Centroid-based classification is a machine learning approach used in the text classification domain. The main advantage of centroid-based classifiers is their high performance during both the training stage and the classification stage. However, the success rate can be lower than the other classifiers if good centroid values are not used. In this paper, we apply the centroid-based classification method to the language identification problem, which can be considered as a sub-problem of text classification. We propose a novel method named as inverse class frequency to increase the quality of the centroid values, which involves an update of the classical values. We also use a feature set formed of individual characters rather than words or n-gram sequences to decrease the training and classification times. The experiments were performed on the ECI/MCI corpus and the method was compared with other methods and previous studies. The results showed that the proposed approach yields high success rates and works very efficiently for language identification.

In this study, a dictionary-based method is used to extract expressive concepts from documents. So far, there have been many studies concerning concept mining in English, but this area of study for Turkish, an agglutinative language, is still immature. We used dictionary instead of WordNet, a lexical database grouping words into synsets that is widely used for concept extraction. The dictionaries are rarely used in the domain of concept mining, but taking into account that dictionary entries have synonyms, hypernyms, hyponyms and other relationships in their meaning texts, the success rate has been high for determining concepts. This concept extraction method is implemented on documents, that are collected from different corpora.

Language identification (LI) is a phase of natural language processing. Although LI is formerly studied, there is still much work to do for better performance. The purpose of this study is to present low dimensional feature set which is built from letters and diacritics and suitable classification algorithm (C-SVC, MLP or LDA) with it for high performance. In addition, a weight factor has been integrated to language identification system for increasing the performance. Experiments have been done on ECI corpus. Weight factor has increased the classification accuracies. The most accurate and the fastest method is C-SVC for our feature set.

In recent years, an unexpected amount of growth has been observed in the volume of text documents on the internet, intranet, digital libraries and news groups. It is an important issue to obtain useful information and meaningful patterns from these documents. Identification of Languages of these text documents is an important problem which is studied by many researchers. In these researches generally words (terms) have been used for language identification. Researchers have studied on different approaches like linguistic and statistical based. In this work, Letter Based Text Scoring Method has been proposed for language identification. This method is based on letter distributions of texts. Text scoring has been performed to identify the language of each text document. Text scores are calculated by using letter distributions of new text document. Besides its acceptable accuracy proposed method is easier and faster than short terms and n-gram methods.

Meme kanseri kadınlarda en sık görülen kanser türüdür. Artan meme kanseri vakaları nedeniyle meme kanserinde erken teşhis eskisinden daha önemli hale gelmiştir. Erken teşhis için yaşa bağlı birçok yöntem bulunmakla birlikte en sık kullanılan yöntem mamografidir. Bununla birlikte mamografi görüntülerini yorumlamada radyologların yaşadığı görüş ayrılıkları erken teşhis konusunda daha güvenilir sonuçlar veren bilgisayar destekli karar verme mekanizmalarını bir seçenek haline getirmiştir. Bu kapsamda; destek vektör makineleri, yapay sinir ağları ve karar ağaçları gibi makine öğrenmesi yöntemleri bilgisayar destekli karar vermede bugüne kadar kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada diğerlerinden farklı olarak centroid tabanlı sınıflayıcılar erken teşhis için ele alınmıştır. Bu tercihin en önemli nedeni centroid sınıflayıcıların karmaşıklığı düşük fakat performansı yüksek sınıflayıcılar olmasıdır. Centroid sınıflayıcılar meme kanseriyle ilgili; Wisconsin, Diagnostic ve Prognostic veri setleri üzerinde test edilmiştir. Centroid sınıflayıcılar ve diğer makine öğrenmesi yöntemleri arasında karşılaştırmalar yapılmış ve sonuçlar doğruluk ve zaman açısından raporlanmıştır. En yüksek sınıflandırma doğruluğunu %99,04 değeriyle Euclidian tabanlı centroid sınıflayıcı vermiştir. Centroid sınıflayıcılar hız açısından da diğer sınıflayıcılara üstünlük sağlamıştır.

