VNA consists of cards with verbs, nouns and adjectives (Figure 1). VNA is a collaborative ideation game, where the players make free mental associations sparked by word cards. The game proceeds by taking turns: the first player comes up with a seed to a game idea based on the verb card; second proceeds by taking the noun card and continuing on the idea; the third player picks up an adjective card finalizing the idea. After three cards are used the participants can keep on ideating on the game or the can move on to the next idea and next three cards. Within the rules of the game, it is emphasized that 1) one is using one card at a time instead of laying all three cards on the table at the same time, 2) the words in the cards do not need to be taken literally, and 3) the rounds are supposed to be fast.
