2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport - Overview

We’re in a golden era of luxury SUVs, where half aim to go fast, and the other half aim to look fancy, yet most never truly flex their off-road muscles. The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport exists right in the middle of all that contradiction. Horsepower starts at 355 for the mild-hybrid inline-six, but if you want the full-fat Range Rover Sport experience, the P530 twin-turbo V8 is back, packing 523 hp. If even that is not enough, there’s always the 626-hp Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two.

Land Rover

Although it sits beneath the flagship Range Rover in size and price, the Range Rover Sport is still a significant investment. It’s more expensive than the BMW X5, even if its impressive capabilities don’t exactly outshine what you get with the Porsche Cayenne. So, is the Range Rover Sport still the ultimate luxury all-rounder, or is it just an off-roader in a tuxedo?

New For 2025

The biggest news is the return of a P530 twin-turbo V8 in Dynamic SE and Autobiography trims and the introduction of the Stealth Pack. This package wraps the Range Rover Sport in Carpathian Grey metallic paint with a factory-fitted Satin protective film, offering a classy finish and scratch protection. Glossy Narvik Black accents replace the usual chrome elements, darkening the hood vents, lettering, lower front and rear bumpers, and side sills for an aggressive stance. The roof also gets a Narvik Black Gloss finish. Completing the look are massive 23-inch Gloss Black wheels paired with black-painted brake calipers and privacy glass. The package also comes with interior upgrades like an integrated air purifier to keep your cabin atmosphere at premium levels.

The $10,305 package adds exclusive touches to the luxury SUV, and is available on the Dynamic SE trim.

2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Price: Which One to Buy

The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has a starting MSRP of $83,700 for the SE trim, which comes exclusively with the P360 mild-hybrid gas engine. The Dynamic SE starts at $90,800 and offers three powertrain configurations: the P400 mild-hybrid gas engine as standard, the P460e plug-in hybrid for $95,100, and the reintroduced P530 mild-hybrid V8 for $109,700. The Autobiography trim starts at $118,700 and gives buyers a choice between the P550e plug-in hybrid as standard or the P530 mild-hybrid V8 for $123,400. For those wanting even more performance, the Sport SV Edition Two trim features a 626-hp V8, introduced last year, but we review that model separately. All-wheel drive is standard across all three trim levels and powertrain configurations. Destination and delivery charges add $1,625 to the final cost. As expected from Land Rover, customization options are extensive. The Stormer Handling Pack sharpens performance with an electronic active differential, torque vectoring by braking, AWD steering, and upgraded suspension. Other options include towing, climate, convenience, and comfort packs, as well as full extended leather in place of the standard Windsor leather.

JLR will donate money to the Park City Community Foundation for every unit sold.

If you want the best mix of power, price, and performance, the Dynamic SE is the one to get. It’s the only trim that lets you pick between three powertrains, offering more flexibility than the SE or Autobiography. The Brits claim the PHEV offers 53 miles of all-electric range and can be charged to 80% in just an hour. If you have a home charger and your daily commute falls within that range, you can't go wrong with the six-cylinder plug-in hybrid. It offers stronger passing power than the base MHEV engine, pairs nicely with optional handling upgrades, and can still be had with the show-stopping Stealth Pack if you want a bolder aesthetic. Otherwise, it’s an expensive detour into electrification.

Interior and Features

The Range Rover Sport’s cabin looks and feels effortlessly premium - sleek, modern, and refreshingly uncluttered. It’s proof that Land Rover can rival the best in the business.

The interior is precisely what you’d expect a premium SUV to be - spacious, well-designed, and finished with high-end materials like perforated Windsor leather or modern Ultrafabrics. Drivers sit high thanks to a commanding seating position, but the slim, near-horizontal dashboard and sweeping center console give it a more modern, uncluttered feel. The wide windshield and thin A-pillars offer excellent visibility, making city driving and parking easier than expected for an SUV of this size. A 13.1-inch curved Pivi Pro touchscreen display keeps the tech front and center, while physical buttons are mostly replaced by capacitive switches and on-screen controls. There’s also an available rear seat entertainment system with two 11.4-inch HD screens, offering screen mirroring and console connectivity.

