The rapid development of digital technology has changed conventional systems into modern systems, resulting in new products, systems, and platforms that can be more useful for everyone. Likewise, in the field of education, the development of E-Learning can improve the quality of learning or learning media to be more innovative and interactive. One of the most recently established and popular E-learning media is Ruangguru. Ruangguru as a digital platform in industry 4.0 can motivate students to learn English and get a positive response from students. This research examines students' motivation toward Ruangguru as a digital platform for learning English. This research was conducted using survey research, covering both quantitative and qualitative data. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. The findings of this study indicate that Ruangguru can motivate students in learning English.

Progam Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Kelas Parepare adalah satu dari tiga program studi yang ada di Jurusan Bahasa Inggris UNM. Sebagai salah seorang dosen pengampu mata kuliah Writing bagi mahasiswa Bahasa Inggris Universitas Negeri Makassar selama beberapa tahun terakhir, saya melihat bahwa salah satu kemampuan yang harus dimiliki oleh mahasiswa agar dapat menulis artikel ilmiah dengan baik adalah kemampuan menulis bibliografi yang benar dan akurat. Beberapa tehnik penulisan bibliografi sebenarnya telah diajarkan kepada mereka secara manual di perkuliahan mata kuliah Writing. Akan tetapi karena menggunakan panduan secara manual, kebanyakan dari mereka mengalami kesulitan dan tidak bisa konsisten dalam penulisannya sehingga memerlukan pelatihan dengan menggunakan software untuk dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis bibliografi secara benar dan akurat. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan dan melatih mahasiswa untuk membuat perpustakaan online dan menerapkan dalam menulis referensi dan bibliografi dalam tulisan ilmiah menggunakan software EndNote yang sudah telah diakui secara internasional dan telah digunakan di negara-negara maju. Metode yang digunakan adalah diskusi dan simulasi. Kegiatan ini telah dilaksanakan selama 4 minggu pada bulan September dan Oktoiber 2020. Setelah dan selama kegiatan berlangsung telah diadakan penilaian. Penilaian keberhasilan mereka tersebut diukur melalui observation sheet dan angket. Hasil observasi menunjukkan setelah peserta mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan, hampir semua peserta menunjukkan kemampuan menggunakan EndNote Program. Kegiatan serupa masih perlu diadakan bagi mahasiswa yang lain mengingat motivasi dan minat peserta terhadap pelatihan in sangat besar.

This study aimed to find out the perceptions of teachers and students about hybrid learning in the teaching of English. The researchers used a qualitative method. The samples for this research are 10 students and all of the English teachers. This study uses triangulation which is interview, observation and documentation. The result of this study are, 1) The teacher has a positive perception about hybrid learning that is make them could minimize the weaknesses of online learning; 2) And the students also have a positive perception about hybrid learning that make them easier to understand the material that the teacher gave to them in online learning; and 3) They did hybrid learning without ignoring the health protocol, so that the teachers setting hybrid learning corresponding health protocol. In the side of beneficial, all teachers feel that hybrid learning is the one of solution that the teacher used to minimize the weaknesses of online learning. Some students also still like online learning.

The aims of this research are to find out the students’ most frequent problems in listening English story via YouTube and the students’ ways to solve their problems. This research applied mixed method, which used both quantitative and qualitative approach. To achieve the purpose of the study the data in this research were collected through online questionnaire and online interview. The respondents of this study were 30 students of English Education 2018, State University of Makassar who participated in online questionnaire and there are 15 students who participated in online interview. The result of data analysis found that (1) there are five most frequent problems students faced when listening English story: lack of vocabulary with 3.93 mean value and percentage of 83.3%, noisy atmosphere with 3.82 mean value and percentage of 65%, lack of knowledge about the topic with 3.80 mean value and percentage of 58%, speaker speaks a bit fast with 3.65 mean value and percentage of 67%, lack of grammar with 3.63 mean value and percentage of 68.3%, (2) there are two ways in solve their problems in each factor. Those are taking a note and practice listening through audio and video, looking for a comfortable place and try to focus and concentrate, looking for the information of the topic and try to understand the topic, repeat the audio or video and use the subtitle feature, learning a lot and reading a book.

This research examines the Optimizing Academic Advisor Roles Via E- mentoring at English Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar. The researchers applied descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research was the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th semester students from English Education class Pare-Pare. The subjects consist of 10 students which were taken by using purposive random sampling technique. The data obtained through interview which were analysed qualitatively in several stages, namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion and verification to find accuracy data. The result of data analysis showed that based on the interview which had been taken via WhatsApp, it can be said that this study demonstrates that e- mentoring has promise as a vehicle for preparing study plans, giving consideration in choosing courses programmed, guiding in approving the study plan, solving personal, social, and career problems via E-mentoring during Covid-19 pandemic such as WhatsApp.

