The aim of this paper is to propose a lithogenetic code, which as far as it is possible systematizes all found types of aeolian deposits. Therefore, such a code contains not only lithologic data but also explains the deposit origin. Moreover, such a way of description helps out to use it in the POLEOL database. To accept deposition process as a criterion for distinguishing lithologic units in aeolian environment was proposed. Hence, genetic types of deposits can be distinguished, which are related to the following subenvironments: 1) windward subenvironment, in which deposition occurs on the surface exposed to wind action, and depends on wind velocity and ground moisture, and 2) subenvironment of dune lee face, in which deposits are accumulated on the distal slope of dune mostly by gravitational redeposition and/or grain fall on the surfaces sheltered from the wind. Such a systematization of the deposi...

The growing application of optical methods leads to statistical comparison of their results against those from sedimentation methods. Here, the Kołmogorow-Smirnow non-parametric test is demonstrated. Most agreement exists in the 50-20 and 20-6 mm fraction. In order to compare the optical and the combined methods, correlation ratios were calculated for all commonly used grain-size fractions. Regression equations were established for the 50-20 mm fraction.

The sediments belong to periglacial loesses and were deposited at the turn of upper Plenivistulian and late Vistulian (Kozarski & Nowaczyk, 1992). Primary and secondary (periglacial and soil) microstructures were distinguished among them. Abundant till and clay intraclasts probably indicate close source of the material and multiredeposition processes. Clay balls may proove that the loess deposits were primary deposited on slopes. Vertical normal grading was explained as a result of segregation of the silt material in the snow melt water. Among the secondary microstructures, synchronical with periglacial processes, are described: syngenetic microcracks with clastic infillings, abundant deformations of clay laminae, circle structures, silt droplet structures, laminae cementated by clay minerals and iron compounds (so-c...

Actual the main trends of paleoclimatic investigations of the Holocene are represented by two mainstreams classical and multiproxy stream This paper is the first methodolological presentation of the role multiproxy investigations in the geosciences. The prediction in paleoclimatology actual is based on modeling There is now a need to develop long-term simulation models that can help anticipate complex ecosystem behavior and environmental processes in the face of global environmental change – and resolving our past is an essential element in that endeavour.