The rising opportunities of communication provided us with many documents in many different languages. Language identification has a key role for these documents to be understandable and to study natural language identification procedures. The increasing number of the documents and international communication requirements make new works on language identification obligatory. Until today, there have been a great number of studies on solving language identification problem about document based language identification. In these studies, characters, words and n-gram sequences have been used with machine learning techniques. In this study, sequence of n-gram frequencies will be used and using of the five different classification algorithms' accuracy performances will be analyzed via different sizes of documents belonging to 15 different languages. N-gram based feature method will be used to extract feature vector belonging to languages. The most appropriate method for the problem of language identification will be identified by comparing the performances of the Support Vector Machines, Multilayer Perceptron, Centroid Classifier, k-Means and Fuzzy C Means methods. During the experiments, trainining and testing data will be selected from ECI multilingual corpus.

Özet-Gelişen bilgisayar sistemleri üretilen veri miktarını artırırken değerli veriye erişimi daha zorlu hale getirmiştir. Örneğin, veri erişimde klasik katalog taramanın modası geçmek üzeredir. Mevcut durumun doğası gereği hem veri kaynakları bir araya getirilmeli hem de bu veriler üzerinde performansı yüksek yöntemlerle bilgiye erişim sağlanmalıdır. Veri kaynaklarını bir araya getirme için çözüm önerimiz bilgi erişim merkezlerinin ortak bir çatı altında toplanmasıdır. Yüksek performanslı tarama için önerdiğimiz yöntem ise bibliyografik verilerin özetlenmesi ve dağıtık yapıda paylaşılmasıdır. Bugüne kadar teknik nedenlerle mümkün olmayan böylesi bir yaklaşım büyük veri yardımıyla mümkün olabilecektir. Çalışmamız; bilgi kaynaklarının özetlendiği ve paylaşıldığı bir mimari önerir. Bu yaklaşıma göre her bir bilgi erişim merkezinin bibliyografik verisi Hadoop mimarisinde dağıtık olarak bir veri düğümü ile bütün bilgi erişim merkezlerinin özet verisini tutan ana merkez ise bir isim düğümü ile eşleştirilecektir. Veri düğümlerinde bibliyografik veri, isim düğümünde ise bilgi erişim merkezi bilgileri ve karakter n-gramlara dayalı özetler yer alacaktır. Sistemden yararlanmak isteyen bir kullanıcı önce isim düğümü üzerinde sorgulamasını yapacak, sorgusu ile en iyi eşleşen veri düğümünü bulacak ve daha sonra veri düğümü üzerinde detay sorgusunu yapabilecektir. Bu çalışma kapsamında kişilerin eskiden beri kullandığı bilgi erişim yöntemleri büyük veri yaklaşımıyla modernize edilmiş olup ortaya bir öneri konmuştur.

Kişisel veriler öncelikli olarak korunması gereken hassas bilgi varlıklarıdır. Bugüne kadar kişisel verilerin korunabilmesi için gizliliği koruyan kurallar, rehberler ve tasarımlar geliştirilmiştir. Özellikle son zamanlarda Gizlilik Etki Değerlendirmesi yöntemleri Avrupa ülkelerinde büyüyen bir ilgiyle geliştirilmektedir. Bununla birlikte gelişen bilgi teknolojileri bu düzenlemeleri yetersiz bırakmaktadır. Bu çalışmada kişisel verilerin korunması amacıyla öznitelik tabanlı yeni bir Gizlilik Etki Değerlendirmesi yöntemi önerilmektedir. Çalışma, kişisel verilerin korunması alanında genel yaklaşım olan verilerin bütününü değerlendirmek yerine öznitelik bazında veri setinin gizlilik etkisini değerlendirmeye dayalıdır. Öznitelik bazında hesaplamalar ile kişisel verilerin daha hassas ve gizli kalması gereken bölümleri belirlenebilecek ve gizlenebilecektir. Gizlilik etki değerlendirme hesaplamaları için veri homojenliği yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Çalışmanın çıktısı gizlilik etkisine göre gruplanmış veri öğeleridir. Önerimize göre daha homojen veri daha hassas veridir ve gizliliği daha önemlidir. Önerilen yöntem iki farklı veri kümesi üzerinde test edilmiş ve elde edilen sonuçlar analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmamızın en önemli bulgusu gizli görünmeyen niteliklerin nitelik birleştirme sonrası gizli olabilmesidir.

