means, conditions). We apply the given division of education by means of an instrumental case study method on a typical example of a contemporary higher education organization – the Czechoslovak Youth Union (CYU). No comprehensive study has been done on this university organization so far, so we had to extract data about it first using the grounded theory method from archival material from the Palacký University Archives in Olomouc. We present the aim of the thesis in the form of research questions. Basic research question: What was the historical development, position and educational activities of the CYU university group at Palacký University in Olomouc between 1946-1960? What was the historical development of the CYU university group in the context of the history of Palacký University in Olomouc? Through what educational activities did the CYU influence the student body? What position did the CYU occupy within the university? The main contributions of the dissertation include deepening the research on the post war history of higher education, identifying and elaborating the structure of Marxist education and its application in the education of university students during the period of authoritarian political regime. We can also consider the integration of these findings into educational content that educators can didactically reduce into an educational curriculum and, using didactic transformation, transform into a curriculum applicable in primary, secondary or tertiary education.