There's a good amount of storage inside, and the Autobiography trim we drove even came with a front center console refrigerator compartment, perfect for keeping drinks chilled on long drives. You can outfit your Rover Sport with optional 22-way power seats (20-way standard) with massage, an upgraded Meridian audio system with 19 or 29 speakers, cabin air purification, and quad-zone climate control. Getting in and out is easier than expected for a big SUV, with Access Mode automatically lowering the air suspension, making it less of a climb - a feature that quickly became one of our favorites.

Space

Even though the Range Rover Sport looks leaner than the bigger Range Rover, it doesn’t skimp on interior space for passengers. With a 118-inch wheelbase, the midsize SUV matches the larger model in length and comfortably seats five. There’s ample space in the first row, and the panoramic sunroof adds to the sense of space, even if it does eat into headroom a little. Those in the back aren’t shortchanged, with generous leg- and headroom for two adults, though the middle seat can feel a little narrow for a third occupant on long drives. That said, even with a bulky baby seat in place, our passengers on either side remained comfortable. The rear seats recline in all trims except the Dynamic SE. The adjustable suspension lowers to 8.5 inches for easier entry, but crank it up for off-roading, and the 11-inch clearance might have you climbing in.

Cargo

The 2025 Range Rover Sport continues to deliver a versatile cargo area of about 31.9 cubic feet behind the second row. Folding those seats forward expands the space to 53.0 cubic feet - not exactly class-leading, but still plenty for a few bulky items, extended vacation gear, or a serious hardware store run. The load floor is reasonably low for an SUV of this stature, and there’s even a hidden storage compartment beneath it to keep valuables out of sight. Automatic tailgate operation comes standard, and a hands-free gesture feature is available (with the Convenience Pack) for even easier loading when your arms are occupied.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find a rear center armrest with integrated cupholders, front door storage space, an upper secondary glovebox alongside a lockable glovebox, a center console featuring its own armrest, loadspace lighting, luggage tie-downs, cargo hooks, and even a dedicated shopping bag hook. The front center console refrigerator compartment comes standard on the Autobiography and is available on SE and Dynamic SE trims as part of the optional Comfort Pack.

Materials and Colors

Land Rover has been keen to showcase a new wave of sustainable materials, offering a choice between real Windsor leather or eco-friendly Ultrafabrics across the lineup, with semi-aniline leather available on higher trims for an ultra-supple, old-world British feel. For perforated Windsor leather, interior color options include Ebony, Light Cloud/Ebony, and Deep Garnet/Ebony, while perforated Ultrafabrics is available in Ebony, with Light Cloud/Ebony becoming an option at the Dynamic SE level. The Dynamic SE Caraway, all of which can be paired with Ebony or Duo Tone Ebony/Light Cloud headlining and unique stitching patterns.

Trim inlays range from Natural Black veneers and Fine Brushed Aluminum to the SV Bespoke Satin Forged Carbon, which enhances the sinister look of the Stealth Pack. For an extra touch of luxury, two Premium Textile Packs are available. One features SV bespoke carpet mats, a full non-leather upgrade, and configurable cabin lighting with 30 color options. The other adds the SV bespoke full extended leather upgrade, wrapping the door top roll, armrest, instrument panel, and center console in Windsor leather.

Features and Infotainment

Land Rover’s Pivi Pro software is one of the most advanced systems on the market, and all trims come packed with almost everything we have come to expect from a nearly six-figure luxury SUV. The 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system is the heart of the cabin, featuring Pivi Pro, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity and streaming, voice control, and an Online Pack with a data plan. The SE and Dynamic SE trims come with a 15-speaker Meridian sound system, with the option to upgrade to 19 or 29 speakers. The Autobiography trim comes standard with the 19-speaker system, while the 29-speaker setup is available as an upgrade.