Prediction of a heart attack is very important since it is one of the leading causes of sudden death, especially in low-income countries. Although cardiologists use traditional clinical methods such as electrocardiography and blood tests for heart attack prediction, computer aided diagnosis systems that use machine learning methods are also in use for this task. In this study, we used machine learning and feature selection algorithms together. Our aim is to determine the best machine learning method and the best feature selection algorithm to predict heart attacks. For this purpose, many machine learning methods with optimum parameters and several feature selection methods were used and evaluated on the Statlog (Heart) dataset. According to the experimental results, the best machine learning algorithm is the support vector machine algorithm with the linear kernel, while the best feature selection algorithm is the reliefF method. This pair gave the highest accuracy value of 84.81%.

Less than optimal choice of the university department is one of the serious problems Turkish high school students have been suffering. There are a number of potential factors affecting the student's choice of her future profession. Some of these have received attention in the literature, but such studies do not always involve an investigation of the relationship between the factors analyzed and subsequent levels of academic achievement. The present study examines the relationship between the level of academic achievement and the students' abilities, interests and expectations, by using different data mining methods and classifiers, as a preliminary work to develop a system that will guide the student to selecting a career that will be a better match for her in the future. C4.5, SVM, Naive Bayes and MLP algorithms are used for the analysis; 10-fold cross validation and train-test validation are used as models to evaluate the classifiers results. The student feature set is obtained through questionnaires and psychometric tests. The questionnaire and the psychometric test were applied to 210 and 52 students respectively, from the Computer Engineering Department at Cumhuriyet University. The class was labeled either "successful" or "unsuccessful" with reference to the grades received by each student in computer engineering courses. The comparisons of various data mining algorithms, different data set results, and models used are presented and discussed.

The aim of all education systems is to train students who are equipped with knowledge. In that case, that student is able to determine the most suitable profession for him/her success in education and career that are related to this profession will be higher. Studies done up to this day have been focused on finding out the factors affecting the career choice of the student, but they have not suggested any method for determining the most suitable procession. It is not possible to obtain satisfying results from a system that does not lead students to appropriate higher education departments. In this context, a student-department matching system is proposed which aims to increase the success of the education systems in our study. The department of computer engineering was dealt with as a sample department and the proposed study was examined to determine whether a student was suitable for computer engineering or. The required data was obtained with the help of the questionnaire, and then a model of successful and unsuccessful students was created. Data mining algorithms such as C4.5, C-SVC, MLP, and Naïve Bayes are used during the test of the generated model. The best result was obtained by the C-SVC algorithm and the second best result by Naive Bayes. The lowest error rate achieved was 0.2700 and the highest accurate recognition rate was 73.00%.

Bu çalışmada krom kaplamanın örtme gücünü tahmin etmek ve örtme gücüne etki eden öznitelikleri belirlemek için makine öğrenmesi algoritmaları kullanılmıştır. Bu amaçla GP (Gaussian Process), KNN (K-Nearest Neighbors), RF (Random Forest), SVR (Support Vector Regressor) ve XGB (eXtreme Gradient Boosting) algoritmaları seçilmiş ve bu algoritmaların hiper parametreleri optimize edilmiştir. En yüksek R2 ve en düşük MSE değerlerini veren şartlar belirlenmiştir. Çapraz doğrulama için LOO (Leave-One-Out) metodu kullanılmıştır. En iyi sonuç, SVR metodu ile elde edilmiştir. R2, MSE ve MAPE değeri sırasıyla 0,80, 0,26 ve 18.29 dur. Kaplamanın örtme gücüne etki eden en önemli iki öznitelik borik asit (H3BO3) ve A kimyasalıdır. Bu kimyasalların yüksek seviyeleri kaplamanın örtme gücünü artırmıştır. Tüm algoritmaların hiper parametreleri ızgara tarama yöntemi ile 2 veya daha fazla seviyede optimize edilmiştir. SVR metodunda en etkin iki hiper parametre kernel ve C parametresidir. Kernel ve C hiper parametreleri sırasıyla "rbf" ve 1 olduğu durumda en yüksek R2 değeri elde edilmiştir. Bu çalışma makine öğrenmesi algoritmalarını elektrokaplama sahasına uygulayan ilk çalışmalardandır. Bu yönüyle öncü olma niteliği taşımaktadır.

