Some natural gas distributors for residential and commercial buildings in Brazil use galvanised s... more Some natural gas distributors for residential and commercial buildings in Brazil use galvanised steel tubes and fittings manufactured by the hot-dip zinc process that is supported by the specifications contained in the Brazilian Standards. Zinc coating is one of the most widely used methods to provide protection against corrosion. It is therefore essential that national and international tube manufacturers and installation and maintenance companies in civil construction also meet the defined national and international standards, especially when the tubes and fittings are used for natural gas in residential buildings. Descriptions, characterisations, and comparisons are made by the Copper Sulphate Solution test of the zinc coating (g/m2), and defects can occur in the zinc layer using metallographic analysis. Considering that the Copper Sulphate Solution test not only evaluates the uniformity but also assesses the porosity of the coating on galvanised steel elements, some pipes available in the Brazilian market do not comply with the standards. At least 70% of the test specimens were rejected by the Brazilian standards.

Abstract This work aims to analyze the failure in a pipe of produced water in an oil crude primar... more Abstract This work aims to analyze the failure in a pipe of produced water in an oil crude primary separation system. The produced water commonly has a high concentration of soluble salts and sediments. This fluid, which can be discarded or reused, is usually transported by seamless pipes of low carbon steel. In this case, the pipe employed was built by electric resistance welding (ERW) process. The sediment deposits and the elevated Cl − concentration in the produced water promoted the failure by localized corrosion through the longitudinal weld of the pipe. The chemical composition of the pipe, and its high level of inclusions contributed to the premature failure in operation. Thus, some recommendations were presented to mitigate premature failures in this type of application.

É fundamental que os problemas de ordem socioambiental sejam absorvidos por gestores de empresas, visando futuros profissionais que conduzam as empresas de maneira sustentável. Como metodologia, utilizou-se da pesquisa bibliográfica e da pesquisa documental, em que se tomou como base um levantamento feito na plataforma e-MEC, criando-se um banco de dados a fim de caracterizar os cursos de Administração e a oferta das disciplinas de cunho ambiental. Os resultados mostraram que cerca de 80% dos cursos de Administração ofertam disciplinas de caráter ambiental, sendo a maioria como disciplina eletiva. The objective of this study is to characterise grade R4 steel manufactured by ingot casting that ... more The objective of this study is to characterise grade R4 steel manufactured by ingot casting that is used as the raw material for the production of offshore mooring chains. Rolled bars of grade R4 steel have been selected and metallographic analyses and micro hardness, tensile and Charpy V-notch impact tests performed. Tensile and Charpy V-notch impact tests have also been carried out on mooring links manufactured from the same grade R4 steel. Based on the results presented, the influence of the rolling reduction ratio of the bars and the influence of the ingot casting cooling and reheating process have been observed. Both factors have been found to increase product quality, particularly with respect to the central segregation and homogeneity of the rolled bars.

Uma segunda amostra (amostra II) também de 300 gramas não foi submetida à imersão e não foi modificado nenhum aspecto de sua umidade, essa segunda amostra foi usada para efeito de comparação e análise de resultados. Foi utilizado o Laser HeNe de 632 nm incidindo nas amostras de grãos de feijão, a configuração de aquisição está ilustrada na Figura 1. Foram coletadas imagens através de método direto. Utilizou-se um microscópio digital XTrad, registrando os vídeos no formato AVI diretamente no Raspberry Pi 3 Modelo B+, após a aquisição, foi feita segmentação de frames sucessivos do vídeo com o uso do Raspberry Pi 3 Modelo B+, códigos de programação desenvolvidos em laboratório e algoritmos de processamento adaptados, obtendo assim imagens para o processamento, conforme a Figura 2. Os mesmos procedimentos foram realizados em um PC Desktop comum, usando o software Matlab, para fins de comparação.

The article refers to a survey conducted with teachers of science and biology and the students of... more The article refers to a survey conducted with teachers of science and biology and the students of a school in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), where there is mandatory inclusion of students with visual impairments in the regular classrooms of basic education. Semi-structured interviews and questionnaires were developed to meet as pedagogical support material and the teaching methodologies that integrate the classroom. The results highlighted that the formation of a collaborative network of the students without visual impairments in relation to those with impairments favours the learning and the awareness of the former about the inclusion, facilitating the dynamics in the classroom. From the valuation, it was clear that despite the insecurity on the part of the teachers, the various pedagogic resources adapted from traditional models or created by personal initiative have resulted in an integrated process of inclusion, still in improvement.

The hearing protection of workers is of great concern to occupational health and safety professio... more The hearing protection of workers is of great concern to occupational health and safety professionals because of the irreversible damage caused by prolonged exposure to noise. This work seeks to determine whether the hearing protection equipment used in the construction industry today is adequate, considering that, in addition to the intense noise, other risk factors are present in the typical environment of a construction site. For this, a survey was conducted on how workers in the industry recognise and prevent exposure to noise and how they use hearing protection. Subsequently, laboratory experiments were used to study, how the main contaminants interact with the material of which this equipment is composed. In laboratory tests, both foam and silicone plugs gained weight when exposed to contaminants typically found in construction. This fact evidenced the need for training regarding the hygiene of hearing protectors. Regarding the performance of the foam earplugs in the tests, it was verified that, even though they went through the cleaning process, the equipment also increased in mass. This fact demonstrates that cleaning helps but does not eliminate the contamination of the hearing protection devices (HPD). Finally, it was concluded that the both types of earplugs are efficient in relation to noise attenuation and protection of the hearing of the workers. However, the way they are used and cleaned can influence the contamination of these protectors and the research detected both a lack of information from the manufacturers and little or no training of the workers.

Direct shear (DS) tests with controlled shear rates were performed in two soils from the Baixada ... more Direct shear (DS) tests with controlled shear rates were performed in two soils from the Baixada Fluminense region, in the city of Sao Joao do Meriti – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The first soil characterized as Inorganic Clay of high plasticity (CH) was located in a hillside region. The second soil characterized as medium plasticity clay (CL) was located in a central region of the studied area with a slight slope. The soils in question are deposited on non-compacted soft soil with the addition of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). Both samples of compacted soil were excavated at a depth of 1.0 m, and undisturbed samples were collected. In addition to the previously mentioned tests, oedometric tests and soil physical classification tests were carried out to evaluate geotechnical parameters. This article aims to evaluate the pedagogical management applied in a fundamental school with about 250 students, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, using interviews and questionnaires with teachers. With this research it was possible to conclude that teachers perceive the existence of several conditions that fa vour the creation, dissemination and socialization of knowledge, considering the good professional relations existing between the teachers who work in the classroom and the pedagogical team.
