The study area is situated in hilly area and generally activities during night shifts in hilly area are avoided. Highly undulated terrain and many other weather conditions cause safety concerns. When Situation A is compared with Situation C, a small increase in noise levels in Situation C is noticed due to increase in degree of mechanization in later situation.

Noise levels around Shovel No. 1 and Shovel No. 2 which were operating simultaneously on different mining benches were 80 dB(A) and 85 dB(A), respectively. Noise level along the haul road ranged 70-80 dB(A) and on conveyor belt it was in the range of 80-85 dB(A). Predicted noise near Crusher Plants I and II was in the range of 80-90 dB(A). In all industrial locations within the study area, the calculated noise levels exceeded the CPCB Lan limits, i.e., 73.87 dB(A). As we move away from the crusher plant, the corresponding noise levels decreased.