The automatic and accurate classification of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) radiology report is essential for the analysis and interpretation epilepsy and non-epilepsy. Since the majority of MRI radiology reports are unstructured, the manual information extraction is time-consuming and requires specific expertise. In this paper, a comprehensive method is proposed to classify epilepsy and non-epilepsy real brain MRI radiology text reports automatically. This method combines the Natural Language Processing technique and statistical Machine Learning methods. 122 real MRI radiology text reports (97 epilepsy, 25 non-epilepsy) are studied by our proposed method which consists of the following steps: (i) for a given text report our systems first cleans HTML/XML tags, tokenize, erase punctuation, normalize text, (ii) then it converts into MRI text reports numeric sequences by using indexbased word encoding, (iii) then we applied the deep learning models that are uni-directional long short-term memory (LSTM) network, bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) network and convolutional neural network (CNN) for the classifying comparison of the data, (iv) finally, we used 70% of used for training, 15% for validation, and 15% for test observations. Unlike previous methods, this study encompasses the following objectives: (a) to extract significant text features from radiologic reports of epilepsy disease; (b) to ensure successful classifying accuracy performance to enhance epilepsy data attributes. Therefore, our study is a comprehensive comparative study with the epilepsy dataset obtained from numeric sequences by using index-based word encoding method applied for the deep learning models. The traditional method is numeric sequences by using index-based word encoding which has been made for the first time in the literature, is successful feature descriptor in the epilepsy data set. The BiLSTM network has shown a promising performance regarding the accuracy rates. We show that the larger sized medical text reports can be analyzed by our proposed method.

Elektronik posta, internet üzerinden gönderilen bir tür dijital mektuptur. Elektronik postalar aracılığı ile belge, resim, video, müzik gibi her türlü dosya gönderilip alınabilmektedir. Düşük maliyeti nedeniyle sıklıkla tercih edilmektedir. Elektronik postalar zaman ve para tasarrufu sağladığı için etkili bir iletişim yoludur. Düşük maliyetinden ve kullanımının kolaylığından dolayı reklam yapmak isteyenler tarafından etkin bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Bunun yanında siber saldırganlar da kurbanlarına bu tür elektronik postalar göndererek onlara zarar verebilmektedirler. Bu durumların önüne geçebilmek için, günümüzde makine öğrenmesi algoritmalarıyla spam elektronik postaları sınıflayan modeller tasarlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı da spam tespiti konusunda literatürde sıklıkla yer alan Word2Vec ve Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency(TF-IDF) yöntemlerinin karşılaştırılmasını Türkçe bir veri seti üzerinde yapmak ve daha önce bahsedilen veri seti üzerinde yapılan çalışmalara göre başarı oranını artırmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, daha önce yapılan çalışmalar incelendiğinde, çalışmaların genellikle İngilizce veri setleri üzerinde yoğunlaştığı görülmektedir. Bu konudaki eksiği gidermek adına, Türkçe veri seti üzerinde yapılan bu çalışmada bahsedilen özellik çıkarma yöntemlerinin karşılaştırılması yapılarak iki farklı model oluşturulmuştur. Bu modellerde farklı sınıflayıcılar da kullanılarak en etkili yöntemin öne çıkarılması hedeflenmiştir.

Veri madenciliği çok büyük hacimli veriden anlamlı, ilginç, ve önemli bilginin otomatik veya yarı-otomatik yöntemlerle çıkarılması ile bir disiplin olup pazarlama, bankacılık, sigortacılık ve tıp sektörü başta olmak üzere bir çok sektörde etkin bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Veri madenciliği uygulamalarından biri olan web kullanım madenciliği sayesinde web üzerindeki faydalı bilginin keşfi ve analizi yapılmaktadır. Kullanıcı erişim örüntülerinin bulunması web içerik madenciliği konusuna girmekte olup veri madenciliği tekniklerinden özellikle bağlantı analizi ile yerine getirilmektedir. Bu çalışmada kütüphane sitesi web günlüklerine dayalı olarak kütüphane kullanıcılarının erişim örüntüleri bulunmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışma yapılırken istatistiksel yöntemler kullanılmıştır.

