Our fundamental question is: "Why is there something rather than nothing?" In other words: Can an... more Our fundamental question is: "Why is there something rather than nothing?" In other words: Can anything exist if every existing thing was caused by something else? So, how was the first thing made? Everything we observe has a cause. For example, my existence is the result of my parents' existence, their existence is the result of their parents, and so on. Can this chain go on forever? When reflecting on Stephen Hawking's proposition, we must ask: "Why is there something, if nothing is required for matter to exist?" So the question becomes: Why does the Universe exist? Logically, there are only three possible answers: 1. The Universe is eternal-implying an infinite chain of causes and effects (an infinite chain of parents and grandparents). 2. The Universe created itself out of nothing (as Stephen Hawking suggests). This is a logical contradiction-in philosophical shorthand: 0 = 1. 3. The Universe was created by an Uncreated, Eternal Being. Let's examine each of these possibilities.

We would like not only to know how the universe continues to develop and what makes up its ultimate large scale structure.
