The book, that has been published by Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in 2012 and is essentially a revised and expanded translation of a study written in Polish titled Geografia wojen rzymsko-irańskich. Działania Rzymu i Iranu w okresie sasa-nidzkim, has been published in English and prepared primarily for students who take interest in the history of the Near East. The study discusses the names of the regions and sites where wars, conflicts, sieges and conquests took place between the Roman and Sasanian empires, and the border changes brought about by the treaties made between the sides throughout a time frame from the first quarter of the 3rd century A.D. to the early Islamic conquests in the first quarter of the 7th century A.D. In the first chapter of the study which is comprised of two main chapters, a short introduction is made and after that, a rundown on the modern literature that has been inspirational for the making of the study, is given, the structure of the study, the method used and the constraints of the subject have been formed in a reasonable manner. In the same chapter, the situation of the Roman-Persian borders in the 2nd century A.D. is described and the fragile relations , diplomatic and military conflicts between the two long-standing enemies are roughly discussed.

2014 yılı itibariyle, “Kremna ve Çevresi Yüzey Araştırması” ikinci sezon çalışmaları 18 Ağustos-07 Eylül tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmaların ağırlık noktasını, Kremna’nın kuzey hâkimiyet alanına giren yerleşimler ve askeri nitelikli yapılar oluşturmuştur.

Cumhuriyet ve İmparatorluk dönemleri boyunca Roma ordusu ve savaş gücünün en önemli unsurunu güçlü yük ve binek hayvanları oluşturmuştur. Bunlar arasında birinci önceliği, şüphesiz süvari atları almıştır. Bununla birlikte, ulaşım ve nakliye amacıyla kullanılan ve savaş gereçlerini, erzak, çadır ve ordunun diğer yüklerini taşıyan önemli sayıda ve farklı türde hayvanın kullanıldığı bilinmektedir. Roma İmparatorluğu, farklı coğrafyalarda görev yapan sınır birliklerinin ihtiyaç duyduğu yük ve binek hayvanları için farklı temin yöntemleri geliştirmiştir. Özellikle barış dönemlerinde, düzenli hayvan tedarikini sağlamak için ciddi ve düzenli bir organizasyonun planlandığı görülmektedir. Söz konusu organizasyonun en önemli amacı, orduda ihtiyaç duyulan sağlıklı ve yeterli güce sahip hayvanları özenle seçmek ve ardından savaşa hazır hâle getirecek eğitimlerden geçirmekti. Ancak, savaş ve isyanların yaşandığı olağanüstü zamanlarda bu kuralların daha esnek olduğunu vurgulamak gerekir. Bu nedenle ordunun acil ihtiyaçları ve nitelikli hayvan rezervinin azaldığı durumlarda Roma, farklı temin yöntemlerine de başvurmuştur. Söz konusu yöntemler arasında en yaygın olanlar; satın alma veya zorla el koyma, karşılıklı anlaşma veya ganimet yoluyla temin, ayrıca müttefiklerden gelen yardımlar şeklinde sıralanabilir. Burada sıralanan temin yöntemleri özellikle epigrafik belgeler yoluyla ispatlanabilmektedir. Bu çalışma, Roma'nın doğuda yaptığı askerî operasyonlar sırasında, sınır birliklerinin ihtiyaç duyduğu yük ve binek hayvanlarının hangi yöntemlerle tedarik edildiğine ilişkin ayrıntıları; antik kaynaklar, epigrafik materyaller ve modern literatür ışığında ortaya koymaktadır.

The origins of the Maccabean revolt, one of the largest revolts in history, are complex but are based on causes far beyond religious or cultural intolerance. The actions of the Seleucid King Antiochus IV. Epiphanes in Jerusalem and the cruel policies he pursued against the Jews have revealed a conviction that he has a unique hatred for the Jews, their traditions and religions. As a result of the edict and decisions taken by Antiochus IV against the Jews. In 167 BC, he led the Jewish community to revolt. The decisions of Antiochus, which attacked the Jewish faith, led to further intensification of events and as a result, a violent revolt against the Seleucid Army. This revolt turned into a national revolution over time and paved the way for the end of the Seleucid existence in Jerusalem. At the end of the Maccabean revolt, the Jewish community gained its freedom and established its kingdom. In this study, the policy of the Seleucid King Antiochus VI towards the Jews and the result of the Maccabean revolt that broke out in Judea will be discussed.

The Seleucid King Antiochus IV Epiphanes ascended to the throne after the killing of his brother, Seleucus IV, by his minister. The first move Antiochus made after assuming power was to organize a military operation to seize the Ptolemaic Kingdom (168 BC). As a result of the campaign, also known as the "Sixth Syrian War", Antiochus IV besieged Egypt, but was forced to retreat desperately under the pressure of the Roman Senate. After being humiliated by Rome in Egypt, Antiochus wanted to prove to the Roman and the Hellenistic world that he was still in a good position militarily, politically and economically. In this regard, he held one of the most important and magnificent festivals of the period in Daphne in 167 BC, near Antiocheia, the capital of the Seleucid Kingdom. The ancient historian Polybius provided detailed information about the magnificence of the Daphne Festival and the military units participating in the parade. This festival featured displays of military power that had a significant impact on Hellenistic public opinion. More importantly, by holding the Daphne festival, King Antiochus IV aimed to strengthen the diplomatic activities of the kingdom in its critical period .