Bilgisayar ağlarına yapılan saldırılar günden güne artarken ve saldırıların nitelikleri de sürekli olarak değişmektedir. Ağ saldırıları, bilgisayar ağlarına zarar vererek bilgi güvenliğini ortadan kaldırmaktadır. Bu durum kişiler, şirketler, kurumlar ve hatta devletler için büyük bir risk oluşturmaktadır. Ağ trafiğinin analizi ve böylece saldırıların ortaya çıkarılabilmesi için Saldırı Tespit Sistemlerinden yararlanılmaktadır. Saldırı türlerini tanıyacak şekilde oluşturulan bu sistemlerin gelişimleri de artan saldırı tiplerine göre sürekli devam etmektedir. Bu çalışmada makine öğrenmesi teknikleri yardımıyla anormallik tabanlı bir saldırı tespit sistemi oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır. The amount of spam is increasing rapidly while the popularity of emails is increasing. This situation has led to the need to filter spam emails. To date, many knowledge-based, learning-based, and clustering-based methods have been developed for filtering spam emails. In this study, machine-learning-based spam detection was targeted, and C4.5, ID3, RndTree, C-Support Vector Classification (C-SVC), and Naïve Bayes algorithms were used for email spam detection. In addition, feature selection and data transformation methods were used to increase spam detection success. Experiments were performed on the UC Irvine Machine Learning Repository (UCI) spambase dataset, and the results were compared for accuracy, Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis, and classification speed. According to the accuracy comparison, the C-SVC algorithm gave the highest accuracy with 93.13%, followed by the RndTree algorithm. According to the ROC analysis, the RndTree algorithm gave the best Area Under Curve (AUC) value of 0.999, while the C4.5 algorithm gave the second-best result. The most successful methods in terms of classification speed are Naïve Bayes and RndTree algorithms. In the experiments, it was seen that feature selection and data transformation methods increased spam detection success. The binary transformation that increased the classification success the most and the feature selection method was forward selection.

Otizm kişinin çevresiyle uygun ilişkiler kuramadığı gelişimsel bir bozukluktur. Otizmin erken teşhisi kişinin erken yaşta eğitilip çevresiyle olan ilişkisinin düzenlenmesinde hayati önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada, otizm teşhisinin geç konulması sebebiyle otizm teşhisi konulan kişilerin yaşadığı sorunların çözümüne katkı sağlayabilmek için Naive Bayes Makine Öğrenmesi algoritmasıyla hastalığa erken tanı konulması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma analizinin gerçekleştirilebilmesi için veri setinde otizmli insanların bebeklik, ergenlik ve yetişkinlik dönemleri ele alınmıştır. Veriler üzerinde; aykırılıkların ayıklanması, eksik verilerin doldurulması, öznitelik ağırlığına göre öznitelik seçimi yapılması ve parametre optimizasyonu sonrası eğitilen modellerin başarı oranları ile ham veri üzerinden parametre optimizasyonu yapılmadan elde edilen modellerin başarı oranları karşılaştırılmıştır. Yapılan çalışmalar neticesinde parametre optimizasyonu yapılmamış veri setine oranla; yetişkin veri setinde modelin başarısı % 2.27, ergen veri setinde %7.01 ve çocuk veri setinde %3.78 performans artışı gözlemlenmiştir. Bu çalışma, veri ön işleme teknikleri ve parametre optimizasyon işlemleri sonrası başarı oranlarının arttığını göstermektedir.

Risk değerlendirme ve risk yönetimi, bilgi güvenliği yönetim sistemlerinin önemli parçalarıdır. Bu yüzden, literatürde konuyla ilgili çok sayıda risk değerlendirme ve analiz çalışması vardır. Bu çalışmada, Bilgi Güvenliği Yönetim Sistemleri ile ilişkili varlıklar için bir risk değerlendirme modeli önerilmiştir. Önerilen model, riski varlıkların değerlerindeki değişime bağlı olarak hesap etmektedir. Model, soysal bir ağ üzerinde bazı varlıklar için test edilmiştir.

Individuals have their own style of speaking and writing. Style of a text can be used as a distinctive feature to recognize its author. In recent years, practical applications for authorship attribution have grown in areas such as criminal law, civil law and computer security. Recent research has used techniques from machine learning, information retrieval and natural language processing in authorship attribution. In this paper, Statistical Language Modeling is utilized in Authorship Attribution. Each author is represented with feature statistics. Letters, punctuations and special characters which build up the feature set are utilized to calculate the profiles of the authors.
