The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replication at Horticulture Res... more The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replication at Horticulture Research Farm, under DAPS (Horticulture), BBAU Lucknow, during rabi season 2011 to 2012 with the objectives to study the effect of varying levels of NAA, 2, 4-D and GA 3 on growth, quality and yield of tomato and to ascertain the best concentration of NAA, 2, 4-D and GA 3 for vegetative growth and fruit quality of tomato. The experiment consisted one tomato variety viz .kashi vishesh (H-86) and different levels of NAA (15, 30, 45 ppm), 2, 4-D (5, 10, 15 ppm) and GA 3 (20, 30, 40 ppm) of different concentrations were used. The result showed maximum yield per hectare. These results are of my own study and are unique and can be very useful in research from trial to field, so it will be of interest to implement these results to the field to harvest good yield of tomato.

cor re la tion co ef fi cient was ob served by fruit weight, num ber of leaves per plant, num ber of fruits
per plant and num ber of flow ers per plant. An over all ob ser va tion of path co ef fi cient stud ies
re vealed that the di rect con tri bu tion of fruit yield per plant, fruit yield per hect are, fruit weight,
num ber of fruits per plant, and num ber of flow ers per plant was of higher mag ni tude on fruit yield.
High neg a tive di rect ef fect was re corded in to tal sugar fol lowed by re duc ing sugar and fruit
length. Di rect se lec tion may be ex e cuted con sid er ing these traits as the main se lec tion cri te ria to
re duce in di rect ef fects of the other char ac ters during the development of high-yielding eggplant
varieties/hybrids.

Survival and growth performance of stevia cutting under different growing media

This study was carried out to explore the survival and growth performance of stevia cutting under... more This study was carried out to explore the survival and growth performance of stevia cutting under different growing media at CIMAP, Research Centre Purara, Uttarakhand. Results indicate that vermicompost + soil + FYM in ratio 1:1:1 had recorded highest survival of cutting (74.51 %), number of branches (12), plant height (17.14 cm), number of leaves/plant (35), fresh weight/plant (7.74 g), dry weight/plant (1.92 g), number of root/plant (20) and root length (14.34 cm). Finally concluded that growing media significantly influenced the survival rate of cutting, growth and development parameter of stevia sapling in which media vermicompost + soil + FYM was best media since the survival of cutting and development parameters were higher than those on the other media, therefore this result suggested that vermicompost + soil + FYM should be used as a growing media.

The main constituent of the essential oil of the plant is citral (geranial and neral), citronellal and geraniol. Lemon balm has been traditionally used for different medical purposes as tonic, antispasmodic, carmiative, diaphoretic, surgical dressing for wounds, sedative-hypnotic strengthening the memory and headache. Lemon balm is also used as flavouring in ice cream and herbal teas, often in combination with other herbs such as spearmint. It is also frequently paired with fruit dishes or candies. Lemon balm is also known as a hormonal herb due to its antithyroid activity. The present review is an effort to give the detailed survey of literature on its medicinal properties and cultivation practices of the plant under study.

the effect of growing media on seed germination and
seedling growth of pyrethrum (Chrysanthemum
cineraraefolium), with an experiment arranged in
CRD. Results indicate that vermicompost + soil + farm
yard manure in ratio 1:1:1, took minimum days for
germination (8.33) and had highest germination
percentage (64 %). This medium was also found to best
for growth of pyrethrum seedlings as it had the highest
values of plant growth parameters i.e. plant height
(13.90 cm), number of leaves/plant (12.33), fresh
weight (3.57 g), dry weight (0.87 g), number of
root/plant (14.34) and root length (10.46 cm).
Therefore, vermicompost + soil + farm yard manure
(1:1:1) was rated the best media for seed germination
and subsequent seedling growth of pyrethrum.