The SE trims come with dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, and 20-way electric heated and ventilated memory front seats, along with heated power-recline rear seats. However, the Autobiography trim steps things up with 22-way heated and ventilated, massage electric memory front seats with winged headrests, along with heated and ventilated power-recline rear seats with winged headrests, a head-up display, and four-zone climate control. The Comfort Pack adds quad-zone climate control and Cabin Air Purification Pro, while the Cold Climate Pack includes a heated windshield and heated washer jets for those in colder climates.

Performance

With five engine options, the Range Rover Sport isn’t playing the downsizing game. There’s a mild-hybrid if you kind of care about price, a plug-in hybrid if you care a bit less, and a twin-turbo V8 if you don’t care at all. We appreciate the choice.

The 2025 Range Rover Sport lineup packs a mix of 48‑volt mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, topped off by the returning twin-turbo V8. The P360 mild-hybrid inline-six (exclusive to the SE) generates 355 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, hitting 60 mph in 5.7 seconds with a 140 mph top speed. The P400 variant, tuned for more output, increases power to 395 hp and 406 lb-ft, cutting the 0-60 mph time to 5.2 seconds and reaching 150 mph.

For plug-in hybrid buyers, the P460e gas PHEV powertrain delivers 454 hp and 487 lb-ft, achieving 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds with a 140 mph top speed. Starting with the V8s, the resurrected P530 twin-turbo V8 MHEV delivers 523 hp and 553 lb-ft, launching the mid-size brute from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. Meanwhile, the P550e V8 Plug-in Hybrid, exclusive to the Autobiography trim, pushes those figures to 543 hp and 590 lb-ft, dropping the 0-60 mph time to 4.7 seconds while raising the top speed to 150 mph. When it comes to towing capacity, the P360 and P400 mild-hybrid gas engines pull up to 7,716 lbs, while the P460e plug-in hybrid manages 6,614 lbs.

No one buys a Range Rover Sport expecting Prius-like gas mileage, but the mild-hybrid six-cylinders at least help soften the blow at the pump. The P360 and P400 gas MHEVs manage a respectable 20/25/22 mpg (city/highway/combined), making them the most reasonable gas-powered options in the lineup. If you’re looking to dodge the pump altogether, the plug-in hybrid P460e and P550e throw in some real electric capability. With 53 MPGe on battery power and 21 mpg once the charge runs out, they offer up to 53 miles of electric-only driving - enough for commutes and school runs.

Here Are The Top Ten Plug-In Hybrid Cars With The Longest Electric Range

Buying a PHEV means you get the benefit of all-electric driving - these are the ten plug-in hybrids with the longest all-electric range.

And unlike most hybrids that crawl through their recharge cycle, the battery here can juice up to 80% in under an hour with rapid DC charging, meaning you can actually grab a coffee and come back to meaningful range. At the other end of the spectrum, the P530 twin-turbo V8 MHEV prioritizes power over efficiency, with 16/23/19 mpg. Fortunately, all gas models come with a 23.8-gallon fuel tank, so even the thirsty V8 can stretch the miles between pit stops.

Safety

For a vehicle with a price tag this hefty, it’s no shock that the Range Rover Sport comes loaded with advanced safety tech. What would’ve been nice, though, is some fresh crash test ratings to back it up.

The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport hasn’t been rated by NHTSA or IIHS, so there’s no official U.S. crash data yet. However, the last time the EuroNCAP tested it in 2022, it earned a five-star rating. So, unless Land Rover forgot how to build a car in the last two years, it’s safe to assume it remains just as secure.

All 2025 Range Rover Sport trims come standard with emergency braking, blind spot assist, 3D surround camera, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, driver condition response, lane-keep assist, front and rear parking aid, rear traffic monitor, traffic sign recognition with adaptive speed limiter, and occupant protection assist. Additional standard features include all-terrain progress control, open differential with torque vectoring by braking, dynamic air suspension, and adaptive dynamics. Other safety and security features include a reduced-section alloy spare wheel, perimetric alarm, driver-configurable auto-lock, driver-configurable single point entry, power-operated child locks, rear ISOFIX, side repeater indicators in the mirror, speed limiter, front airbags with passenger seat occupant detector, front side airbags, and tire pressure monitoring system. The Autobiography trim adds park assist to the standard features list.

