John Sheridan's side saw Jerry Yates shown a straight red card just five minutes from time for foul and abusive behaviour towards the assistant referee, sparking some late pressure.
Gold Omotayo missed a brace of chances and Adam Thompson also went close but the hosts were unable to draw level.
