
Karolina Plicková
Festival dramaturg, curator, organizer, consultant, researcher and pedagogue focusing on contemporary alternative and puppet theatre. She studied theatre studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University and received the Václav Königsmark Prize for her diploma thesis. She completed her doctoral studies at The Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU). She has published articles and studies in a number of professional periodicals (Divadelní revue, ArteActa, Taneční zóna, kød, etc.), in 2017-2019 she worked as a freelance editor of the magazine Svět a divadlo. She is the dramaturge of Malá inventura – Festival of New Theatre and an assistant professor at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU. In 2023, she founded two showcases of contemporary puppetry by students and alumni of KALD DAMU. She is a member of HaDivadlo's dramaturgical board for the 50th annual season (2024/2025). Her book on the creative process of devised theatre, Pozorovat prazdny prostor (Observing the Empty Space, NAMU, 2022), became a bestseller and was nominated for the Theatre Newspaper Award in the category of Publication Achievement in Theatre. She edited a collective monograph of DAMU entitled Divadlo a etika (Theatre and Ethics, NAMU, 2023), which was officially launched in April 2024 at Divadlo Na zábradlí. She moderates both professional and informal discussions, leads workshops, and organizes various types of events. Since the spring of 2024 she has been the chairwoman of the Academic Senate of DAMU.
