Knowledge Based The knowledge base on the expert system for the specification of criminal acts consists of two kinds of knowledge sources, fac s and rules. The knowledge facts that are stored are: types of crimes, criminal acts, articles and knowledge of the punishments given tc perpetrators of crimes. Knowledge information for the types of crimes there are 30 types of crimes which are summarized and labeled at k1, k2, k2,....., k30. Knowledge information fot criminal acts there are 1234 crimina acts which are summarized and labeled as D1, D2. D3..., D D1234. As for knowledge information for articles, there are 437 articles labeled as Pl, P2, P3, .... P437. In the knowledge information for punishment there are 41 penalties which are also labeled as H1, H2, ..., H41. The rules that are stored are knowledge based or the relationship between types of crimes and criminal acts that will provide knowledge in the form of articles and punishments to perpetrators of criminal acts. So the rule base used involves the relationship between types of crimes and criminal acts that provide knowledge in the form of articles and punishments.

Figures 3. Expert System Architectural Design After analyzing the data obtained, the next step is to process the data using the method. In this case, it starts with designing the rules that will become input, process and output. In designing this expert system, several things will be carried out, namely the knowledge base stage, inference engine, working memory, explananitation facilities and data flow diagrams which can be seen in Figure 3.
