Despite the success of data-driven analytics in improving practice outcome, there is a gap towards their deployment in guideline-based practice. In this paper we report on findings related to computer-supported guideline refinement, which maps a patient's guideline requirements to personalized recommendations that suit the patient's current context. In particular, we present a novel data-driven personalization framework, casting the mapping task as a statistical decision problem in search of a solution to maximize expected utility. ABSTRACT Web service discovery is the process of locating web services to satisfy the requirement... more ABSTRACT Web service discovery is the process of locating web services to satisfy the requirements of service requesters, and as such, plays an important role to realize business-to-business interoperability. Today, many service discovery mechanisms are available, roughly classified into two categories: text-based service retrieval and ontology-based service matching. However, both kinds of service discovery approaches have their limitations in finding out suitable web services for users. Text-based approaches cannot reflect the semantics of the service capability. Ontology-based approaches are likely infeasible and non-scalable since service providers need to spend considerable efforts to annotate the service descriptions. This study proposes an approach to searching for web services, called LS3 (Lexical and Semantic Service Search) architecture. This proposed approach includes two main sub processes: query expansion and service ranking to enable the retrieval of relevant web services during the discovery process by considering lexical similarity and semantic similarity.

Standardized service technologies drive widespread adoption of clouds and enable computation evolution towards service-oriented paradigm. While diversified cloud services are readily available today, how to discover desired services fitting into user’s context becomes a practical challenge. In this paper, we propose a Contextual Service Discovery (CSD) approach to help find out qualified services in accordance with binding context on the user side. Query descriptions and binding information are analyzed as a set of meaningful terms. We designed a term expansion mechanism to improve matchmaking performance by mitigating issues of wording bias and ambiguity. Besides, binding coverage analysis between multiple services and a given query is conducted to ensure that matched services are compatible with user’s contextual expectation. The experimental results show that the proposed approach is with better performance than other alternatives under Top- precision and recall metrics.

Whether as the primary focus of the business or as a function of the well-being of a firm's employees, health issues play a dominant role in commerce. This recognition and the demonstrated benefits of a healthy contributor or worker have promoted a rejuvenated emphasis on wellness. In order to garner the benefits of cloud computing and foster improved employee health, the Taiwan Collaboratory is developing a first instance of a Wellness Cloud, which is an integrated, interconnected and intelligent well-being platform. As the data held in this cloud is potentially very sensitive, the protection of this data is of utmost importance. In this chapter, we present issues and solutions for protecting user data while enabling the data to be usefully processed and for value to be derived, by using advanced technology and by harnessing the cumulative knowledge or wisdom of the collective of users.

Quality-of-service (QoS) in Web services encompasses various non-functional issues such as perfor... more Quality-of-service (QoS) in Web services encompasses various non-functional issues such as performance, dependability and security, etc. As more and more Web services become available, QoS capability is becoming a decisive factor to distinguishing services. This study proposes an efficient service selection scheme to help service requesters select services by considering two different contexts: single QoS-based service discovery and QoS-based optimization of service composition. Based on QoS measurement metrics, this study proposes multiple criteria decision making and integer programming approaches to select the optimal service. Experimental results show that the scheme is not only efficient, but also works well for complicated scenarios.