The study was intended to investigate whether or not Online Games can help students capturing vocabularies during the game by school age youth. The research applied quantitative case study design. The researchers using questionnaire and vocabulary test (online game reference), the questionnaire act as a factor to determine the factor of students’ vocabularies captured and to help strengthen the test result. The population of this research was the students who play and form groups to play online games and participate in the local gaming tournaments, with the age ranging from 14-17 years old. The sample of this research was students who played the online games (PUBGM, FF, ML/MOBA) more than 2 months which were chosen by using purposive random sampling and the researchers set criteria for the sample. The result of the study showed that the test mean score is 89,21 (Good/High), questionnaire agreement level from items 1-10 (High-Very High), and subjects item select category mean score is 74% (High) are align. With the questionnaire serves as a tool to determine the factors in online game that influence the students captured vocabularies, the researchers find out that it is due to the intensity of playing, game features, player base influence, and the player habits in online game.

This research aimed to diagnose whether effective or not the students’ mastery of vocabulary via storytelling. The pre-experimental design was the method used by the researchers with one group pre-test and post-test. The population was the second-grade students at SMAN 4 Soppeng in the academic year 2021/2022. This research used a cluster random sampling technique. In this case, the researchers chose XI MIA 1 as the representation of the population which consists of 24 students. The instrument of this research was a vocabulary test administered as a pre-test and post-test. The result of this research proved that there were a significant difference between students‟ scores before treatment and students‟ scores after treatment. It can be seen from the mean score, the mean score of students‟ pre-test was (76.10), which was lower than the mean score of the post-tests (85.13). The significant value of this research (0.001) was smaller than the significant level (0.05). In addition, by doing storytelling the students use some words repeatedly. With repetition, the students can remember the words and also the types of the words. So, it can be concluded that legend storytelling improves students’ vocabulary mastery and is effective in teaching vocabulary at SMAN 4 Soppeng.

This study aims to determine how the use of smartphones for learning, especially English by students majoring in English Education at Makassar State University. This study involved 122 students as participants using a purposive random sampling method where the sample had to meet two criteria, namely, having a smartphone and students from the Department of English Education. The questionnaire is a research instrument used in this study. Then the data that has been collected is analyzed deductively and then described descriptively. The results of the study are divided into 4 categories, namely the contribution of smartphones in learning, the use of smartphones for learning purposes, smartphone features, and smartphones for English language skills. In each category, it shows that most of the respondents support the use of smartphones in learning, especially in improving their English skills.

This study aims to find out the difficulties were experienced by the students in writing narrative text. This study used descriptive qualitative method. To achieve the research objectives, researchers used written test and interview as the instruments in collecting the data. The subjects of this study were students of XI IPS 1 in SMAN 5 Bone, there were 26 students as the participants and there were six students as the respondent of the interview. This study used random sampling technique to determine the subject of research. Based on the results of the study, the researchers found that difficulties were experienced by the Eleventh-grade students of SMAN 5 Bone are classified into psychological difficulties, linguistic difficulties, and cognitive difficulties. Psychological difficulties were experienced by the students are low confidence, low motivation, and writing anxiety. They also experienced difficulties in four writing aspects, there are; vocabulary and language use which are classified into linguistic difficulties, content and mechanic which are classified into cognitive difficulties. Then, the most difficulties that happened to the students when writing narrative text are vocabulary and language use aspect. The students still had limited vocabulary. They also are less knowledge about English grammatical. In accordance to those difficulties, students also have internal problems; writing anxiety, low confidence and motivation.

The study aimed to find out the correlation between teachers’ classroom management and students’ English academic achievement. This research employed quantitative research method. The subject of this research were the three classes of 3rd grade students of natural science at SMAN 2 Soppeng that consisted of 36 students which were taken by using cluster random sampling. The instruments used to collect data were a questionnaire and a test. According to the research findings in the questionnaire results, the four levels of classroom management were perceived by the students in varying numbers. There are 10 students (27.7%) who scored in the very high cluster, 14 students (39%) whose scored in the high cluster, 8 students (22.2%) who scored in the average cluster, and 4 students who scored in the low cluster (11.1%). In other word, teacher’s classroom management at SMAN 2 Soppeng was adequate. For their academic achievement, 28 students (78%) were in the very good cluster, while 1 student (2.7%) was in the good cluster, 2 students (5.5%) were in enough cluster, and 5 students (13.8%) were in poor cluster. From the data, it can be inferred that the score of Pearson Product Moment Correlation was found that there was a significant correlation between classroom management and students’ academic achievement in English subject at SMAN 2 Soppeng (r-.610). This means that classroom management have relationship toward students’ academic achievement.
