Employing a descriptive-comparative research design with a census of all 36 permanent faculty and staff, the research utilized a researcher-made survey with a 5-point Likert scale. Data analysis, which included means, standard deviations, and the Mann-Whitney U test, found a significant departure from normality, justifying the use of a non-parametric test. Results revealed an overall neutral perception of systemic equity among the personnel (M=3.31, SD=1.03). The study found no statistically significant difference in perceptions between faculty and staff (U=80, p=0.184), indicating that both groups perceive similar levels of equity or justice. Specific items, such as access to professional development and social trust, were also rated as neutral. The findings suggest a potential lack of awareness or engagement with systemic inequities within the college. The conclusion highlights this neutrality not as a sign of a problem-free environment, but as a critical opportunity for proactive change. The study recommends implementing targeted professional development programs, enhancing transparency, and fostering dialogue to shift the institutional culture from a passive, neutral state to a more actively equitable one.

Traditional assessment methods in higher education (HE), predominantly high-stakes examinations a... more Traditional assessment methods in higher education (HE), predominantly high-stakes examinations and standardized tests, face increasing criticism for potentially failing to capture the breadth and depth of student learning, fostering surface learning, and inadequately preparing graduates for complex professional environments. This has spurred significant interest in Alternative Assessment Methods (AAMs). This systematic literature review synthesizes empirical research from 2013 to 2024 to evaluate the effectiveness of AAMs in HE. Following PRISMA guidelines, 35 peer-reviewed studies were analyzed. Findings indicate that AAMs (e.g., portfolios, peer assessment, authentic tasks, simulations, self-assessment, e-portfolios, concept maps) demonstrate effectiveness in enhancing student engagement, promoting deeper learning, developing critical transferable skills (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, metacognition), and improving feedback literacy. However, significant challenges exist, including increased workload for staff and students, reliability concerns, resistance to change, technological barriers, and the need for careful design and robust marking criteria. The review concludes that AAMs are not inherently superior but offer distinct advantages when aligned with learning outcomes, context, and implemented effectively. Recommendations include strategic institutional support, comprehensive staff development, transparent communication, and further research into specific disciplinary applications, long-term impact, and technology-enhanced AAMs.

Evaluating the core of compensation benefits that drives employee performance at selected hotels ... more Evaluating the core of compensation benefits that drives employee performance at selected hotels in Cebu City had been the primary purpose of this study. The study examined the relationship between financial compensation, indirect financial compensation, and non-financial compensation as components of compensation benefits and employee performance. A survey was conducted through questionnaires as instruments to collect the related data with a total number of 120 employees in the hotel as respondents. Descriptive methods were used in the study to gauge the frequency and percentage distribution of the participants' demographic profile. In addition, the relationship between compensation benefits and employee performance was examined through regression analysis. The respondents indicated that although employees recognized their financial and indirect financial compensation benefits, they had not perceived them as highly motivating or fulfilling enough to significantly enhance their engagement or performance level. The non-financial compensation had stood out as the key and primary factor influencing how employees had perceived their performance. The said analysis had rejected the study's hypothesis, showing a strong correlation between compensation benefits and employee performance. As a recommendation, hotels were encouraged to improve and refine their Compensation benefits; providing non-financial compensation is the highest priority, as revealed by this study. A competitive compensation benefits plan is the cornerstone of employee retention and motivation. Additionally, this study also holds a valuable resource for hotels within Cebu City and individuals pursuing a Master are in Business Administration (MBA), as it offers important perspectives to examine the significance of compensation benefits in improving business performance, especially in the hotel industry.

Cellular senescence is a central hallmark of aging, functioning as a double-edged process that pr... more Cellular senescence is a central hallmark of aging, functioning as a double-edged process that prevents malignant transformation while contributing to tissue dysfunction and chronic inflammation. Recent advances emphasize the critical role of epigenetic modifications—including DNA methylation, histone changes, chromatin remodeling, and regulation by non-coding RNAs—in both initiating and maintaining the senescent state. These mechanisms drive the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), promote inflammatory signaling, and shape the aging phenotype. The development of epigenetic clocks has provided powerful tools to estimate biological age and evaluate therapeutic interventions. Emerging strategies such as epigenetic drugs, partial reprogramming with Yamanaka factors, and the integration of senolytics with epigenetic modulators show promise in restoring youthful cellular function and delaying age-related decline. Future directions highlight the integration of multi-omics data, CRISPR-based epigenome editing, and next-generation clocks to refine biomarkers and therapeutic approaches. Collectively, targeting epigenetic regulation of senescence represents a promising pathway toward healthier aging and longevity.

The present work deals with molecular docking and interaction modeling studies on the binding behavior of Vancomycin with a bacterial receptor protein (PDB ID: 6H5O). The detailed analysis of the 3D binding conformation indicated strong hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions with the key residues Tyr47, Ser195, and Phe41. The docking score was –9.4 kcal/mol, indicating high favorable binding, enriched by the binding energy calculated from MM-GBSA analysis: –56.3 kcal/mol. Complimentary 2D interaction diagrams summarized total five such hydrogen bonding besides several hydrophobic contacts that stabilize the complex. The decomposition of the energies of the residues placed Phe41 and Tyr47 at the frontline in the contribution to the binding interaction with –3.6 kcal/mol and –2.9 kcal/mol, respectively. These results prove in many ways the use of in silico simulations for predicting and visualizing very important molecular recognition patterns. This should be key in making targeted drug delivery systems and smart antibiotic materials. Theoretically, this is a part of the big area of structure-based drug design. It will also help more actively in the future to make different kinds of materials that can act like little sensors of changing microbial environments.
