Attracting and retaining talent is a major problem faced by SMEs in the logistics business. There is a need to incorporate a high degree of professionalism in the functioning and approach of SMEs in this business. The current study aims to analyse the factors that influences employee intention to leave an organisation and their level of commitment towards the organisation. The study is focused on surface transport operators (parcel service operators) in Tamil Nadu. The sample population of the study consists of 650 respondents in middle and low carders. The study concluded that concluded that mostly job to other job in want of good salary package, but, they are passion to take up more challenging job, want for career advancement, expectation for work-life balances and liking for stress free work environment forces them to search for new or alternative job. The parcel service providers in particular and logistics service providers in large must take these issues very serious and should provide a real-time work experiments to their employee and opportunities to express individual ability, so that they can feel pride and motivated to work in an organisation for long tenure.

Recently employees working in the transportation service sector have been facing issues like: heavy work load, deadline, slim down employee benefits etc. Additionally, the safety concerns faced by female employees were important. Moreover, transportation employee like driver faces issues such as increasing fuel cost, unpleasant road conditions and increasing vehicle maintenance cost. On the other hand office level employees'/administrative employees' dissatisfaction towards their job has been notified as lack of career path development that in turn strongly influences their attrition rates from the transportation service sector. Though, the employees in these sectors are better educated and more qualified than ever before, they cannot raise their voice for their welfare/benefits. Since, transportation sector is highly centralized within trucking companies that leads to unpleasant working environment. These issues could be considered as the prime reasons for high rate of employee turnover. At this juncture it is advisable to assess employees' satisfaction towards HRM policies and Organisation factors and its influences on their intention of turnover. The study findings indicated that majority of the employees surveyed at both ABT and ARC were observed to least satisfied with both HR policies and organisation factors adhered in their organisation. The study further reveals that employees turn over intention is close linked with their dissatisfaction towards: organisation and personal fit, remuneration and recognition system,working environment and poor organisation commitment. Thus, it is suggested to the ABT and ARC parcel service companies to adopt strategic recruitment practices of finding right man for right job and always aim to pay them adequate salary and other perks. These organisations are also suggested to adhere very employee friendly work environment in order to enhance their level of satisfaction and to retain them as committed employees.

Roads are constituted as the most significant component of
India‟s Logistics Industry, accounting for 60 percent of
the total freight movement in the country. A majority of
players in this industry are small entrepreneurs running their
family businesses. As a result, Man Power Development
Investments that pay off in the longer term, have been
minimised respectively. Moreover, these businesses are
typically controlled severely by the proprietor and his / her
family and consequently, making it unattractive for the
professionals. Poor working conditions, Low pay scales
relative to alternate careers, poor or non-existent Manpower
Policies and prevalence of unscrupulous practices have added
to the segment's woes for seeking employment. Thus, it could
be rightly stated that the Transportation, Logistics,
Warehousing and Packaging Sector is considered an
unattractive career option and fails to attract and retain skilled
manpower. Many Organizations have failed to recognize that
Human Resources play an important role in gaining an
immense advantage in today‟s highly competitive Global
Business Environment. While all aspects of managing Human
Resources is important, Employee Retention continues to be
an essential part of Human Resource Management activity
that help the Organizations to achieve their goals and
objectives.
II. STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Employees working in the Transportation

Abstract: - The purpose of this paper is to highlight the general
terms and definitions that falls under the ‘common set’ in the
intersection of the sets Meteorology and Aerospace Engineering.
It begins with the universal explanations for the meteorological
phenomena under the ‘common set’ followed by the
categorization of clouds and their influences on the aerial
vehicles, the instrumentation used in Aeronautics to determine
the required Meteorological quantities, factors affecting aviation,
effects of aviation on the clouds, and the corresponding protocols
involved in deciphering the ‘common set’ elements.
It also talks about the relation between airport construction and
Geology prior to concluding with the uses and successes of
Meteorology in the field of Aerospace.

