Condition monitoring and fault detection on the railways is vital, particularly on detecting faults from the state of origin to provide an accurate root cause analysis, whilst predicting inevitable failures. A concept encompassing wireless sensors and machine learning techniques is developed to detect, diagnose and predict failures resulting from a poor contact wire and pantograph interaction through cloud processing. The literature explores the advantage of employing wireless sensor networks against hard-wiring over the long stretch of the overhead wires. Solar energy is pivotal because it is cleaner, pollution free and abundantly available. The deman... more Solar energy is pivotal because it is cleaner, pollution free and abundantly available. The demand for renewable energy has grown exponential throughout the world and the prices are falling due to affordable semiconductor devices used to manufacture the photovoltaic module. This paper presents the non-inverting buck boost converter embedded with maximum power point tracker to maximise the power output of the photovoltaic array by continuously tracking the maximum power to charge the battery. The modelling of photovoltaic system is implemented using Matlab/Simulink to indicate the effectiveness of maximum power point whereas the non-inverting buck boost is modelled by Symetrix. This topology is designed to operate into two modes, buck mode or boost mode for powering the battery. The non-inverting buck boost converter will maximise the charging time by reducing the number of days to charge the battery bank.
