Gênio: uma plataforma de controle por voz em português para automação residencial, 2018

Its applications have come in commercial evidence, potentiated by the Internet of Things, which is the interconnection of devices equipped with microcontrollers, sensors and actuators through the internet, allowing the generation of services and applications. Voice control solutions stand out as a user-friendly and intuitive technology. However, the technologies usually present themselves in English language or with limited resources for Brazilian Portuguese. In addition, many of the services used are dominated by large companies, whose solutions are not cheap. This work presents the efforts in constructing a low cost and open source intelligent home hub, that interacts with the user through voice commands in the Portuguese language. The smart hub proposed in this work is composed by the Snowboy library, which is used for hotword detection, CMUSphinx tool for speech recognition and Home Assistant toolkit is proposed for integration between intelligent devices. Once the system architecture was defined, a prototype was developed and tested in order to evaluate its functionalities. The prototype meets the offline processing and portuguese comprehension requirements, and presents lower costs than consolidated platforms in the market. However, a specialist is required to deploy the final product, and it can hand out potential scalability issues.

For marketing reasons, technologies in this field are mainly focused on english speakers and resources for Brazilian Portuguese are still limited. Furthermore, many of it's services are dominated by large companies, whose solutions are highly priced, making it unaffordable for most of the brazilian population. This work aims to construct a low cost intelligent hub for home automation, entirely open source, interacting with the user through voice commands in Brazilian Portuguese. The prototype was built with Snowboy library for keyword detection, CMUSphinx tool for speech recognition and Home Assistant toolkit for devices integration. It was verified that the prototype meets the offline processing and command comprehension in the Portuguese language requirements, and has lower cost than consolidated platforms in the market.
