Abstract

Now, the whole world is facing the coronavirus pandemic. In the meantime, students in China are required to do social distancing and not go to school. This coronavirus pandemic resulted in the use of online learning to teach students. In this research, we will get to know the students’ learning attitude towards online learning during the coronavirus pandemic. The sample population for this research are students in West Java, Indonesia. The data will be collected by using questionnaires and there was a total of 16 questionnaires that is collected for this research. The result of this research shows that online learning during this coronavirus pandemic is not very effective. Also, the students’ learning interest towards online learning is also very low. Based on the interview done on students and teachers, most of them stated that there are various factors that can affect online learning in China such as learning environment, internet and etc. The suggestion that is given in this research is that aside from online classes, teachers can also use video learning media that are used by developed countries so that it can solve the bad internet problem. The result of this research hopefully, can become a reference to improving a more effective learning media that can be used during the coronavirus pandemic in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Covid-19 outbreak has an impact on the provision of education. One of them is the process of online assessment or examination. Difficulties occur during online exams; weak supervision can increase cheating behavior among students. Generally, teachers or lecturers think about how to prevent this behavior. However, what if they are allowed to "cheat" on the exam? What do they think? This paper discusses students' perceptions when they were allowed to access various sources during online math exams. What benefits do they get?. The survey was conducted on 78 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program of UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The data obtained through a questionnaire were analyzed descriptively. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the students gave a positive response. The results of this study are expected to be a positive view of the weakness of supervision during online math exams, an idea/way to prevent cheating. In its application, both online learning and assessment, it is necessary to strengthen the character and self-concept of students.

Abstract

A new coronavirus has been found to cause the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. This is a new virus and a disease. It has not been discovered before the outbreak in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic stopped teaching activities for a while. Students conduct learning activities independently in their homes. The purpose of this study was to compare the self-regulated learning of male and female students in the 19 Indonesian epidemic. This research uses quantitative and survey methods, and the research object is primary school students in Indonesia. The self-regulated learning questionnaire has been shared online. The results of this study show that powerful dynamic mathematics software has an impact on the learning autonomy of the covid-19 pandemic. In the co-population 19 pandemic, self-regulating female students are better than male students in learning.

Abstract

Many factors cause mathematics problems in elementary school students. Starting from learning, learning approaches, to questions related to mathematics. This research aims to analyze and describe students' attitudes towards mathematics, accelerated learning cycles, and mathematics questions. This research was conducted on fifth grade at one of the state elementary schools in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. Data collection in this study used a Likert scale model by analyzing student responses through questionnaires on subject scores and neutral scores on teacher and student activity observation sheet data. Based on the results of research conducted on students, it shows that elementary school students show a positive attitude towards mathematics, learning using the Accelerated Learning Cycle (ALC) approach and mathematics questions. As for the findings obtained from the field, researchers suggest that teachers can use the ALC approach in the mathematics learning process, and get used to giving mathematical problems related to everyday life which can improve students' thinking abilities. The implication of this research is that the habituation of students’ positive attitudes towards mathematics, the ALC approach and mathematics questions can improve students' learning achievement in mathematics at school.

Abstract

As an international benchmark, the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022 evaluates the educational performance of 15-year-old students across various countries. It has been observed that the average mathematics score globally declined in 2022. Understanding the responses of mathematics teachers, as practitioners, to the PISA 2022 results is crucial for evaluating the reasons behind this decline in mathematics scores. This research aims to explore and understand the perspectives of Indonesian mathematics teachers on the factors contributing to the low PISA 2022 mathematics scores. This study employs a qualitative approach, with participants being randomly selected and includes interviews with 36 mathematics teachers in Indonesia. According to the statements provided by teachers, the decline in mathematics scores in the 2022 PISA, relative to the years 2018 and 2015, can be attributed to six primary factors: pandemic-related issues, curriculum, individual factors, resource limitations, student factors, and parental involvement. Subsequently, mathematics teachers provided several recommendations for the government, schools, and parents that might enhance student mathematics achievement. These recommendations include conducting more training, improving ICT facilities in schools, and strengthening parental knowledge about the importance of parental support. The findings of this study offer various recommendations that could be implemented by the government, schools, and mathematics teachers to improve student mathematical achievement and potentially increase PISA scores in 2025.

Abstract

Education is the application of philosophy and cannot be separated from one another. Education and philosophy are crucial in human life, including in Islamic education. Islamic education refers to the educational system and practices based on Islamic principles and values. The perspectives of Islamic education are motivated by various thoughts of Islamic figures and scientists sourced from the Qur'an. This study aims to explore the foundations of Islamic education according to Ibn Sina and Ibn Khaldun's perspectives and to show whether or not the perspectives can complete each other and are still relevant to education nowadays. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach. The data were presented as descriptive data based on the analysis of Ibn Sina and Ibn Khaldun from various sources, including documents and texts. The results show that Ibn Sina and Ibn Khaldun's perspectives have a specific pattern that complements each other and can be expanded in the modern era.

Abstract

The rational thinking abilities of students require development through effective learning strategies. This study investigates the effectiveness of a STEM-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing students' rational thinking abilities, with consideration for gender differences. This research uses a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental design. Data analysis involved the application of Two-Way ANOVA and Scheffe tests utilizing SPSS software. Participants consisted of Class VII students from MTs Ma'arif Balong Ponorogo. The findings indicate the following: (1) the initial rational thinking abilities of the experimental and control groups were comparable; (2) the STEM-based PBL model demonstrated superior effectiveness in improving students' rational thinking skills when compared to conventional learning methods; (3) no significant disparity in rational thinking abilities were observed between male and female students; (4) an interaction effect between the learning model and gender was detected, influencing students' rational thinking abilities. Specifically, female students displayed superior rational thinking abilities when exposed to the STEM-based PBL model. Conversely, no gender-based discrepancy in rational thinking abilities was observed among students utilizing the conventional model. These findings underscore the potential of the STEM-based PBL model as an alternative approach to foster students' rational thinking abilities.
