It may assume the form of a commune, or of civil society, or it will be in some intermediate corporate state, depending on what type of economic relations prevail (a natural economy or commodity economy). The variety of concrete historical situations notwithstanding, each of these three cases may be regarded as corresponding to a specific type of "social action," i.e., a meaningful active involvement, correlated with the actions of other persons and oriented toward them.