The road transport in India as emerged as a dominant part of the transport system in India, it has
come to occupy a pivotal position in the overall transport system in India. The sector is growing at
the rate of 10% per annum. Several factors are helping the growth of logistics industry in India over
the decade that includes changing tax system, rapid growth in industries such as automobile,
pharmaceuticals, FMCG and retail. However, major sectors that are investing huge amounts in
logistics industry are aviation, metal & mining and consumer durables. With increasing competition
and cost, focus on outsourcing, entry of foreign players is having positive impact on the industry.
Three major contributors for the growth of the logistic industry are: emergence of organized retail,
increase in foreign trade and India becoming soon the manufacturing hub.
Logistics in general and road transportation based parcel service involves a complex exercise,
involving operational, supervisory and strategic levels and spanning across various activities within
the organisation, including customer service, demand forecasting and planning, inventory
management, logistics communications, material handling, order processing, packaging, part and
service support, plant and warehouse site selection, procurement, return goods handling, reverse
logistics, traffic and transportation management, warehousing and storage, commercial and legal
aspects, and tax administration. Since logistics decisions involve a great deal of interaction within
the organisation the personnel dealing with logistics need to be equipped with not only technical and
functional skills but also behavioural skills. It is, therefore, important that manpower planning in
logistics is based on a full understanding of the need to develop cross-functional, multi-skill based
capabilities.

Abstract
The Road Goods Transport Industry (RGTI) (the terms RGTI/ trucking
industry/trucking sector have been used interchangeably in the report) has played a pivotal
role in trade and commerce in India especially in the past few decades.The logistics
industry, which is likely to cross the $200 billion figure by 2020 is struggling in terms of
inadequate human resource having knowledge about logistics and supply chain
management in India. The major reasons for this could be lack of contextual courses and
training programmes in good institutes, harsh working environment for people working in
the sector and above all the relatively lower compensation they get. Lack of adequate
supporting infrastructure (both physical and education and training related) is a major
reason.The study aims to analyse influences of HR and organisation factors on employee
retention in surface transportation (parcel services) service sector, in Tamilnadu.The
sample population of the study consists of 650 respondents in middle and low carders
currently working in size surface transport companies operating in Tamilnadu.The current
study is both explorative and descriptive in nature. The study applied judgmental &
conveniences sampling techniques for selection of the sample.
The study found that the sample populations are satisfied with their personorganizational
fit and challenging assignments and opportunities they get in their present
job. The sample employees are found to be dissatisfied with pay & remuneration and
opportunities available for training and career development. Thus, it is suggested that the
logistics service providers in general and road transport freight operators in particular
should aim to pay an adequate salary to their work forces and train them in modern
logistics operation and cargo handling systems to retain the employees in long run.

Abstract
Till the end of the Tenth century Transportation and Logistics Companies had
been successful in attracting skilled workforce and have sufficient staff to manage their
businesses effectively due to the effective use of the cultural richness of its workforce. But,
recently employees in the Transportation and Logistics had their own issues in terms of
heavy work load, deadline, slim down employee benefits etc. Based on this practical issues
faced by this industry this study aims to analyse Impact of HR benefits on employees’
retention in surface transportation firms operating in Tamilnadu.
In Coimbatore there are 205 surface Transport Companies in operation. Of these
two companies A.B.T and A.R.C operate throughout the state. These two companies that
operate throughout Tamilnadu are selected as Research Population. Due to vast spread of
these two Transportation Service Providers and difficulties encountered by the researcher
in data collection, sample population was restricted to 45 per cent of the total workers
working in these two companies. The sample population of the study consists of 650
respondents in middle and low cadres. This study has found that that there exists close
association between employee’s perception on the HR benefits provided by the
Organisation to retain employee and their satisfaction levels, except Relationship with
Superiors of their satisfaction levels. Thus, it is suggested that the Logistics Service
Providers in general and Road Transport Freight Operators in particular should aim to
strengthen inter-personal relationship and relationship between superior and sub-ordinates
for retaining their valuable workforce.

This study aims to analyse the success rate of Employee Retention Practices adhered by the
Parcel Service Sector (Parcel Services) in Tamil Nadu. The study applied Judgmental &
Convenience Sampling Techniques for selection of the sample. The researchers have
adopted judgmental sampling technique for defining the entire population of Surface
Transport Operators (parcel service operators) in Tamil Nadu. The elaborate survey result
reveals the fact that only 44.30 respondents’ have express intention to stay back in their
current job for a long tenure. Whereas, 55.70 per cent of the sample respondents’ have
opined that they expect search for new job in the future. Thus, it could be concluded that
most of the employees’ working in Parcel Service Firms do not prefer to shift from their
current job to other job in want of good salary package, but, they are passionate to take
up more challenging job, want for Career Advancement, Expectation for work-life
balances and liking for stress free work environment forces them to search for new or
alternative job. The Parcel Service Providers in particular and Logistics Service Providers in
large must take these issues very serious and should provide a real-time work experiments
