3.2. Presentation of the Study Area Karembure Cell, with an area_ estimated to116.32ha, Kabeza Site is located in Kicukiro District, Gahanga Sector and Karembure Cell, within Kigali City. It is expected that the Kabeza Site will have modern infrastructure and that people from different regions, especially Kigali CBD (Central Business District) and other regions around Bugesera International Airport, will come to stay on this site safely and do their business around Gahanga New Kigali City Market.

Land-use variable data were acquired from the field using the DGNSS receiver and total station.

The adjustments to the existing land-use and land-cover changes for 1960-2030 were done using the Pearsor regression model (Table 4). The analysis found a correlation coefficient of about 10% (= 0.0997) between the existing land use and land cover (x) and their predicted changes in the 1960-2030 period (y). The t hypothesis test revealed that the relationship between the two sets
