We conducted a cross-sectional study in two predefined and purposively selected study areas from urban and rural sites in Bangladesh. The urban site was Ward 17, Zone 1, Dhaka City Corporation, and the rural site was the Chanda- naish subdistrict, Chittagong. Study sites are shown in Figure 1. Preliminary information on these study areas was collected and sites were visited before data collection. It is broadly accepted that social and cultural influences significantly affect how women perceive and manage their menopausal symptoms and transition.'* The knowledge and attitudes about menopause among women vary across coun- tries.'° Several studies have shown that negative attitudes ;opyright @ 2020 The North American Menopause Society.