Reliability

The 2025 Range Rover Sport holds an overall consumer-verified rating of 78 out of 100, according to J.D. Power. The latest iteration is still too new for any official tallies, but it inherits an improved version of the brand’s electrical architecture and benefits from over-the-air software updates that can fix certain glitches without a dealer visit. However, Land Rover’s reputation for electrical issues hasn’t disappeared entirely. The 2025 model is still new, but it has already been subject to one recall due to a manufacturing defect that may prevent the second-row center seat belt buckle from latching properly. In addition, one consumer complaint has surfaced regarding the low-beam headlights casting a shadow with a notch, causing a distraction while driving.

Every new 2025 Range Rover Sport is covered by a new vehicle limited warranty of four years/50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Land Rover also includes a six-year/unlimited-mileage corrosion perforation warranty. For plug-in hybrid models, the electric hybrid battery is covered for six years/60,000 miles.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport Generations: Key Updates Across All Model Years

The Range Rover Sport combines most of the traditional luxury Range Rover experience with a sportier feel for the owner who wants to drive themselves

Recall information is accurate at the time of writing; however, recalls may occur in the years after production, in which case, it may not be reflected here. Current recalls are listed on the NHTSA website.

Design

For something touted as an off-roader, the Range Rover Sport is surprisingly civilized in its appearance. Up front, slender LED headlights flank a modest grille - tiny compared to some rivals - giving the Sport a more modern, almost minimalist expression. Lower down, sculpted vents and a purposeful splitter suggest a performance edge, yet it never looks cartoonish. Moving along the side, the SUV’s roofline remains almost arrow-straight, and subtle creases in the sheet metal emphasize the vehicle’s length without resorting to dramatic flares. The rear is where the Sport’s function and fashion become truly obvious. A slight roof spoiler pokes out just enough to hint at speed, while slim LED taillights wrap around the corners for a sleek finish. The tailgate is fairly upright without making the back look boxy, and depending on your chosen trim, you can opt for a gloss-black contrast roof to make the body color pop even more.

If you’re feeling especially bold, the new Stealth Pack swaps out shiny trim for menacing black accents, turning the Sport into a high-dollar Darth Vader on wheels. Wheel sizes include standard 21-inch alloys or optional 22-inch and 23-inch forged styles in Satin Dark Grey with Gloss Black contrast and Diamond Turned finishes. Brake calipers come unpainted as standard, with black-painted calipers available. Color choices range from Fuji White to metallics like Firenze Red and Giola Green, premium shades like Carpathian Grey, and SV Ultra Metallic Gloss. Roof options vary by trim, with body-colored or contrasting roof choices available.

Verdict: Is The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport a Good SUV?

The Range Rover Sport has always had an identity crisis. It’s a luxury SUV with the kind of off-road credentials that 99% of owners will never need, yet it also plays the role of a high-speed, road-going cruiser with enough presence to turn heads in traffic. It sits somewhere between serious off-roader, high-performance SUV, and rolling status symbol, and somehow, Land Rover makes it all work - most of the time. The problem we see with it is that nobody’s taking this thing rock crawling. It’s got the hardware for it, but in reality, it’ll spend most of its life gliding over potholes in the city, and occasionally pulling up to a ski lodge where it might have to brave a few inches of snow. And that’s fine because this is a comfortable, capable, and genuinely refined daily driver. So, should you buy one? If you want a luxury SUV that can handle bad weather, rough roads, and the occasional off-pavement excursion while still looking effortlessly cool, then yes. If you’re after a thrill machine or the ultimate off-road beast, there are better (and often cheaper) options.

All information in this review of the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is correct at the time of writing; manufacturers may update, change, or improve any specification, pricing, or feature at any time.
