Hatice Aynur, Ph.D. (1993) in Ottoman Literature in İstanbul University, was formerly
Professor of Ottoman Literature at İstanbul Şehir Universty. She has published works on
Ottoman literature; Istanbul in Ottoman literary texts; architectural inscriptions of Ottoman
lands; history of printed books and manuscripts culture in the Ottoman world. Recently she
edited Gölgelenen Sultan, Unutulan Yıllar: I. Mahmûd ve Dönemi (1730-1754) [Neglected
Sultan, Forgotten Years: Mahmûd I and his Reign 1730-1754] (2 vols. İstanbul, 2020),
coedited with Tülay Artan Osmanlı Kitap Koleksiyonerleri ve Koleksiyonları: İtibar ve İhtiras
[Prestige and Passion: Ottoman Manuscript Collections and Collectors] (2002) and published
an article on İstanbul entitled “Sketching the City with Words: Istanbul Through Time in
Turkish Literary Texts” (2023).
