This was caused by our Jermboy filters, see Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/Vandalism/Jermboy27. The only solution I see is putting an {{Edit request}} on the talk page. --Achim55 (talk) 07:30, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

It seems that, given your interest in road signs, in order to not be confused with that user, there are many reasons to create an account and log in, or request that an account be created for you. Comments: I updated the map, I've done many many edits to SVG files (most of the edits here are for that) and to Spanish Wikipedia. I wish I could upload the file. The source for the edition is the esWikipedia article on pisco. If you would tell the user who fills out the report for the abuse filter before sending that the message will be placed into the Commons wiki, then it would be possible to write the formatted text in wiki code instead of normal text like in mails. Then there wouldn’t be an error here on the page afterwards.

The file links are for example File:Spreewald, Postkarte, 1898.jpg, File:Spreewald, Postkarte, 1898a.jpg, File:Spreewald, Postkarte, 1898c.jpg. There might have been more, but I didn’t get a warning for every such edit. See also the tag markings here: Special:Contributions/176.1.10.174. Hi, thanks for your answer, but I haven’t removed any template, it’s still on all the pages. I can see them there and they all look normal to me, there isn’t any error on the pages. So I think that you must see them also. Do you think that the file pages are worse now? I can’t see that. The filter says that I would have removed it, but because I haven’t, I just thought that the filter would not work correctly. Because if the template really would be gone, that would be bad for sure.

I saw this form for the template with "invoke" on other file pages and I thought that this would be the better form for this template (the more appreciated than the other form only with "information"). I assumed that the function shows users the template in their own language, especially the ones with user accounts and other languages in their personal preferences. Am I wrong there? Maybe I misunderstood anything? But why is it used on other file pages then, if it maybe isn’t wanted? And why does the filter log these, if the form with invoking is actually also used on file pages? This is removing the template, I only changed it from one possible version to another possible version. But if changing the template like I did also should not be wanted (I don’t know why), then the filter shouldn’t be named "removing information template", but something like "removing or changing information template", otherwise the warning will be ignored, because getting a warning which describes something that you didn’t do at all ("removing something") just leads to assuming that the filter is wrong and should be fixed. With this description of the filter it’s impossible to understand that also changing the template into another version that normally shows the template isn’t wanted. —176.1.10.174 18:29, 13 March 2025 (UTC)

It’s mainly because of de-Wikipedia, there often isn’t a very good mood there. I think it’s much easier without account staying out of the Meta zone with bigger conflicts. And I don’t like having a very long list of contributions taking with me all the time either that makes stalking edits easier. But I have to think it over because I read about the planned roll-out of temporary accounts on all wikis making the contribution lists very much longer automatically. Then there will be no big difference to normal account contribution lists anymore.

Here on Commons it’s not so easy editing with IP because of things like category moves of only misspellings or name change after marriage taking months(!) (this easy cat move is waiting since January now, I even don’t know why), if users can’t do them themselves. Some other users (and edit before that) recently took away their requests from that page after a few days and wrote they wanted to do the cat moves themselves instead. I don’t know, if file moves also take this long on Commons. At de-Wikipedia, it takes maybe one day, then a bad name file has been moved. Also simple misspelling cat moves don’t take months normally. But here, users often have to wait very long for simple moves. Aren’t there enough admins or filemovers for these things? Or should category name changes after marriage of the described person also be discussed in a normal cat discussion? I’m afraid then it’ll take even much longer. A cat change on Commons into the new name after marriage takes much longer than the marriage itself inclusive honeymoon. ;-) —176.1.7.62 16:18, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

I think, if the logo, Faycal.09 wants to upload now, is a new official logo and not the same logo as before which had been official before the change, it’s better to upload it on a new file page and not on an existing one. An old logo might be used to illustrate in articles especially the old logo, because often there are shown an old and also a new logo there. It’s not good, if another file is uploaded, where already an old other version has been uploaded before. That might confuse the use of these logos in articles. And it will not be possible to use the old and the new logo of any institution at the same time in articles anymore, because you always only can use the actual, latest version of the file, and not the old versions. Please always upload other, new logos or other new files on new file pages but not with overwriting the existing ones. I think this is the reason that it’s only allowed for users which have a bit of experience on Commons.

Wegen Verkehrszeichen also. Ich hatte gar nicht bemerkt, dass die kaputte Kategorie-Weiterleitung Category:Quadrilingual Telugu-Hindi-English-Urdu signs in India (die mal so gelöscht werden könnte, da ein Schnelllöschantrag dort ja nicht möglich ist, auch mit "speedy delete" stattdessen ging es nicht) eine zu Verkehrszeichen war, da nichts dort dazu steht. Und "signs" könnten auch ganz andere Zeichen in Indien sein. Die kaputte Weiterleitung ist trotzdem sinnlos, egal ob mit oder ohne Verkehrszeichen. Die sollte wie ihr Linkziel weg. Sonst sind mir Verkehrszeichen nicht so wichtig.

Haben die anderen beiden Filter, in die ich auf dieser Seite noch geriet, auch mit den Verkehrszeichen und dem Langzeit-Vandalismus zu tun?

Zum letzten Punkt hatte ich weiter oben schon was auf Englisch geschrieben. Wenn es hier demnächst auch temporäre Konten gibt, schaue ich mal weiter.

Hey, about this process: this subject has been going on in fi-wiki so I'll translate the key points to here quickly: * Finnish copyright law allows the use of these sculptures in this way (TekijL 25 a§), but the relation to Commons policies is unclear. * I have received the permission of the landowner (city of Tampere) to publish these pictures under CC-BY-SA-4.0. * It is unclear, was the city the sole copyright owner in this case.
