The presentations were delivered in a period that extends from the preparation of the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church, the Council itself, the granting of the Ukrainian autocephaly, the covid-19 pandemic, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Some of the causes are analyzed in brief: the marginalization of the Antiochene tradition, an overdose eschatology, the “modern” understanding of the Bible, the gradual loss of the prophetic character of the Church, which is more evident in the Bible, and the marginalization – until the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church – of its witnessing responsibility, have resulted in a significant legacy that hinders any real Biblical and liturgical renewal. The experiment of the Church of Greece that launched nearly 20 years ago an official, albeit unsuccessful, liturgical renewal project. The final proposal is a combination of both this neglected prophetic character and the prevailing eschatological dimension of the Orthodox faith, with all that these imply for an auth...

Several different constituencies within world Christianity held significant events around 2010. From 2005, an international group worked collaboratively to develop an intercontinental and multi-denominational project, known as Edinburgh 2010, and based at New College, University of Edinburgh. This initiative brought together representatives of twenty different global Christian bodies, representing all major Christian denominations and confessions, and many different strands of mission and church life, to mark the Centenary. Essential to the work of the Edinburgh 1910 Conference, and of abiding value, were the findings of the eight think-tanks or 'commissions'. These inspired the idea of a new round of collaborative reflection on Christian mission -but now focused on nine themes identified as being key to mission in the twenty-first century. The study process was polycentric, open-ended, and as inclusive as possible of the different genders, regions of the world, and theological and confessional perspectives in today's church. It was overseen by the Study

The most recent crisis erupted in the rejection of the Balamand Declaration by both the Ukrainian Greek Catholics and those Orthodox following the rigid stance of the Russian Orthodox Church. A description of the more favorable approach to Greek Catholicism from the Middle East, Greece, and America, and the new perspectives that appeared after the granting of autocephaly by the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The paper will conclude with a personal recommendation as to how the most thorny issue in Orthodox-Catholic relations can become an optimistic case that can contribute to the quest for Christian unity."

Two hours' basic study is necessary to master the Introductory pages of any critical Greek Testament and some reference back will be necessary after that, but it will be seen that the critical apparatus can give the key to many of the differences between translations in English or in other languages-some of which are quite important.

Among the admonitions of the second and more significant of Moses' addresses we read the following: In times to come your children will ask you: "Why did the Lord our God command us to obey all these laws?" Then tell them: "We were slaves of the King of Egypt and the Lord rescued us by his great power. With our own eyes we saw him work miracles and do terrifying things to the Egyptians and to their King and to all his officials. He freed us from Egypt to bring us here and give us this land, as he had promised our ancestors he would. Then the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these laws and to have reverence for him. If we do, he will always watch over our nation and keep it prosperous. The right thing for us to do is to obey faithfully everything that God has commanded us" (Deut. 6:20-25). Why did the Lord our God command us to obey these laws? (6:20) At first glance this text appears to be somehow irrelevant to our faith as its main content is about law and commands. Even more so if it is read against the background of world Christian mission. This is almost true, but not quite. Beyond the ways that the present pandemic crisis has endangered the public health, the precautionary measures assumed worldwide have also challenged our ecclesiastical life in two distinct, albeit interrelated areas: the enforced enclosure of the faithful, with consequences not only for the constitutional right of religious freedom but also for the identity of the Church defined by the Eucharistic event as a community coming together "in the same place."
