Abstract

The low level of student understanding and participation in Biology subjects encourages the need for innovation in learning strategies, one innovation that can be applied is the concept map learning method. This research aims to improve students' learning outcomes and critical thinking in Biology subjects using the Concept Map method. The problems faced are students' low understanding of Biology Subjects and low student participation in discussions. The solution offered is to use the Concept Map Learning Method to make it easier for students to understand learning and hone students' critical thinking. The research method used was Quasi Experimental, the sample in this research was all students in class XII Science at State High Schools in Banjarmasin, the population was taken using the Random Sampling technique. The research consisted of three stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the data processing stage. The data collection technique was carried out by providing questions describing tests on learning outcomes and critical thinking skills at the beginning of learning (pretest) and at the end of learning (post-test). The tests given to the experimental and control classes obtained different results, the average posttest score was 73.8 for the experimental class and 65.9 for the control class. The average critical thinking ability of experimental class students who use the Concept Map Learning Method in biology learning is higher than that of the control class who use conventional methods. The conclusion of this research is that the Concept Map Method has an effect on improving students' learning outcomes and critical thinking.Rendahnya pemahaman dan partisipasi siswa dalam mata pelajaran Biologi, mendorong perlunya inovasi dalam strategi pembelajaran, salah satu inovasi yang dapat diterapkan yaitu metode pembelajaran peta konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan berpikir kritis Peserta Didik dalam dalam mata Pelajaran Biologi dengan metode Peta Konsep. Masalah yang dihadapi yaitu rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap Mata Pelajaran Biologi serta rendahnya partisipasi Peserta didik dalam diskusi. Solusi yang ditawarkan yaitu dengan menggunakan Metode Pembelajaran Peta Konsep untuk mempermudah siswa dalam memahami pembelajaran dan mengasah cara berpikir kritis siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Kuasi Eksperimen, sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas XII IPA pada SMA Negeri di Banjarmasin, pengambilan populasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik Random Sampling. Penelitian terdiri atas tiga tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan dan tahap pengolahan data, teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan soal uraian tes hasil belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis pada awal pembelajaran (pretest) dan akhir pembelajaran (post-test). Tes yang diberikan pada kelas eksperimen dan kontrol di peroleh hasil yang berbeda, untuk kelas eksperimen nilai rata-rata sebesar 73,8 dan untuk kelas kontrol sebesar 65,9. Rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan Metode Pembelajaran Peta Konsep dalam pembelajaran biologi lebih tinggi dari pada kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode konvensional. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah Metode Peta Konsep berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar dan berpikir kritis Peserta Didik.

Abstract

The Bukit Manjai Valley Tropical Rainforest Park is home to an abundance of plants that includes a host of Ficus species. The objective of this study was to inventory and descriptively account for the Ficus present in the park. The purposive sampling method was used, where any time we found a Ficus plant, the data collection occurred. Upon finding a Ficus plant, we documented it with photographic evidence and provide scientific identification along with measurements for environmental parameters including air temperature, air humidity (RH), light intensity, soil pH, altitude elevation, soil moisture, and wind speed. The study identified five species of Ficus, specifically, Ficus fistulosa Reinw. Ex Blume, Ficus montana Burm.f., Ficus rosulata C.C.Berg, Ficus uncinata (King) Becc and, Ficus variegata Blume. The study results suggest that the environmental conditions in Bukit Manjai Valley Tropical Rainforest Park, are very conducive for the growth and survival of a variety of Ficus species. This inventory study provides important information to aid the understanding of biodiversity, especially of the Ficus genus, in the tropical rainforest ecosystem of Borneo.
