Towards audio-conditioned generation of music album artwork

Since first used, album artwork importance has changed. In our digital era, audiovisual content is everywhere and of course, regarding music albums, album covers play an important role. Computer Vision has unleashed powerful technologies for image generation,in the last decade, which have been used for lots of different applications. In particular, the main discoveries are Varational Autoencoders (VAEs) and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). Latest researches on these technologies have contributed to understand and improve them, ac-quiring high quality and complex image generation. In this thesis, we experiment with the latest image generation tools to achieve album artwork generation based on audio sam-ples. We first analyse image generation without audio conditioning for VAEs and the three GAN approaches: vanilla GAN, Least Squares GAN (LSGAN) and Wasserter GAN with gradient penalty (WGAN-GP). Introduction & objectives: Laparoscopic procedures for renal tumors are widely used all over the ... more Introduction & objectives: Laparoscopic procedures for renal tumors are widely used all over the world. Laparoscopic radical nephrectomy is recommended as a standard of care for patients with T1-T2 renal cell carcinoma (RCC). material & methods: 81 patients with kidney tumors were treated by laporoscopic approach by a single surgeon in our department, between 2007-2010. results: 48 laparoscopic nephrectomies, 22 nephroadrenalectomies, 9 partial nephrectomies and 2 nephroureterectomies were performed. All procedures were performed using transabdominal approach. Mean operating time was 230 min. (range 110 min.-320 min.) Hemi-lock clips were used to control the renal vessels in most of cases. We used endo-GIA in 11 cases. Surgical was used for hemostasis in partial nephrectomy. The tumor volume ranged from 1,5 cm to 15 cm in diameter. On final histopathological review 72 of the patients had a clear cell carcinoma, 7 of the patients had oncocitoma. 2 patients who underwent nephroureterectomy had transitional cell cancer (TCC). None of the patients have developed local relapse or metastasis at this point. Conclusions: Laparoscopic nephrectomy is safe and feasible technique which should be offered to our patients scheduled for renal surgery. However, careful patient selection, skilled, experienced surgeons and proper equipment is mandatory to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.
