It has a deep sharp incision on the posterior margin of the adipose eyelid (Fig.2-B). The meristic formula is: D, VHI+16; A,T+14; P,12; V,I+5; C,15. These features of E.popei agree with Carpenter and Niem 1999, Suzuki and Kimura 2017, and Psomadakis eft al. 2019. The morphometric measurements are shown in Table (1).

Recording of E. popei in the Syrian marine waters fills the gap of its distribution along the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea (Fig. 1).
