A geometry that requires coeval subduction-related magmatism at each of these disparate and irregularly oriented locales is implausible. Therefore, the spatial characteristics and distribution of 1.4 Ga igneous rocks through- out the conterminous United States, including those in the St. Francois Mountains terrane, are inconsistent with an arc magmatism genesis.
